“Great food & peaceful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Great balinese food in a family run small restaurant. Because everything is cooked fresh you can request more or less chilli. The food is all MSG free. The banana pancakes are to die for... caramelized banana slices wrapped in a crepe-like pancake drizzled with palm sugar sauce and caramel. Even the wafer basket for the icecream scoop was home cooked!
They are starting up some cooking classes and I will definitely thry this on my next trip.

“Fantastic, family run favourite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Located in Nyuh Kuning, south of Ubud, is this great little restaurant with fresh and tasty food. The couple who run the warong are extremely friendly and welcoming and the prices are low. A favourite amongst the expat community.

“Little gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

The place is small and cozy but you should not expect the luxury of upmarket central Ubud posh restaurants. This is a small honest family run busines in which they care for the guest. They cater two large tables in the front and around 6 more in the back. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid back.

I have been 3 times in D'Waroeng. First time was only average but I decided to give it a second chance (led by reviews here and elsewhere). I tried the pork with ginger sauce...Incredibly good. Before, I had a chicken and soy soup which arouse my spirit (and body). Encouraged by this experience, in my third visit I led the cook to suggest his own receipt: tuna in banana leaf with yellow rice...superb.

“A treasure off the beaten path!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Dropped in for dinner into this small restaurant last night after one of the guests from Bali Spirit Resort mentioned it to us. Only up the road about 200 metres from Bali Spirit, this intimate Warung pleasantly surprised us with its varied menu selection and specials. The highlight for the evening was the wonderful flavours in all the dishes and authenticity to honour the uniquenesss of Balinese produce. The main dishes were so good that we decided to try dessert, something that we normally don't do. And once again, the banana crepe with a tuille basket with delicious ice cream impressed us. My wife had the banana fritters- crisp, hot and delicious. Kadek is a fully qualified chef and her knowledge of cooking is obvious. The other surprise the cost- very very inexpensive. The only negative perhaps was the unavailability of wine. After trying many of the "top" restaurants in Ubud over the years, this has to be classified as one of the best.

“still the best ,”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

i have reviewed d,wareong many times and am always thrilled at the way this little place keeps getting better and better .. this trip we booked into a class for the 2 of us in the courtyard with kadek , fantastic ... and what great value compared too the overpriced sanitised classes at honeymoon guesthouse .. i can now make a great peanut sauce and fabulous tempe ...

i had to reply to the very unfair comments recently made by a guest ... kadek does not use msg , i think lilaleuchten was having a bad day .. dont take out your issues on the restaurant ..

see you in february
