This place has lots of pluses as well as a few minuses. Best if you know the score in advance.
It is family run and the staff are friendly and helpful. Wyan and Neuman will take you around to see sights for a reasonable fee; Wyan in his car and Neuman on his motorbike. Breakfast is included, consisting of fruit, toast, butter, jam, and a cup of coffee. If you want eggs, they can be supplied for a small extra charge.
The kitchen is undergoing renovation, and meals are cooked nearby in a staff member's home kitchen. Still delivered hot, but nothing of a gourmet nature available.
The advantage of the cottages here is their view and the fact that they are away from the street so that they have less traffic noise. Best if you recognize in advance that they are fairly basic in terms of such refinements as screens on the windows and doors that close tight. They will supply you with a mosquito coil to use in the evenings and the four-poster bed has a mosquito net.
Bathroom has an open roof on one end. You will see plenty of ants. Hot water is available, but delivery is sporadic. I've heard this is a problem in much of Ubud and is not unique to this property, but I can't really say firsthand.
Cleaning staff (young cousins) comes everyday, and they do tidy up and sprinkle fresh flowers about, but they don't really make everything spic and span. If you are fastidious about things like that, this is not your best choice of lodging.
Lovely front porch with a table and two chairs for reading a book and eating a piece of fruit. They bring a thermos pitcher of hot tea early every morning. It's very peaceful out there. My cabin was a single, though I saw some which were doubles.
They are currently rebuilding the swimming pool, so if poolside lounging is high on you priority list you should pick someplace else for the next month or two. I was told it will probably be done in September.
Five or ten minutes walk will bring you to a selection of good restaurants and upscale spas. An inexpensive laundry is right next door, which is very convenient. I found a shop where I could buy an Indonesia SIM card near the laundry, and across the street was a shop which would print my boarding pass.
They kindly let me have a 3 pm checkout at no extra charge, and I really appreciated that.
All in all, a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and I would recommend this place to others with the above specific caveats.
