My husband and I stayed in Pita Maha Resort and Spa for 3 nights in Feb 07. This was after reading the excellent reviews. We were not disappointed and it lived up to all our expectations. The hotel was tranquil, village like with Balinese architecture at its best. We had a garden villa. I loved the private garden with its pool where we had afternoon tea and local cakes. The beautiful public infinity pool is also very quiet. Don't miss the early breakfast in the restaurant with personal service and serene hillside view. The hotel also has transport service to Ubud town which is nearby, offering plenty of cultural shopping. We shall be back soon!

We stayed at Pita Maha for 4 days in September 2006. We didn't want to stay in those busy touristic areas at the Balinese coast. And Pita Maha in Ubud was the right choice. It is about an hour drive from the airport and pick-up and return by the hotel is included in the room price. We were welcomed at the airport with nice cold bottles of water and during our drive to Ubud the driver provided us with written touristic information.

The hotel is very nicely located at a hill site and the location is really quiet. The hotel consists of 24 very spacious villa's with all facilities you want. These rooms are very private in their own walled garden. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Every 30 minutes a small hotel bus brings you to the village or picks you up. They also can bring you to the starting point of nice walks trough the surrounding hills and rice fields.

We had a totally relaxing and enjoyable stay.

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of October which is just out of high season - the reason, no doubt that the hotel was never more then half-full during our 10-day stay.We had orginally booked a basic villa but were upgraded to one with a plunge pool at no extra cost. The villas themselves were of a very high quality, being made of dark wood with marble floors, the shower and bath being partially outdoors. The villa was completely enclosed from others with a fantastic view over the hillside opposite. Itwas cleaned twice daily and, like everything else in the hotel, done in an efficient and courteous manner - nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. The Restaurant was clean and the menu varied - and we had a complementry last evening meal and bottle of wine due to our length of stay - it was touches like this that made the stay special. The food was excellent, service first - class and it was possible to have any meals in your villa if desired.
The pool and surrounding area were very clean - this is the perfect Hotel if you desire a quiet, relaxing holiday and one we would recommend to anyone.

Just returned from a week at Pita Maha celebrating our 20th anniversary. We picked the resort based on Tripadvisor's ratings. From the moment we arrived, we were overwhelmed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff (or should I say "friends", because that's what many of them became). Because there are only 24 villas (and God knows how many staff), it is much easier for the staff to get to know you well.

The villas are around 16 years old, but don't let this put you off. All of the stone has weathered beautifully and there is no aluminium or plastic anywhere. And, of course, the views from the very private villas are outstanding.

House restaurant is exceptional and reasonable - alternatively, try Mozaic just across the road, it's one of the very best retaurants in the world.

We stayed at the Pita Maha twice during the month of August for 4 & 5 nights respectively. The hotel is made of 24 villas each of them completely enclosed within walls so that privacy is assured. Ours had a plunge pool, but not all of them have one. The villa itself is extremely large, beautifully furnished with a huge king size bed, the shower and tub are outside and perhaps this is the only slightly negative side because if you want to take a shower after sunset there may be some mosquitos. The hotel seems to have been built within a tropical forest, the villas are connected one another with lanes and you get the feeling that you are walking in the woods: it is really a sight especially at night when you can also hear the sounds of the forest. The staff is very helpful and really makes you feel welcome, the newspaper International Heral Tribune is delivered daily to your villa free of charge, there is a also a free hotel shuttle to Ubud that takes no more than 5 minutes. The food overall is not exceptional, but then there are plently of places nearby where meals are also much cheaper. Breakfast is served on a split level open air restaurant from where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama and watch the squirrels going up and down the trees in front of you. All in all, this is certainly one of the best places we have been to in Bali.
