“A luxurious home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013 via mobile

Stayed there during 8-11 October. Originally booked for a two bedroom pool villa but got upgraded to the only three bedroom pool villa which is considered as the president suit according to their staff. There are only four of us so we took the two suits up stairs for better view. All rooms have the same design and layout: half of the room featured with a king size bed covered with white mosquito net, a coffee table, an entertaining TV-DVD set, two sofa, a mini-bar and a writing desk right behind the bed; while the other half room is an open, spacious walk-in ensuit with a bathtub, shower cube, two (yes, two) sinks, a toilet cube and a storage area for clothing. All wires and gadgets are covered with batik to give a uniformly Balinese style (noted that the owner Koman and his wife are both dedicated artists). A bottle of aqua beside the sink gives you a hint of how considerate of their service. Everything you could think of and those you couldn't, they had them all well-managed. I love the silky, comfy sleeping gown they provided. Not to mention the towels provided in the room and beside the pool are always fresh, fluffy and smelled good. Their home made cookie is so tasty I actually asked their friendly staff to pack some for us when checking out. And their friendly staff, always smiling and helpful, are the soul of Komaneka.
Have to point out their SPA. Professional and worth each penny. There is always a cheaper SPA out there but I just wanted to point out that all services they have are in equal standard like they only provide the best. And the food god the food they have. Even the breakfast menu will take you a few minutes to go through all options, from bubur ayam to omelette plus fresh juices and pastry baskets. Every night you'll decide what you want to have for the next morning. Always a hard choice. For luch dinner or supper have to try their nasi goren, fish sate and tom yum soup. Yum. Although no private butler the 24-hour room service is brilliant. One of us caught a cold and had fever and a nasty stomach bug. They arranged a visit of the on-site doctor to our villa within an hour and saved my friend's pathetic *ss, literally. And in the next day we were greeted by the day-shift staff in the front desk, asking our lucky boy if he was getting better. The only tiny little down side is the location. A bit far away from Ubud center. They got it complemented by providing free shuttle every hour from 8 am to 10 pm. Good if you want to have a quite get-away and also keen on reaching the outside world for a palace visit or souvenir haul.
Shouldn't say too much. Might not be able to book a room for my next visit.

We stayed for four days in July with our teenage children. The hotel was beautiful. The grounds are stunning, with beautiful landscaping throughout. Our rooms were large and connected through the balconies, which worked wonderfully. The beds were super comfortable and the bathrooms beautifully fitted out and huge. The service was warm and personal and the reception staff were very helpful. The breakfast was not a buffet but a la carte and the food was fine but not the delicious variety of some comparable standard hotels. Other than that, everything was first rate.

There might be better hotels in Ubud but I doubt it. If you're looking for peace and pampering after the bustle and crowds in southern Bali then this is probably the place for you. The suites are beautifully fitted out in local hardwoods and ceramics, the views of the lush vegetation are second to none, service is highly professional and the pool is excellent.
My only quibbles would be: (1) the food, which is okay but frankly not commensurate with a hotel in this price range; and (2) the shuttle service into central Ubud, which can be erratic - all the hotels drop guests off at the same place and as they tend to use the same type of transport, it can be difficult to spot your car when you want to return to the Hotel, not least because the Hotel's cars do not to display the Komaneka at Bisma's name (why?).
One tip: if you agree to take a tour of the local villages around Ubud with a driver from the hotel, make sure you know what you want to do beforehand. Don't be browbeaten into following the driver's suggestions as they may have a different agenda (and tastes) to yours. Ours just wanted to get us into specific shops, possibly because he got commission from them. Further he chose the tackiest paddy field view imaginable - unless you like tourist tat and crowds, avoid the village of Ceking even though it's quite close.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms immediately overlooking the main swimming pool if you are sensitive to noise during the...

After staying in many hotels in Ubud,
I personally think that this hotel is the best in many ways.

The location is in the centre of Ubud.
The view is a combination of rice terrace, jungle and river view.
The artworks are superb.
Staff are so friendly and helpful.

Thanks to Dek Sri, our new friend that help us getting everything we needs.
Perfect Double Macchiato, Nice juices and options of combo breakfast.

Will be back here soon...

Room Tip: Ask for the Fourth Floor...

Although the resort is near the center of Ubud, it is hidden and tucked away from the hustle and bustle. The scenery from our balcony was breathtaking, overlooking a private rice terrace. We were pleasantly surprised by the rose petals and plumeria that were arranged on the beds, as well as the beautifully scented wash towels that were offered when we arrived. If you are looking for serenity and some rest and relaxation, this is the place to go. We enjoyed the pool area, listening to the sounds of the flowing creek below and the surrounding birds nearby.

Breakfast was delicious, and the service was great.

We had a lovely experience!

This was our second stay at a Komaneka resort. They do it so well! The location of Bisma is excellent. I preferred it Tangayuda. We stayed in a Pool Villa overlooking the valley and the setting was magical. The staff are extremely helpful and the shuttle bus in and out of Ubud is such a great service. The only thing I would say in the negative it the food could be improved slightly for a hotel of this quality. It isn't terrible but it isn't superb. Luckily all that Ubud has to offer isn't far away so you can dine out most meals.
