“Get ready to experience real customer service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

This is certainly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The customer service is amazing. My friend was ill and the staff could not have been more caring, hospitable and helpful. They rang often (but not too often) to see how she was doing, drove me to the Pharmacy to pick up medications, offered to call in the Doctor, sent up cups of herbal tea and fruit platters - it was like the whole hotel knew she was ill and was genuinely concerned.

The hotel is beautiful, located perfectly in Ubud - you can get to everything easily by foot - anywhere that you can't get to the staff will offer to drive you for a small fee. The food is great, the turn down service is amazing (they give you pyjamas - awesome!), the whole establishment is cared for and so well maintained. SUPER CLEAN, which is fantastic - I am a little bit of a neat freak and seriously could not fault the hygiene standards of this place.

If you are looking for a romantic hotel this is also for you, with a few little surprises thrown in for couples. The rooms are superb and the bathrooms are fantastic.

Highly recommended - I'll be returning!

We only stayed for one night but it was great. The afternoon tea and breakfast was of a very good standard. The room was big and lovely. The location on Jl Monkey Forest was great. We really loved Ubud and would stay much longer next time!

This wonderful gem is located right on Jl Monkey Forest, at the heart of Ubud. Lots of local places to eat and shop at, right at the end of its driveway or within walking distance (otherwise rent a bike to ride around Ubud or use the hotel shuttle car). And the nature reserve Monkey Forest is just down the road, so the area is luscious and green.

Yet, the design of the hotel is such that the rooms are built away from the bustle of the road, so you can still enjoy the serenity and beauty of Ubud. The rooms at Komaneka are spacious and luxurious and for the price we paid, I thought it was good value and worth it considering some of the über high-end resorts and villas around Ubud that cost an arm and a leg. It makes for a romantic getaway or if you're just looking for some calm.

But the best part of our stay was the staff. They remember your names. They helped us make local calls and other travel-related enquiries. They remember any requests that you made during your stay. And they are not just friendly, they are sincere, the epitome of Balinese hospitality and the reason why I love this place and return visit after visit.

Will definitely recommend this place to friends and can't wait to return myself.

Room Tip: The rooms stretch out in a row away from the reception area. I guess the further in your room is, th...

From the moment we arrived at the Komaneka at Rasa Sayang to the moment we left there, my husband and I had a very positive experience. We were fortunate to have stayed at the very private Rooftop Garden Villa. It was very spacious, clean, stylish and modern. There were fresh flowers in the room every day and on our arrival there were fresh rose petals and frangipani flowers on our bed in the shape of a heart. The room was serviced everyday to a standard of a first day arrival. I was pleasantly surprised one day at the poolside by being presented with a fresh and delicious birthday cake with my name on it!! We found all the staff to be very pleasant and obliging, we had initial problem with the Apple TV, but the problem was rectified in a timely manner. We have travelled extensively around the world and in particular in South East Asia, we always stay at top end hotels and I can honestly say that the level of service, attention to detail and genuine wish to please we received from the staff at The Komaneka at Rasa Sayang was second to none. The hotel is very well located on Monkey Forest Road, many quality shops and restaurants/cafes within easy walking distance. Reception staff arranged a reservation and a car (free of charge) to take us to and from The Bridges restaurant, which we can also recommend. We enjoyed a meal, and on several occasions drinks at Three Monkeys, almost opposite Komaneka. We would definitely return to Komaneka at Rasa Sayang without any hesitation and would certainly recommend staying at The Rooftop Garden Villa. Thank you to the management and wonderful staff for a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: The Rooftop Garden Villa is very private, spacious and stylish.

