“"Another Piece of Heaven on Earth!"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

Apologies for the delay in posting my review!

Pure Perfection..... What else can I say!!

From arrival to departure of this flawless hotel, there are no words to describe our experience apart from amazing and perfect.

The Samaya Ubud is located inland within the tropical cultural heartland of Bali a total contrast compared to the Samaya Seminyak, which is a beach located hotel.

First and foremost the staff are what make this hotel an unforgettable memory.

The hotel has been completed to a very high 5-Star standard, the accommodation is immaculate and has a home away from home feel, and the additional bonus is your own private pool, the only downside was that the entire pool was the same depth at 6ft; I did not use it but my husband loved it!!

You are allocated with a 24-Hour butler but we did not really use their services, we just wanted them to come over for a chat rather than do anything for us. Reception staff was constantly on hand to meet all our needs and requirements and to be honest the service we received from every member of staff was flawless.

Samaya Ubud but maintain identical service and standards as their sister hotel the Samaya Seminyak but they are slight differences.

You can have breakfast whatever time of the day suits you with extensive choices, again you can have as many dishes as you desire. The food is sublime; there is a very high standard of chefs and staff employed within this hotel, which makes your dining experience regardless of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner an absolute delight and pleasure.

The Swept Away restaurant located by the river is breathtaking, the A La Carte menu was sublime, the service attentive and consistent. You can choose to have any of your meals during the day at this location, which is absolutely beautiful.

There is a complimentary car service (a lovely gesture) that will drive you in and pick you up from Ubud when and whatever time suits you, to be honest nothing surprised us the longer we were stayed, the service is not only fabulous but also second to none.

You are left to your own desires throughout your stay and nothing is too much trouble for the staff, we miss them dreadfully and think about them regularly along with the lovely Manager’s Wayan and Putu.

The only other major downside was having to leave, you are so far away but you will always in our hearts, we miss you all..... Hopefully, we will be able to visit again in the not too distant future.

Serene surroundings, tropical gardens, perfected privacy, sensational spacious villas, private pool, top quality restaurants and spa, friendly & exceptional service by all staff.
We could not fault any aspect of this gorgeous resort & highly recommend it to those in search of that something special.

Our stay here was amazing! Perfect holiday in a perfect location. The staff and service was very helpful and ready for all your questions. We very much appreciated the privacy we felt here. The restaurant was very good, breakfast was rich and overall we had a really great time!

I came here on honeymoon in early May. We had read a lot about the place but staying here exceeded our expectations, there is good reason why this is the No 1 hotel in Bali. Staff were friendly ,very attentive and everyone one of them knew us by name (even the ones who we had not met before.) Stunning location, great food at the Swept away restaurant and beautiful rooms and views!!

My 3rd trip to bali and this is the best villa i have stayed in by far. A bit expensive but you def get what you pay for. It is secluded but still quite near the town centre, overlooking the padi fields so was a great view while having breakfast. Breakfast can also be delivered to your villa at no extra cost and there is no set timing for breakfast which is great for late risers. There is also a free shuttle to town at almost any time which is a great convenience as some other hotels charge for in villa dining as well as shuttle services if the time is outside the fixed timetable. Riverside villa has its own private pool and best ever jacuzzi and buggy services to take you from your villa to the lobby. The massage was one of the best but they didn't have many choices for facials which could be better done elsewhere. The staff were immaculate and service was top notch as everyone is always greeting you and looking for things in which they can help with. We had dinner at the swept away restaurant and the staff asked if there was anything wrong with the food when they noticed I didn't eat half of it and when I said i was just full and not because of the food quality, they offered to bring it back to the villa for me to finish later. Food was just ok tho, no wow factor so should try one of the better restaurants outside. There were 2 free activities, a 1 hr morning walk to the padi fields and a 90 min cycling tour. the cycling was great on the way out as its downhill and passes through nice back alleys but was pretty tough coming back uphill on the roads. All these + the afternoon tea, turn down services and the hassle free check in/out was great value for $. I would recommend this place anytime over some of the other villas in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms near the river is great for easier access to the restaurant and spa without having to call the...

Pure 5* luxury, perfect for a short romantic break. Food in the Swept Away restaurant was excellent although not cheap was worth it. Riverside Villa was luxurious with its own pool and jacuzzi. Staff and service were to a very high standard.

With such outstanding reviews, we had no hesitation booking our villa at the Samaya, however it still managed to exceed expectations. Every need of their guests is anticipated and fulfilled, with genuinely warm and friendly service, from the butler service to escort guests around the steep and sizeable property, to the attentiveness of the restaurant staff who, when my husband added too much chili to his Bali breakfast porridge insisted on bringing a fresh bowl.
The driving service into the centre of Ubud, the transport service to and from airport (or Sister property in Seminyak - a good idea if you have a late flight), the restaurants (see separate review), the cooking class and the spa are all faultless. The spa staff are exceptional, their products amazing and the view over the river combined in the best facial I've ever had (and I've had a lot!)

I was here for my birthday, and the beautiful team coordinated with my husband some very special "surprises" that made my day unforgettable. (There was no additional charge for this)

The value-adds we received such as afternoon tea, transportation, turn down service, evening petits fours made this excellent value for money.

Our experience is best summed up by our breakfast attendant (Mahendra, I think), who expressed sadness at our leaving that day as "you have a new, big family here at the Samaya". We certainly felt at home, and can't wait to return.

I would without hesitation recommend this beautiful place to anyone seeking to enjoy the best of Ubud whilst immersing themselves in beautiful food, spa treatments, luxury villa accomodation delivered by the resort's best asset - their wonderful, wonderful people.

Room Tip: Rooms by the river are spectacular - you can hear the river rushing by 24/7.
