Just returned from a 1-week stay at PS in one of their suites (def worth the upgrade). This is a wonderful place, as many of the reviews here detail. Arrived late in the evening in the pouring rain and was greeted with a lovely welcome drink, a 1.5 hour massage then a yummy dinner. All the free perks are a wonderful bonus (fresh fruit, 3 course breakfast, village and rice paddy trekking, yoga, shuttle, bottled water). Laundry service was quick. Any request was met with a quick yes and completed promptly. I visited the spa 3 times (1.5 hour massage, health package, mani/pedi, scrub) and the quality was superb. The food is a shining highlight, very talented kitchen staff, wonderful flavors! Everyone was so friendly, helpful and efficient. Only a few minor quibbles that could easily be fixed: (1) the lighting in the rooms, particularly the bathrooms, is pretty poor, especially for applying makeup, those environmental bulbs just don't cut it; (2) the water pressure in the shower could use a definite power upgrade, but perhaps was an issue in my particular room; and (3) there was a bit of a musty smell in the sheets - at first I wrote this off as a hazard of visiting the tropics, but after staying in 3 other properties nearby and sleeping in heavenly-scented sheets at each of those hotels, I do think this is something that can be corrected. A final note, the property is a good 20 minutes outside Ubud, not really walkable. The shuttle is great, but it departs on the hour, so if you miss it, you are left waiting (or for the more adventurous, pay for a $3-$4 motorbike ride, which is easy to arrange in Ubud). The distance is a plus and minus - I liked being away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, up in the serence rice fields, but I did find myself rushing in the mornings to catch the shuttle, lest I be stuck waiting for another hour. Just something to bear in mind. Recommend this very special place without hestitation.

We arrived at Puri Sunai after an average rain soaked two days in Sanur and immediately felt relaxed and welcomed by the lovely staff. After a quick check in we were whisked upstairs for a complimentary afternoon tea comprising of local Balinese delicacies.
Our room was very clean, spacious with comfortable beds and a lovely marble bathroom. Each morning we woke to the sounds of the birds and enjoyed the complimentary yoga in the specifically built sacred/energetic space.
We enjoyed our daily free shuttle service to Ubud (15 minute drive) but found that within a couple of hours we were ready to come back to our little oasis Puri Sunai.
The two main things that have made this place so special is the delicious food and the friendly staff. Breakfast (included in the room price) is something we looked forward to after our yoga - homemade bircher museli and pasteries were a particular favourite. The evening meals were even more delicious with a choice of Balinese or Western food - the crispy duck was totally amazing.
All this made even better by the genuinely friendly staff especially Eko and Buda - not only were they attentive, polite and funny but welcomed us both to their village where we saw the 'real Bali' - a total treat.
The massage was the best we had in Ubud, although more expensive it was worth it (we tried a new place daily).
Without hesitation, we will recommend this place to all our family and friends - despite the torrential rain we look forward to coming back here again very soon.

Namaste.

We went on honeymoon to Bali, and we stayed at this hotel for 02 days, the hotel is small but super Cousy .
The room is nicely decorated, and they included an additional decoration for our occasion.
It is a hotel that was in the middle of the rice fields, and around the have a lot of trees and plants so have a lot of mosquitoes, but they offers the repellent against mosquitoes and it helps a lot. the staff is very helpful and always smiling.
The breakfast is great, few menu options, we tried the american breakfast, and it was great, warm bread and served in a super charming basket.
We had dined the next night in the hotel restaurant, they served those wonderful warm bread with a typical entree that was great, we asked to repeat it, was so good! and in the end still surprised us with a chocolate cake in heart shape was a delight.
We tried to use the hotel's Spa, it is nice, but they have one therapist most of the time. We wanted to do massage in the early morning or evening to go out during the day, but they had no therapist available for two people at the same time most of the time.
And one thing that we recommend to be improve, the wifi system, it is almost impossible to get 3g mobile signal, by being located far from the city center and the hotel wifi Signal are caught in the looby of the hotel only, leaving the rest fo hotel totally discovered.

This hotel was amazing. I found it on an Agoda special and saw the great reviews and went for it. I booked the hotel the day we checked in so I didn't do a lot of research. It was much better than I expected. Our taxi driver had a lot of trouble finding the hotel so they may need to advertise their address more clearly on booking websites. Check in and check out was easy and they let us check in early. The room was beautiful with a huge bed and a great bathroom with an amazing bathtub. Our room was located right off the pool so it lacked a bit of privacy but it was not bad. The restaurant was good and had a pretty view over the pool. We got room service brought to our room once and it was quick service and delicious. There was some construction going on so it was a little noisy but it wasn't bad. The welcome foot massage was amazing and I booked an hour massage at the spa that was excellent too. The location was pretty far from Ubud and was not walkable but there was a free shuttle to the city. The shuttle was nice but you have to commit to a pickup time which limits your freedom a little. Wifi at the hotel was decent. We also arranged a taxi from the hotel to Seminyak and that was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to couples looking for peace and quiet but not if you want to get out and explore Ubud.

Room Tip: Ask for a room further from the pool for added privacy.

First, the pros: Puri Sunia is a really beautiful resort. The rooms are lovely and light-filled, the public areas are lushly landscaped, and there are yummy-smelling flowers everywhere.

