“Saturday night @ MOKO!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We had a blast last weekend. Treat burgers for food! tasty cold beers for the thirst and a great blues music for the mind.

Moko himself is quite a cool singer an guitar player, nice smooth and certainly bluesy, his younger brother a great entertainer and the mysterious sax player really blows his horn like nobody else on the entire island. A must go for everybody who likes good music on a Saturday night! Many thumbs up for this relaxed place, just outside the centre of Ubud in Peliatan but more than worth to make that U-turn. Thank you MOKO for a great night out!

“the best kept (music) gem in the entire ubud....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Visited this place with some friends last nigh for the first time and we were blown away, what an ambience, what a cool music, friendly staff and all greatly prized.
I've stayed for about 3 months in bali/ubud now, originally from Europe, exploring the Ubud night life in depth and on many occasions. Everybody is always talking about the jazz cafe, which is to be honest quite a sterile clean place, sometimes even not very customer friendly, chasing your drinking. Well here is a far better alternative; MOKO - the place is very charming and cozy, half open air, customer friendly, low key, casual and above all highly entertaining with the house band playing on saturdays and tuesday. Great musicians, the owner plays guitar and sings the blues beautifully, must be hard to run a music bar in Ubud :-) (after the show he sat at our table and turned out to be a great guy too), the lead guitarist plays very groovy solo's and last night there was a great guest saxophone player performing on a level and with a soul that even outside Bali could be considered pretty rare. Really impressive, what a fun making, highly skilled group of swinging musicians together. I didn't eat but was told by my friends the burgers are killing too! The only thing we didn't like the band stopped playing at 11 pm, do to the open air situation, which is very charming by the way. Anyhow paying a visit won't disappoint you, i bet. Cheers, Paul.

“Excellent music - a great place to find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

Five experienced blues musicians join with guest artists and create one of the best music evenings that you will find in Ubud. Moko's is slightly off the better known streets of Ubud, but is literally a stone's throw beyond the Arjuna Statue at the east end of Jl Raya. Currently they are playing Tuesdays and Saturdays (but not New Year's Day). Food is good and prices reasonable.

“A quiet and wonderful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

I went to Bali in June with a friend and her father who lived there since around 7 months. We spend a lot of time in Moko restaurant. We had the chance to know the boss. It's an amazing guy with a smile i never seen in my life. And it's a very good singer, his voice is wonderful ! His band play great song, they're all very nice. You can eat some really good food and there is a good choice for the drink with cocktails and local beers. I really advise you to go to this place, unfortunatly it's not very famous because it's not in the main street but if you arrive to find the place, you'll have a great evening with all the staff and Mr Moko of course....You'll feel like in your family house in the other side of the world :):):) How lucky you will be !

“Very nice small cafe and restaurant with great live music”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

My husband and I are now staying a long time in Ubud. Every week we go to Moko's cafe. Very nice cafe with a great band of 5 people. They play every thuesday and saturday, starting from 20.00 o'clock. They also have a small menu card. Mr Moko is a very nice man with a great smile. You can see they are enjoying to play. If you want to have a nice evening with live music, you must go there. It is at the end of de main street, behind the big statue, there is road, after 200 m at the left side. It is next to warung mina and across the street is Warung Mangu Madu. The band and also the staff are very kindly and happy.
