4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013 via mobile

Every staffs have a warm smiles and homey service.
They speak English and some staff speak Japanese.
Room is crean and lovely.
So comfortable and can relax.
You can choice breakfast ; continental, Balinese and Japanese.

But, noisy voice of flogs at night and too small entrance to find hotels.

I have been to ubud numerous times over the past four years. This was my first stay at this guesthouse. I was attracted to its refreshing pool, free breakfast, beautiful views, and convenient location. I would stay here again.

"Secret" - There is no signage or landmarks that made us hard time to find the resort. Our taxi driver asked help from the locals just to locate Villa Kunang Kunang, and then someone gave us correct direction. We passed by thru a small alley in the rice field until we reached the wooden gate of the resort.

"Paradise" - Wow! This is it! Fantastic! An extraordinary resort with 3 beautiful villas situated in the rice fields. We opted to stay in their huge Traditional Rice Barn Villa (loft type) with nice beds, comfort room and terrace that made us feel pampered. During our bedtime we heard sounds from crickets, frogs and some nightly creatures. Made, Kadek and Widya are great resort staff, from the moment we woke up until we fell asleep they see to it we enjoyed Ubud. Widya came to us as our tour guide and driver to and from the resort. He also escorted us with our transfer to Seminyak.

I will definitely return to Villa Kunang Kunang on my next trip to Bali.

We (family - kids aged 10 and 12) stayed in the rice barn during the first week in October 2012. The location is very convenient for town via the provided courtesy car, though you can walk into the centre which takes approximately 15 - 20 minutes. Made and his staff were absolutely superb, nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfasts were fantastic, after eating them you didn't feel like having any lunch! The rice barn was beautiful and the deck was situated immediately adjacent to a pond full of wildlife. The kids loved sleeping upstairs on the mezzanine floor. WiFi also a plus (I reserved our airline seats whilst sitting on the deck, surrounded by rice fields whilst drinking a Bintang beer!). The complex is situated in the middle of rice paddy fields and we had a couple of interesting conversations with the local farmer! We had no insect bites but we were staying in the dry season. The frogs in the pond are noisy for a couple of hours after dusk but that added to the experience for us. There is very slight traffic noise (barely noticeable) in the morning (not loud enough to be intrusive/annoying). We would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: All villas very nice but I would recommend the ricebarn for a great experience.

Peaceful well appointed accommodation with fantastic staff and service. Overlooking rice fields and located just out of Ubud these villas have a lovely relaxed feel, but with all the luxury you'd expect. The villas are a good size for families, and with only three villas in the complex it is quiet and personalised. The best selling point however is the friendly and helpful staff. Made Widia, Made Bala and Kadek Aria were fantastic young guys who, after cooking a fantastic breakfast (try the banana pancakes!), would pick up our 6 month old son and play with him lovingly while we ate. They would drop us in the centre of Ubud each day just to be helpful and organised everything from takeaway being delivered to transfers to Sanur. The villas are a little out of town, a bit too far to walk daily, and quite hard to find, but are a great little hideaway from the bussle of Ubud. We would highly recommend Villa Kunang Kanang (otherwise known as Udud Hidden Villa), especially for families wanting something secluded with lovely trust worthy staff.

Room Tip: The checkered room is better than it looks on the internet.

We were staying there from Oct 30 till September 4, 2014.
The location is on the edge of Jalan Andong, where all the wholesale and retail shops lies on the two sides of the street which are easy for shopping.

The privacy of it place and viewing the nice terrace fields every morning made us feel a great escape away and living with nature.

The Triple Ma-de who are wonderful staffs of the Villa made us feel warm and as if they are our family members. Thanks for your guys for your great service and smiles all the time.

We cook some Thai Omelet and Made was quick to learn our recipe, hope in the future you are being able to challenge some to serve the future Thai Group coming. We named that simple dish as Kai Jieow.

We would surely return the next time next year to this property.

The rooms are very of Open Plan, which everyone was not quite sure if there would be some gekko or mosquito, however towards the 5 days stayed, there were not even any person of our group got bite by the insects. It was indeed very clean and natural as it has promoted.
2 thumbs up for this property.

We were so impressed by the Villa surroundings, the staff, the food, the service and the location. When we arrived we were so taken with the beautiful location and bungalow accommodation. In fact, it is not often the place looks better in real life than it does on the internet, but this was definitely one of those occasions. The Villa was kept very clean and each day you could see how hard the staff worked to maintain the high standards. Our open plan accommodation suited our family and the balcony was a great place for us to sit after the kids had gone to bed. The breakfast was fantastic and offered a variety of fresh food. My husband was a particular fan of Made's delicious Nasi Goreng. The real highlight was the staff. They looked after us so well and the kids loved their interactions with them. As others have said nothing was too much for them and as we had different experiences at other accommodation we realise how great it is to have hosts who genuinely want to share their culture with you. We have no hesitation in recommending this Villa for anyone wanting a more traditional experience of Ubud. We will most definitely return (hopefully sooner rather than later). Thanks Made, Made and Kadek for such a wonderful time.