We visited this hotel in Dec 2012 and chose it based on the reviews in Trip Advisor. How glad we are that we did. There was nothing during our stay that disappointed.
The hotel is ideally situated in a central part of Ubud, close to all shopping and the Royal Palace.Ubud itself is fairly congested and so views from the rooms arenot easy to come by. As it was, we had a ground floor room with no view but we hardly needed it. There is a beautifully peaceful garden leading off from the patio and the bedroom and bathroom are superbly decorated and appointed.
Breakfasts are served on a deck overlooking the pool area and this does have a view! The range of meals available are limited but everything is well prepared and served and there is a wide range of juices available. A major bonus is the complimentary afternoon tea served by the pool. There is a nice variety of snacks served with just about every tea you can imagine.
We made use of the spa and received a lovely massage followed by a soak in a bath full of milk! Heaven. The therapists were skilled and helped us to relax after our initial long journey to the hotel and subsequently after an arduous day's shopping or sight-seeing.
But the highlight has to be the staff, from the receptionists to the gardeners. Everyone greets you with a smile and welcomes you "home" after your day's outing. It would be wrong to pick out any one person as they all did their jobs to perfection. Congratulations to the Komaneka management in their training.
We had a wonderful stay and, if anything, it spoiled the rst of our holiday stays as we were constantly comparing our hotels with Komaneka.
Ubud is much bigger than we anticipated and a good tip would be to hire a scooter or car to make the most of what Ubud has to offer.

Room Tip: Rooms above ground floor may well have a view but we were hardly in our rooms so did not miss the la...

The Komeneka UBUD

The Staff at the Komeneka are so warm and friendly. Matty at the front desk was very helpful on all levels, he helped plan our time there, he helped us figure out what to do at night and he got us connected with a knowledgeable driver that helped us get away and see some other sights and the country side. The accommodations are wonderful and well worth the cost. The rooms are clean and comfortable, WiFi connected and have Apple TV. The pool is very nice and the breakfast menu has a great selection of local and standard Americana type meals. There is tea in the afternoon if you are around just head down to the pool and relax. They have a shuttle (free) to take you around Ubud if you should want to go catch a show, dinner or just go shopping at the main market. The main reason I would go back is the staff, they are so warm and friendly welcoming you in every time you walk through the doors - Welcome Home!.

Room Tip: If you can get a room on the top floor you get a view of the immediate neighborhood from the back ba...

When I picked the Komaneka Rasa Sayang from the many choices I found on the internet, I thought I was simply selecting a nice looking highly rated hotel at a reasonable price. But I was in for a pleasant surprise. Komaneka has a special culture that is rare to find anywhere in the world and makes your stay truly memorable.

We read about the hotel’s philosophy of developing people by allowing them to take on multiple roles and saw this in action – Agung, the front office manager, carved a tortoise for our daughter and drove us around while taking care of his other responsibilities; Indrayan attended to a small problem with our TV and we learned that he did the layout for a fantastic booklet that recounted the first decade of the hotel. And Budi the resort manager was friendly, approachable, and helpful. The leadership of the hotel has managed to unlock the hidden potential in people by recruiting local Balinese people and helping them grow in ways that is uncommon in most organizations – big or small. The result seems to be fulfilled and happy staff, a high performing hotel, and delighted guests.

We stayed in the roof-top garden villa and for once the facilities were far superior to the photographs! Every day we enjoyed the beautiful setting of our room, the choice of the tub, indoor shower, and outdoor piped overhead water for bathing; the selection of movies on Apple TV, the evening tea with Balinese rice cakes, the daily afternoon activities like wood carving, the outstanding breakfast, and the friendly service. We used the hotel car to drop us off at various restaurants and shops since we had two young children with us – at checkout we were pleasantly surprised to not find any additional charges for these short rides! Overall the high standards came with a value-for-money packaging that made us even more comfortable as we wanted a luxury holiday but were not looking to splurge.

Perhaps for the first time in my life, I actually regretted leaving a hotel, not just because I it meant saying goodbye to a beautiful place, but because I thought I would miss the warmth of the staff that would always welcome us “home” as we returned. I can’t wait to be a guest again at Komaneka.
