“Fantastic villa and people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We have a hillside villa and requested ahead to have a view of the Bali fields which they fulfilled. I would suggest the hotel cut back some of the overgrown shrubs though which definitely restricted the view. I think the hillside villas are in better location than riverside. Breakfasts and view at breakfast amazing. Transfers to and from Ubud were efficient and complimentary. Staff really make the effort.

Room Tip: request a hillside villa with view of rice fields.

At first, I had a difficulties to find direction to the hotel, because I rent car from the airport. But after I pick up a phone and call, they were very helpful so in a matter of minutes, I arrived at the hotel. The welcoming staffs are very friendly.. and my butler, Yoga drove us to our Villa. Facing ayung river, the villa is very spacious with outdoor poll and a terrace where we can have our afternoon coffee or breakfast. They even take the time to decor our indoor whirlpool with flower petals and give us complimentary anniversary cake. Lucky for us our Villa is just a step away from the restaurant and spa. But even when I need a ride to the lobby, the boogy car will arrive in a minutes. The breakfast is wonderful, they will make anything that you asked for.. and with smile.. Spa was great, the place is very clean and neat. Went for cycling and enjoy it very much..
Overall, this was one of my best stay in Bali.. definitely will come back..

Room Tip: Try to asked the villa facing ayung river, if you like the sound of the river.. very calming..

Truly a hidden gem on the hillside.

LOVED our secluded villa with Private Pool. Water was clean and didn't smell strongly of chlorine. Bathroom is huge and gorgeous, LOVED the big bathtub with jets, and all toiletries provided, including bug spray. Room is spacious, well furnished and clean.

The service staff are all impeccably well mannered and they go out of their way to ensure the guests really want for nothing. Every touch point was just such a pleasure.

The driver for pick-up from the airport came prepared with ice water and strawberries in the car. The 24hr reception and butler service are responsive whenever you need anything and they really make you feel it's their genuine pleasure to help.

The morning power yoga was so invigorating in the tropical rainforest environment.

The Spa session was better than any I've experienced in Bangkok, Bintan, Batam and even in Siena, Italy!

Food for breakfast at The Scene and Dinner at Swept Away were all delicious. Service was also very prompt and staff are friendly & knowledgeable of ingredients.

Overall, some may find this play pricey but I'd say it's well worth every cent.

Stayed there as a family and it was wonderful from the time of checking in. The staff there are so wonderful as they are usually all smiles and try their best to meet your requests. The villa was very nice too, clean and spacious. Lighting though, could be better at the sofa/TV area. The pool in the villas at 1.8m is just too deep, even for adults! The pool at the spa was better, at 1.45m. Massages there were very good and professional, with nice facilities. The food was yummy, for both restaurants there. The breakfast is an all you can order and eat kind of thing, so it's a foodie's paradise. Dinner is by the riverside so it's nice to hear the flow of water while you eat. Buggy service is provided by the hotel unless you want a good workout. Very steep slopes to walk on if you want to give your heart a workout. The shuttle service to Ubud town (about 10 minutes ride) is great too. They drop you off where you want to, and pick you up on time. They also offer hikes, on foot or bicycle to see the rice padi fields. They've done very well to keep their guests happy, from the manager to the service staff. They are very attentive to talk to the children too. I also liked their approach to hire people from the nearby village. Gives it a more homely feel to the resort.

I had a nice experience with Samaya Ubud since they pick me up in the airport. They taking care me as a VIP. With cold towel, cold drink and a crunchy peanut, the car bring me to this beautiful resort. This resort lay on the hill facing the ayung river Ubud. The One Bedroom Pool Villa very modern with natural touch. Spacious room and also spacious bathroom. They have bath tub with jacuzzy. Breakfast is very nice. The restaurant is rather far if you stay near the Ayung River. But don't worry, the boogy car will pick u up and transfer u back to the villa. Spa is really nice, Manicure and pedicure are very good also... Good resort if you want pampering yourself and also your spouse together... Recommended for Honeymooner...

My wife and I just returned from a 3 nights stay in The Samaya Ubud. What else can we say about the hotel that isn't already mentioned in the past reviews. What delighted us the most was the impeccable service at the hotel. Service staff was always around to offer assistance but yet not appear intrusive. Buggy ride within hotel premise and private shuttle to Udud Centre were always prompt and on time. From the time we checked in (done at the room itself) to the point we checked out, service level never once dropped. Meals at the restaurant were excellent, great food coupled with excellent settings at The Scene (view of padi fields) and Swept Away (steps away from the river). The variety of food on offer is excellent. Though the spa was pricier than the various offerings in Ubud Center, you are assured of an excellent massage in wonderful ambience. The hillside villa is nicely done up. The only fault I can find is that the pool was a tad deep at 1.8m. Overall, it was a great experience and we would not hesistate to return again!

If you're coming to Bali, you should definitely consider staying at this marvelous resort. My wife and I had the most amazing time. Very relaxing and peaceful. Facilities are excellent and the staff are extremely gracious!
