Thank you so much for spreading the word about Taksu as we are still relatively new to the Ubud scene and many people do not realize the wide range of services we offer. It is constantly evolving, so hope you will return often. We have some fabulous new yoga classes starting in April, so may be see you then.

“Thanksgiving/Christmas Buffet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Incredible Buffet:
Organic Roasted and/or Smoked ”Betutu” Turkey* - I only had the Betutu turkey! It was the best tasting and moistest turkey ever! I'll have it again at Christmas!
Stuffing and Giblet Gravy - both were great
Roasted Cream Pumpkin Ginger Soup - very good and great flavor
Organic Green Salad with basil vinaigrette dressing - wow, love the dressing
Red potatoes - Fantastic!
Mashed potatoes - very good
Wild Mushroom Ravioli - very good, nice alternate for some people
Cranberry, Pineapple & Walnut Salad - great!
Pecan Pie - wonderful
Pumpkin Pie - also great
Apple Cobbler - fantastic, perhaps my fav, except for:
Raw Cacao Avocado Pudding - WOW. Everyone raved about it at our table.

All set up as a buffet. Wonderful service a nice view over the trees.

I've eaten breakfast here several times and it was also very good food and a very good value.

Try this place!

Thank you for your generous and detailed review of our Thanksgiving buffet. The smoked, Balinese style turkey is something we experimented with several years ago, not really knowing if such a large bird would work when the Balinese are used to chickens to cooking in their smoked betutu style.. It was a risk, but we have never looked back as it is one of our most well-known holiday dishes now. We strive to deliver traditional dishes, but using local ingredients. The Balinese purple sweet potatoes are a twist on traditional yams, but becoming a real favorite on buffets and on the normal menu. Mashed potatoes will always be a staple on the carbo front, along with pasta, red rice, and white rice.

Hope to see you for the Christmas day buffet starting earlier at 4pm this year. Equally as yummy, but with some new dishes to try!

“An insiders tip...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

We live in Ubud and frequent Taksu weekly for either lunches, breakfast or one of their great spa treatments. Our favorite Sunday morning choice for brunch is Taksu because it's in the middle of Ubud, has great food and WIFI and is a quiet retreat from the hustle of the village. Lunch here is just as good...Soba noodles with tarragon creme sauce is my favorite dish.

Another great thing about Taksu is that when they give a new service, like Thai Massage or Esalen Massage or whatever new treatment they are rolling out, they always give it away for free for a few weeks to anyone to try as long as you give an honest appraisal in return. Therefore, when they do open the new doors for a treatment, it is top notch.

We give this place our highest ranking.....you must check it out.

As a fellow Ubudian, we value your opinion and appreciate the feedback to allow us to better serve those of who love Ubud so much. We hope you continue to enjoy many more fabulous meals at Taksu, as well as our spa practicums. In several months time, you will also be able to enjoy dinner service!

“Great Spa - Wonderful Surroundings!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012

I didn't eat at the restaurant but went to the spa. Taksu Spa is pricier than some of the other spas around Ubud but the surroundings and the quality of the massages make this a good place for those who are willing to pay more for a better sensory experience.

The massages are in individual rooms complete with shower and tub so there's lots of privacy. Couples can have massages together. The masseuses do know what they are doing and have been well-trained. Best of all walking into Taksu Spa is great because of the way the place is designed and laid out. It's beautiful!

Everything on the premises, the toilets, the towels, the shower, the toiletries, the lockers are well-kept and well-maintained. This sometimes doesn't tend to happen in other spas where only the outside reception area looks spick and span and polished, but as one goes into the spa, signs of wear and tear and neglect then become apparent. It's clear that there's attention being paid to small details as well - all the rooms are well ventilated and allow for privacy and also let in the sounds of nature which can really enhance the massage experience.

Highly recommended are the yoga classes at Taksu. I attended several in the time I was there and found the classes wonderful with teachers willing to devote time to sharing their experiences and helping you get more out of your sessions, so it does not feel like a mass exercise class. The great thing is that the classes are held almost in the open with the sounds of the river just running below. Make sure you come with bug spray although the teachers are very thoughtful and do share theirs with you. The mats are cleaned out after every session, as I was told and drinking water is available.

Overall, the prices for the spa may be higher than others, but for the quality of the surroundings and the masseuse, I'd say, it's well worth it!

“Very relaxing setting tasty food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

Went here for lunch on a wet day not expecting very much. We were very pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, the seats very comfortable with view straight into a jungle type setting. Our healthy smothies drinks were very tasty and refreshing, h recommended. We had soup, salad and the Balinese fish special. At 35000 rpthe special was superb value, a fresh piece of fish cooked to perfection. Over all very tasty food and drinks at very good prices. Recommended
