“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We have stayed here several times before and really enjoyed its excellent location and friendly staff. This time we took 8 friends and we were embarassed to have taken them here. We had pre-booked 5 rooms directly with the motel and they were not clean. The pool was out of commission due to filter failure. The staff were lazy - rooms were not cleaned until after 2pm even though we had all been out since 10am. They spent most of their time on their iphones. We wanted to contact the owner but the staff would not give us his details. We will be looking for another place to stay next year.

Room Tip: Rooms closest to the pool get hot water the fastest and the best pressure.

book the hotel on booking.com, when we arrived the swimming pool was half empty and green.ive booked the suite (45 dollards a night),and the room was very dark, with a very bad smell.the shower was dirty with some hot water after 15 min waiting for it.we stayed 30 min before leaving to find a better place to stay.we meet an other couple who was doing the same thing, leaving as soon as possible.

Room Tip: better walking around the homestay wich are good for money and have a very nice staff

1stly the good things, Young staff friendly & helpful if you can get their attention off their Iphones? management disinterested, very very close to shopping & cafes & resturants.
Now for the Bad The pool was very dirty & looked unwelcoming. very tired older hotel which badly needs a makeover. The room was large suite?? single bed & queen with broken slats, the mozzie nets were a good idea if they didnt have so many gaps that you couldnt close. Fridge mouldy, electric plug very dodgy, Had a TV but bad reception no DVD player. Bathroom would have been ok if they had cleaned it (young staff again the problem) under the basin & around the toilet was filthy, the bath shower plug had a heap of hair in it?? my Daughter wouldnt use it. glad we only had to stay 2 nights or I would have moved. Felt badly for other europeans who had booked for a week. sorry unless they do a management change & get the staff motivated I certainly wouldnt stay again.

Room Tip: Good luck with that one I dont think any of them are up to much & I asked a few others staying.

Great Location everything you need right at your door you step outside the resort to your right monkey forest ( 2 min walking ) and to your left the main street of Ubud ( 10 min walk ) all within walking ... NO taxi needed .. 2 shops to your right scooter hire ....the resort staff were lovely and helpful and the bonus is a great pool to cool down ..the room was ok clean and big with aircon but the shower was in need of updating and the smell of mothballs was awful and constant i had to buy room spray but it couldn't get past the smell when it was time to move on ( 4 days later ) i was unpacking at my next hotel all my clothes smelt like mothballs , if you are ok with the smell then it is a great hotel for the price .
PS only wifi in office area not in rooms

Surrounded by good restaurants and entertainment area.. unfortunately the hotel has seen better days...the room was quite spacious but the bathroom needs a lot of attention, it has that dark & gloomy feel.. the landscape/set up is good. Breakfast is somewhat mediocre. The kitchen staff need a good 'pep talk' and they need to give the kitchen a good scrub. Reception/front desk staff are friendly. I find the staff sit idly most times. The hotel pool is ideal for a quick swim to cool down after walking in the heat.
Despite some of these 'negativeness' it is still a good location.

Recent reviews indicated improvements in maintenance and service so I though t I would give this property a go.
The grounds and reception are plesant enough but from there its all downhill. The room was in a poor state of repair with flaking paint and mould across all the ceilings. There were poor repairs to the ceiling with extensive water stains and patches of material tacked onto the ceiling.. Rats running across the ceiling were an unwelcome intrusion and in the morning there was a decapitated rat on the balcony outside the room. The bathroom was in a poor state of repair with flaking paint and chipped surfaces. There was no hot water through out my time there and the bathroom had high steps, slippery surfaces and no handrails.
On the second night the water supply disconnected and a couple of nights later the power supply went down for several rooms.
The pool was smailish and had dirt across most of the bottom which was never cleaned. the four deck longers long past their use by date.
Overall not somwehere I would stay again and I suggest you look elsewhere..

This hotel isn't flash but then it was the cheapest one we found on Monkey Forest Rd and it's location is superb for restaurants and entertainment. The rooms have character and as you get two rooms they feel spacious. The pool was fine and great for relaxing around and cooling down. We had a very happy stay here and would happily return.

Room Tip: The rooms with a sort of entrance room are very appealing.
