“A simply gorgeous hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

This is a gorgeous hotel! If you're looking for a hotel that's a bit out of Ubud (a 20-minute walk, or they have a regular free shuttle) and away from the noise and traffic of the town, this is for you. Many of the rooms overlook the Champuhan Valley and all have either a lovely outlook or a private courtyard. Our room was huge, with it's own deck and private infinity plunge pool. Breakfast was fantastic, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the pool was big enough to do some laps, and there was a choice of activities each day including walks in the rice fields and a bike ride from Lake Batur. The hotel's own recently opened restaurant is also very good. We loved it!

Dear Jane M,

Thank you for your wonderful review which I am sure will inspire other travellers to consider staying at Uma.

We are very fortunate with our location that give our guests a perfect balance between the accessibilty to Ubud center and the tranquality when you are in house. We are glad that you enjoyed our room, food, activities and the service that our team offered, particularly I am delighted to know that you love our recently opened Italian inspired restaurant - Uma Cucina.

Once again, thank you for staying with us and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind regards,
Suteja

During our honeymoon trip we were staying in Uma Ubud for only 2 nights and by the end of our staying we wished we had been staying longer. The hotel has very beautiful and well-designed area and a landscape. Especially it is worth mentioning the hotel’s veranda for yoga exercise with amazing view on the hills and the river down the hills in the forest. We enjoyed simply sitting or lying there listening of sounds of nature around. Hotel’s personnel is very friendly and helpful. Sunbeds near the pool were always set up with the towels without special request as soon as somebody from the staff were seeing you near the pool. There were good choice of meals on the breakfast. The system of serving breakfast is a la carte what is unusual, however it prevents you from overeating which usually happens)) Nothing can tell about the SPA as it was fully booked for 2 days and we didn’t have chance to try it. However there is a very good and very very cheap SPA with excellent massage therapists right across the road from the hotel.
Our villa with garden view was also excellent. Well-furnished and clean with small pond with fishes and a small fountain. Sometimes I lying on a bad had a feeling that I was lying right in the forest without walls and a roof. One night we were disturbed by crying of some bird near our villa but this something that you can't avoid in such place.
All-in-all we had a great time in this hotel and we can definitely recommend it.

Dear AMakarov,

We are delighted that you had a great honeymoon with us and thank you for choosing Uma by COMO Ubud to spend your very special occassion.

It is a pleasure to read that you enjoy our room, design, location, yoga pavilion, our cuisine and particularly our service that you found it friendly and helpful. Our COMO Shambhala spa is indeed very popular hence most of our guests make their reservations in advance to get their prefered timing, unfortunately we were fully booked when you wanted to have your treatment.

Once again, congratulations.... and it will be our pleasure to welcome you back.

Kind regards,
Suteja

We spent four magical nights here. Within walking distance of town we were yet far removed from its hustle and noise. Our bungalow balcony overlooked a forest and a ravine, noiseless except for bird calls.

We enjoyed two free morning yoga classes with thoughtful and capable instructors. The pool was by far the largest of any during our stay in Bali.

All meals were excellent leaving little incentive to dine elsewhere.

Only one word of caution. With the villas on a hillside it can be quite a hike getting around the property. We had three flights of steps from our room to the pool, then another flight back down for the restaurant, and another to the spa and yoga studio.

Dear Iancereyno,

Your two words "magical nights" to discribe us will inspire a lot of readers to experience the same.

We are delighted to know that you enjoy Uma location - a perfect ballance between accessibility to Ubud and tranquality when you are in house. Morning yoga class followed by relaxing by Uma Pool and then enjoying our meals are indeed a wondeful way to spend one of your days in Uma and hopefully you will continue your yoga practice at home and bringing one of Uma traditions.

I am sorry to learn that the Villa allocated to you has caused you inconvinience due to the distance and steps to the public areas. We have taken a note of your feedback for future room allocation if we have a pleasure to welcome you back again.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

Kind regards,
Suteja

We stayed in Villa Uma Ubud for 3 nights, at one of the villas with private pool overlooking the forest. It was quite a walk towards our room but we love the quietness and serenity that the villa offers. The villa was clean, spacious, lovely decorated, and filled with breezy air from the surrounding forest. The resort also offers various activities that we could join for free, ranging from biking, walking in the rice-paddy fields and hiking. The only issue that we had was, in 1 night there was this 1 big spider roaming our bathroom and since there was practically no door between bath-room and bed-room, we were quite worried that it will creep towards the bedroom!

Room Tip: private room with private pool facing the forest, a bit of walk down the stairs but worth it!

Dear E_Floro,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We are glad that you enjoyed the quietness and the serenity of Uma by COMO, Ubud and you found our villa clean, spacious and nicely decorated and designed.

Activities that we offer to our guests are indeed the highlight of Uma as an adventure resort which allow guests to not only enjoy Uma and its surrounding, but also Bali with its stunning nature.

However, I am sad to learn that you were disturbed by a spider in one night of your stay. We have seriously looked into this to ensure no other guests experinece the same. We have our pest control checking guests accomodation more often. We are indeed located in the middle of jungle above the georgous Wos River valley, but we will ensure that our guests areas are well protected.

Once again, thank you for staying with us and we look forward to welcoming you back to Uma by COMO, Ubud.

Kind regards,
Suteja

Uma by COMO in Ubud is an excellent 4 star property in the heart of Ubud, yet away from the bustling crowd. This 46 room & villa resort is perfect for those who want to stay near to Ubud and want luxury at an affordable price. In true COMO tradition, there are yoga mats in each room as well as yoga classes morning and night.

We first stayed at Uma for a family wedding 8 years ago and returned this year for a holiday and were pleasantly surprised that Uma is a lovely now as it was then. The hotel has an elegant charm that delights after a busy day of shopping or touring around Ubud. The staff show true Balinese hospitality and are beautifully welcoming and extremely helpful. Wonderful stay and highly recommend.