We also greatly appreciated all the freebies: free yoga every morning at 7am, free 3-course delicious gourmet breakfast, free bottled water in the rooms, free shuttle service every hour to Ubud town center (about 15 minutes away) and free fast wifi. One of my major pet peeves is when upscale hotels try to nickel-and-dime you for things like wifi and water, and Puri Sunia definitely doesn't do that.

Now, the cons: while all the staff were very friendly, they were also not very detail-oriented. During our three-night stay, multiple mistakes and mix-ups happened:

1) Our clothes came back from the laundry service with a pair of pants that did not belong to us;

2) They forgot about a cooking class we booked with them, and we weren't able to do it, which was pretty disappointing;

3) The bath included in our spa treatment was cold / lukewarm, and somewhat unpleasant (although the spa massages were really good!);

4) Most importantly, the scooter we rented through the hotel did not have working headlights, which is extremely dangerous on Bali's windy narrow roads. We only discovered this out on the roads after it started getting dark.

The staff were very apologetic about each of these issues, but at this caliber of hotel, you really expect them to get all the little things right. I would probably stay here again and recommend it to friends, but I would definitely double-check everything I book through them instead of just trusting them to take care of it for me.

The reviews say it is great, but it was the worst travel experience of our lives!

We had such a horrific experience at this hotel. We arrived at around 7pm and were greeted by the shift manager. He showed us around the resort and then lead us to our room, which we had paid upfront for our Honeymoon.

The room was full of bugs, but we didn't fuss too much.
Less than 10 minutes after we had started unpacking our things, I saw something dark scamper from the corner of my eye. Thinking it was a lizard or a frog, I went to investigate.

We soon found out that it was a RAT.... and there was not just one, there were THREE in the room.

They were coming in and out from the doors which surrounded the Villa.

We called reception immediately, and more than 20 minutes later, no one had come. So we called again, saying this situation was urgent.

The manager arrived with one of the other hotel employees, not phased by our discovery.

They tried to look for the rats, and managed to kill one of them right in the room, where I was sitting on the bed petrified.

My husband politely asked that we be refunded our money, as we had paid for the best room, and not longer wanted to stay in hotel where rats were freely living.

The shift manager was helpful at first and called the hotel manager to try and settle the situation. He promised that he would provide us with the hotel shuttle to where ever we needed to go.

My husband told him that he either wanted to be refunded the money or put up in a hotel for the same value that we had paid to stay there. At this point it is 9pm and the shift manager agreed. Asking us to pack up our stuff and meet him at the reception.

We did so very quickly.
He then spent the next 2.5 hours, trying to make as much money from the situation as possible.
We paid $900 for the three nights. He didn't want to book accommodation for more than $200 a night, making one excuse after another. Finally when we found a place and booked it, he told us that the shuttle bus would only take us to the centre of Ubud and that we would have to find our own travel from there.

His driver left us stranded in the middle of the street at Midnight. It was very unsafe, it was scary and it was completely unethical and immoral for him to have gone back on his word.

When we arrived at our other accommodation, nothing had been paid for and we had to pay for our first night's accommodation.

This experience was horrific and completely tainted our idea of Ubud! I would Highly suggest you stay away from this place. It might look beautiful, but the staff and rude unhelpful and completely immoral.

Room Tip: Don't stay here! RATS in their rooms!

Dear Miray, Om Swastiastu. Thank you for your review on trip advisor and we are sorry since you were feeling bad of our resort right after you arrived even we realized not all of your descriptions were happened. Our Manager on Duty greeted upon your arrival and escorted to your villa, and he also returned to your villa soon after you informed our receptionist that you found rats in your villa but they did not find it. We realized that our resort surrounded by rice field as noticed it in our website where the rat very possible to run in and out to our resort. Rice field is our nature in Ubud, and rat is so possible will come into a property while we only can control to minimize them by our pest control.
Your booking is a non refundable booking through an online agent. But you pushed to get cash refund to our staff immediately as your reason need to move to other resort straight away. In our procedure to move any cents of money we have a certain procedure and moving USD 900 sure can’t be done few hours in late evening time. And you refused all of our options as moving to our Suite which is in second floor just for your first night and in the following morning we can manage to move to where you would like to stay or move. Our staff offered another option to move to similar other resort around Ubud with free transfer but you pushed to return to Seminyak/Kuta, even we informed that was late evening. You said will find a taxi in Ubud as we agreed only can transfer you till Ubud Centre.
We are sure that you will feel another thing if you could stay in our resort first and experience with our services and products. We are keeping our best to ensure putting the customer service is our top priority. So our staff helped you to book a property in Kuta as you asked and being guarantee for your accommodations with their best, even finally we were made to pay more. Their regulation need a deposit only but we followed with the payment for whole accommodations in the following day.
We appreciated all your comments and compliments to our resort and will be really much appreciated if you could write equally with real situation and facts. We are sure other travelers can see the experiences after they stayed in our resort, even only one night whenever they want to spend their holiday in Ubud. Once again we are sorry not able to achieve your special expectation. Trust, Puri Sunia Resort has loyal customers and will have more in future. Suksma!
