I was shocked when I saw the lobby faceing the valley. I was reservde the Ayung river view villa. Every morning I could sit in the balcony or walked in the valley, hearing the sound of the water running, looking at the beautiful scenery. I was enjoyed it very much. The sevice of villa was also very comfortable. Every hotel staff was very nice. So I will go back next time and recommend this hotel to my friends.

Room Tip: The Ayung river view pool villa is valued to choose.

I have never known a hotel can be bulit so beautiful. I was shocked when see it. I do not believe the pictures of brochure were ture untill visiting the hotel by myself. The hotel is like dream house in story, it can meet all your imagination about a wood villa, but it is so real! Lovely birds tweeted while Ayung river flowed in front of the villa very near, nothing more you can expect in your life? Stayed 2 days, have 60 mins free SPA and a free afternoon tea, get honeymoon cake and wine, also great service. Strongly recommend!!

Room Tip: Unmatched view and best hotel in Ubud

I stayed here for 3 nights on dec 3rd with my husband. We stayed at ayung river villa that is located in the corner, very private location. I really love the big round tub and beautiful princess bed:) The buttler and staffs are very friendly, especially our buttler. Thank you so much. But we are very disappointed with the food. The breakfast is not buffet breakfast, because we are muslims we had the same food daily, only nasi goreng or mie goreng and when we booked for romantic dinner which was really overpriced, the food was really awful, each menu came after 1 hour , we ended up fell asleep on our table and we had to order 3 glassess of smoothie to fill our tummy while waiting for the next menu to come. The management, please fire your chef! As indonesian, i am so disappointed that the food of romantic dinner is only western food. I love western food like steak, but not the one served at kupu barong. They served as cold undercooked salmon steak , rice mixed with mayo that they called risoto, my husband and i had nausea after trying them, the food was not so worth-waiting. The dinner started at 7 and we got our main menu which was the salmon at 12 night, guests be aware, don't book romantic dinner here. i suggest you eat at bebek bengil restaurant in ubud, it serves really tasty balinesse food at reasonable price. Please serve buffet breakfast and more menu such as indonesian food for the romantic dinner. Simple grilled fish, lobster with kecap manis and balinese sambal and rice would have been better menu for our romantic dinner. On our last day the heater didn't work at all, we were so disappointed we couldnt take hot bath, the water was so cold, we called room service to fix the problem but still we didnt get warm water until we checked out. Also please provide plastic bottles for the bath products so that we could take them home for souvenir. All the products are loccitane range, but the hotel is very stingy that we may not bring them home. This is the 1st time stayed at a very expensive hotel but i was not allowed to take my soap, shampoo from hotel.

If you're on your honeymoon dont bother looking at anyother hotel! This one is beyond awesome!

Service was excellent. Food was delicious. The rooms... ah the rooms! There's not much difference between the Ayung river room and the cheaper option but go for the Ayung river view rooms. The plunge pools are small but they are perfect for a dip with your new wife/husband after a long day out in the town.

They pamper you at this resort! Our butler, Made made our stay perfect. Took care of everything. It was my wife's birthday and it was our honeymoon so double trouble if I didn't get it right.

The location is nice. Not close to the market but they have a shuttle that will take you there and bring you back. Takes about 10 minutes. There are cheaper cabbies and you'd save about 20,000 IDR per trip. Eat at the hotel once but make sure you explore the restaurants in the town.

The views from the hotel are to die for. Expecially from your plunge pool. If you're lucky with the weather, you might even have clouds wandering into your room in the morning!

Paradise! Go for it you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: Stay at the Ayung river valley villa

my new husband and i stayed here on our honeymoon. it is the perfect place to unwind. we stayed in a club villa which has an incredible view of the river and is also fun to watch the rafters go by. the room is spacious and very romantic. the shower head is the best i have ever experienced and if i wasnt so worried about water conservation, i could stand in there for hours! the staff are great, very friendly and always willing to help or give you the correct information. the food at la view is beautiful! we had pretty much everything on the menu and there wasnt one thing we we didnt absolutely love. it is pricey but so good. the only thing was that our villa had another villa's balcony overhead which felt like they could see our balcony and pool area if they looked over the edge.
we did escape out to ubud and neighboring areas, eating out was a nice change price wise. the mango tree spa was the best i have ever been too. again, it is expensive but so lovely.
overall, amazing place but it is on the pricey side.

Room Tip: villa 19 has a balcony overhead

Kupu Kupu Barong was our last leg of our honeymoon. We stayed here 4 nights and it didn't disappoint even after staying at the Legian in Seminyak which was out of this world. The villas are fantastic. We stayed in villa 34 which is one of the club villas and is the best of the lot. It's located nearest to the river with great views of the river rafting. The villa has everything you need and is exceptionally romantic. We stayed with the honeymoon package which included a special private breakfast, evening dinner on the infinity pool;very romantic, 3 hour of spa treatments each and welcome drink and cake. They had also decorated the room for our arrival with flowers in the bath and on the bed.
The staff were very good and very attentive. We did read comments about the staff always asking what you were doing each day but to be honest, we did experience this but it was more of a language restriction than them trying to sell you trips. The staff were very good and always responded in good time to requests.
We also read complaints about the buggies not turning up or people waiting too long for them but we never experienced this. When we rang for a buggy they always said 5 minutes and picked us up within 5 minutes.
The hotel is one of he longest standing in Ubud and if there is any complaint it would be that some things are a little tired which to me takes it from a 5 star to a good 4. Due to its location it's extremely difficult I would imagine to keep the maintenance to an exceptional standard but they do try. They could do with replacing the towels as thin and old and to make sure their staff were wearing clean clothes! Sometimes the waiters had stains on their white uniforms which s a bit disconcerting!
Overall I would recommend anyone to consider this as an option for part of a holiday or honeymoon trip.

Perfect hotel, nice people, good service and good privacy. Perfect food - really delicious! Prices of course are high, but it worth. Spent 3 nights only and when we changed for another hotel near seaside - next day we want to return back to this jungle paradise :) ...

Room Tip: I'd like to be again in room Nr. 17
