Stayed in august and had an incredible experience. The staff are so helpful and always greeting with smile. This hotel is very a perfect place for honeymooner and for calm and quite spending of time together. Our villa with own infinity pool was unbelievable, cause of view from it. No negative feelings remain after departure just desire to come back one more time.

We stayed at the Purist for 5 nights in July and absolutely loved it, the place is sooo beautiful and serene that we relaxed as soon as we arrived. We were lucky enough to get upgraded to the Garden Villa and loved it so much, that most evenings instead of going into town we would just relax with a bottle of wine in the outdoor seating area, reading a book and listening to all the nature around us. I treated myself to a mani/pedi and private yoga session whilst there and both were excellent. We also participated in the couples massage and i think by the end of the 60 minutes we were both half asleep, it was so relaxing.
My only criticisms would be the fact that you are charged service and tax on absolutely everything including a can of drink from the mini bar, so a can of pepsi ends up costing 6 dollars instead of 4 when you have just taken it out the fridge, likewise with the crisps. I think that they should make allowances on certain items and add it onto a bill at the end of the day as we got a bit of a shock with all the additional tax charges.
I would also recommend that there is more information available on local activities that you can participate in. They have a brochure, which includes a few tours that they can arrange for you, but when we moved onto our next hotel in Nusa Dua, the hotel had a guest services area with loads of leaflets on tours and excursions available in Ubud and surrounding area, and we were a little disappointed that there were actually many more things we could have done in the Ubud area, had we been made aware of them. Having just come from Ubud we didnt want to then start travelling back up there for activities when we could have done them during our stay at Ubud, so we feel we missed out a bit on that.
I would highly recommend The Purist as somewhere to stay in Ubud. I originally thought that we might be too far out from the center, but actually it is a 5 minute taxi drive costing 30000 or a lovely 30 minute walk, which we did one day.

We started our holiday at The Purist in Ubud for 5 days and ended our holiday for 3 days. And we had no regrets, in fact we would do it again! The Purist is situated just outside the centre of the village, beautiful quietly situated. We stayed at the villa Joglo, when you enter this villa you have this, "wow" feeling which actually never stops until you leave the Purist. The jungle landscape is your view from your living and is impressively beautiful as is the decor of the villa. In front of this villa you have a perfect size pool. The service has been more than kind and was excellent, especially for the kids very very kind, and the food was great. We ate many times at the villa. Ubud is a very inspiring place and most of all a relax place to spend your holiday. The children experienced the same and there were many trips to make for the kids in the nearby area. We had an incredible time at The Purist and will definitely return to this special place.

We stayed in the Garden Villa at The Purist for four nights during our honeymoon. The villa was unbelievably good, gorgeous bedroom, large bathroom with outdoor spa style shower and large granite bath. The pool was large and had a great outdoor dining area and sofa. The villa was very quiet and private. Breakfast was good and we ate it in the villa.
Staff were polite and helpful, it was rare that you just saw staff around, and we think this is part of the ambience they were trying to create!
We never ate dinner in the hotel, we were told to order at least an hour in advance which didn't really suit our plans but it was easy to eat out in Ubud. We use the free shuttle bus at 5pm and then got a taxi back to the hotel which cost 50,000 rupiah (£2.50) and were very easy to find.

Not in the heart of things some would say but it more than makes up with some excellent service, fabulous food and beautifully done up villas. We were upgraded to the garden villa which had a large pool. The food was so good we had most of our meals in the Purist rather than venture out. My husband tried out the massage and said it was the best he had ever experienced. We know for certain that we will stay here the next time we are in Ubud.

We stayed initially for 4 nights in the Garden villa then returned for a further 4 nights and stayed in the River Residence with our daughter and partner.. We have travelled extensively throughout the world and this is undoubtedly the best hotel we have ever stayed in which is indeed a major achievement.

The use of the world "villas" in the title of the hotel maybe initially misleading, The Purist is a HOTEL with exquisite individually designed villas all to the highest possible standard. Each combines a strong Balinese design but contrasted with exceptionally modern design elements. You will have to thumb through the pictures to decide which villa you prefer. Having now stayed in two and viewed a number of the rest they all excite. Why would anyone want to go back to a hotel where all the rooms are broadly similar straight from the interior designer's drawing board?

The Purist's food also require special mention. It is possible to eat in your room (each villa has a dining table), eat on your deck or by your private pool. We only ate in the restaurant area once which was also excellent. The food is very carefully prepared and presented although given that you are in Ubud, the culinary centre of Bali, it is by no means the only choice.

Even with all the above it would not be our best hotel ever if it wasn't for the amazing staff. Balinese hotel staff are always well trained and very attentive but in the Purist without exception the staff are an amazing team who deliver great service without being over stuffy or intrusive.

What would we change? Well we would want it on wheels so that wherever we went next it was miraculously there..

Room Tip: They are all so very different you really need to study the photos and decide which have the right f...

We stayed at Purist for the first 3 nights of our honeymoon in Bali. We spent the first night in the Hill Villa and the next 2 nights in the Garden Villa. First of all I would like to mention the great way in which we were greeted by the staff despite our late evening arrival, first by the driver who picked us up from the airport and then at the villas. We were given frangipani flowers to put around our necks, received a nice honeymoon dessert upon arrival, and found the bathtub ready and full of rose pedals. Most of the above are standard practice in luxury villas in Bali, but for us - having never been - marked a great start for our honeymoon.
The property is beautiful with great attention to detail, very appealing, modern design, great architecture, awesome design furniture (if you're into this sort of thing) and - most importantly - you get the feeling of actually being amid the jungle, which was what we enjoyed the most.
Breakfast served in the villa was delicious and the range of things on offer was satisfactory. It was always served on time.
Service was excellent and all staff members referred to us by our first names - which was nice.
They were very knowledgeable and eager to assist with reservations, suggestions for activities etc.
Overall we had an excellent stay at the Purist and would recommend it very highly for guests wishing to be pampered and enjoy a truly luxurious and romantic experience.
The only reason I did not give the Purist a 5* review was the shuttle service, were I feel there is room for improvement, as the complimentary shuttle to and from Ubud only runs 3 times a day and we felt we had to arrange our schedule around those times or arrange alternative transport on oue own.
Finally I would like to make a personal mention to our excellent driver Widi, the best of many drivers we came across during our stay. He was our guide for two whole-day tours that we arranged all over the island, always smiling, fluent in English, ready to take photos etc when we asked, accommodated our requests to deviate from the tour schedule and make an impromptu stop at a Kopi Luwak plantation. Thanks Widi, keep up the good work!

Room Tip: The Hill villa is beautiful, its private pool is a bit smaller but the veranda overlooks the main po...
