“Average Hotel in a good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

I stayed at this hotel at the start and end of a tour. The first room I had on the ground floor was spacious and had a ceiling fan which cooled the room but the bathroom was very dirty. The second room was at the top of some very steep, narrow stairs and the only cooling system was a pedestal fan which menat staying in sauna like condiitions. A good breakfast is served near the pool but don't bother with this if you're in a hurry as the staff are not! The hotel has lovely landscaped gardens and a small pool.

Room Tip: Rooms with ceiling fans are coller.

We have been travelling for four months, and in that time have visited six countries. In that period we have enjoyed some beautiful guest houses, hotels, and gardens. However, the garden - or, more appropriately, the estate - on which this hotel is situated exceeds all others in its spellbinding beauty.

The garden property is immense, with cottages and rooms situated on a number of levels. All have private balconies that overlook a section of its beautifully manicured, creatively designed tropical paradise that has its own population of beautifully sculpted, gigantic gargoyles, alligators, lions, and other creatures who surprise you as you walk through the gardens. The centre of attraction is a large pool facing a rock wall with even more immense and magnificent carvings. Spellbinding.

The Artini 2 is explicitly Balinese, not only in decor but also in the traditional Balinese uniforms all the staff wear. The service was excellent, beginning with extensive introductory information and a complimentary beverage, and carrying through to daily room cleaning, excellent restaurant catering, and immediate response to any requests. The service extended well beyond expectation, however, when I found myself dealing with the stress of loosing my bank card to an ATM machine. Anyone who has experienced this overseas will know what I am talking about. The staff at the hotel took it upon themselves to track down my bank card for me, made arrangements for the card to be returned to the nearest bank, called the bank daily to follow up on the process, the completion of which took three days, and then drove me on motor scooter to the bank to pick it up. A very special thanks to our hotel attendants Madi, Ketut, and Jeffrey for making our stay at Artini 2 absolutely delightful.

Our stay here was magical, so much so that we extended it and spent more time than usual just relaxing on the grounds and enjoying the beauty of this oasis.

Treat yourself. Don't miss the opportunity to stay at the Artini 2 Cottages.

Room Tip: We totally enjoyed our private cottage across from but overlooking the pool, which was at the upper...

I loved the spacious pool and the clean area. The whole place is very pittoresque and the staff attentive. The rooms are allright, we were in the groundfloor though and due to the location in the valley, it was very humid and nothing really dried in the room. You need to turn on the gas heater for hot water.

Room Tip: Take a room in the upper floors

Stayed in Artini 2 cottages: good location, big rooms but pretty dark. The owner might also want to refurbish the bathroom. We stayed almost a week and several times we woke up without running water. The room was also not made up once. The staff was very nice but the running water was really an issue. The owner might want to address this as well.

We stayed here for three nights as part of an Intrepid tour and had an excellent room right at the back of the complex on a small hill. There was only one room next to ours, which made it beautifully quiet and secluded. I would really recommend that you ask for this room. There was a small problem with ants in the room, but the hotel staff helped some insect spray. Hey you are almost in the jungle at the end of the day!

For safety there is a safety box at reception. The bedroom doors don't actually close fully and only lock with a large padlock!

The bedroom itself is large with huge double bed and a sink. The bathroom we had unfortunately smelt of drains and there is no overhead shower, just an attachment over the bath taps, so not much fun.

The is a large pool, with pretty stone carving water features, excellent for an afternoon cool off.

An excellent bite to eat is cafe aptly named Kaffe, 5mins down the street if you turn left out of the hotel.

Locationwise the hotel could not be better. Perfect was getting around any way in Ubud on foot.

Stayed here at the beginning and end of an Intrepid Trip. Great hotel set in really nice gardens and pool. Rooms were really nicely furnished and comfortable. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Location is central in Ubud as well and everything in walking distance. Recommend this place if your looking for a really nice hotel on a budget.
