“Great but terrifying...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

The first day we arrived in Ubud we head straight to the Monkey Forest. We paid a small charge to get in and bought some bananas. Before you even get in the forest there are monkeys rooming the street.

Once inside the monkeys soon realise you have food and climb all over you...if you let them. I was a bit scared but others were getting up close to them. One actually started to chase me which let me terrified running round in circles trying to get away from it. Defiantly worth visiting though.

“Awesome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

One of the best places in Bali. I really enjoyed having a walk around. It is just so interesting to watch the monkeys play around and get food. Make sure you hold your valuables as I almost lost my camera. The monkeys are little rascals, they will come to you if they want to. I actually got bit by one monkey as I sat next to it and looked at it and it thought I had food. However the staff member was very friendly helping me

“Wild(?) monkeys”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Lots of monkeys, lots of fun. The monkeys were not aggressive unless patrons chose to buy and distribute bananas or nuts; then it was game on.

“Yeyyy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Absolutely awesome. We went early(ish) morning, so there weren't that many people. THe monkeys are little rascals but if you know how to approach them, they come to you, play with you and are no problem. However, if you scream, jump, run, look at them and come to them very quickly (rather than them come to you) you might be in for a little bit of a tackle. Some nice temples in the compound, and the walk through the gorge is amazing.
