I stayed here with my Travel Colleagues for 1 night and enjoyed too much. The best part is that this Property is located within the rice Fields and it is very close the Market area as well. The Hotel Staff is very courteous

Stayed at the Alaya for a quick 3 days but had a wonderful time. The rooms are comfortable albeit peculiar bathroom "walls". Not such an issue as the room itself presented scenic views of the paddy fields and a comfortable-sized balcony with a built-in day bed.

Breakfast was served ala carte was was not disappointing. The dining space is interesting to say the least, casual yet chic at the same time. Though there was no time to lounge by the pool, it looked cosy and inviting.

The spa is beautiful - and the lemongrass pineapple welcoming drink was deliciously refreshing.

While you're out and about, drop by Terrazo, a nice restaurant off Ubud high street.

Room Tip: The Alaya rooms have views of the paddy fields and closer to the reception.

Spent 2 nights here. Great location. Very polite and helpful staff, nice lobby area. We stayed in a deluxe room which had a good size but the room layout was awkward and inconvenient with the integrated bathroom/toilet (with an extremely noisy glass door). Somewhat noisy aircon. They offer a turndown service but we barely noticed it except for the drawn curtains. We had ordered a late checkout (for a fee) but were locked out of our room at 12 anyway. The staff was very apologetic and we only had to pay half of the agreed fee. Breakfast was average and quite expensive.

Alaya Resort Ubud has been the best choice I made ever in Bali!

First of all, amazingly warm and friendly Alaya staffs Agung, Indra, Pande, Made and etc.
These friends made me feel like I am at home and will never forget their hearty welcome.

Second of all, exotic room deco! Such as a round-shaped bathtub with a wall painted of forest and very unique room organization.

Thirdly, the view and location!
we could enjoy the breathtaking sunrising from rice field view from our room balcony.
Also Alaya is located within easy access of Monkey Forest, JL Dewi Sita, Ubud market and Ubud Palace.

And so many other positive aspect I can't even type such as breakfast and afternoon tea service.

I would definitely stay in Alaya again soon near in the future.
I fell in love with Bali, hopefully I could meet all the nice people with great smile in Ubud next time again!

We are seasoned travelers to Bali and decided to try this hotel on a recommendation from an Indonesian local. I have to note that we found the names of some of the hotels in the region confusing (i.e. Alaya, Alila, Ayana, etc.), they're so similar that I would consistently confuse them. The problem is that Alila probably has the most beautiful pool in Ubud (the pool consistently wins global awards) and Alaya's is somewhat underwhelming.

The positives:
- Location is about a 20 minute walk to the main temple, but only 3 minutes to the monkey forest
- Room was spacious, clean, well maintained
- Balcony was absolutely wonderful to relax on. Again, very spacious and a beautiful view of the rice paddy, which my wife hilariously confused for a swamp

The negatives:
- Didn't appreciate the staff lying to me on the estimate of taxi fare. Was told that the price to the location I wanted to go to would be Rph80k when in fact I was able to negotiate to Rph50k. It's not alot of money, but I don't like being lied to. The staff member had even looked at the other front desk manager to ensure that she was ok with his "scheme" to assist the taxi drivers across the street. I'm assuming that he was working with the taxi drivers across the street to obtain a cut of the markup. Extremely annoying and I expect alot more from the Balinese considering they are normally wonderfully honest and helpful.
- Pool was underwhelming. The hotel was generally vacant when we went, but the pool is so small, that it felt crowded even with a small amount of guests

In summary, would recommend the hotel with the turnover of some of their their staff members. Had a pleasant stay otherwise.

Dear Andy K,

Thank you for visiting Alaya Resort Ubud and taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor. We noted of some critic point which is a positive input for our improvement and we are glad to know that overall you had a pleasant stay with us.
We will find a way to avoid such annoying circumstances when dealing with transportation request. As a priority we always suggest guest to take the hotel’s car for a safe and convenience journey. Indeed our price is slightly higher. We facilitate our transportation using the latest upper class type of family wagon which is higher standard compare to those local taxi counters. Only when price become an issue from the guest side then our team will leave it to the guest for another options and the closest one we can recommend is those in front of the hotel.
Such a positive feedback is indeed valuable for us to make an improvement and thank you once again for your sincere comment. And we would like to take an early opportunity to welcoming you back in the near future.

Best Regards,
Alaya Resort Ubud Family
