“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012 via mobile

We stayed at the hotel for 1 week and it was the best hotel ever. The staff were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them, they even drove to the town to get some bubble wrap for us and then wrap the presents. On the last night we fell in love with the mash at dinner so they did it for breakfast for us the next day. The hotel was beautiful and backed into the jungle and rice fields. The spa was amazing and had waterfalls in the background. The room was lovely, with a big bath, shower and the bed was really comfortable. The room was cleaned twice a day and in the evening clean they even put a bottle of water by your bed and lit candles. Everything the hotel did was really thoughtful and they said welcome home when you walked through the door. The food and drink is a 5 star standard and a reasonable price. We have not got a bad word to say about the hotel or there staff and would love to go back. Thank you for an amazing stay

We spent the final week of our honeymoon here in a private pool villa .... WOW!! They have thought of EVERYTHING - sunhats, insect repellent, indoor and outdoor rainforest showers, huge range of toiletries, apple TV with music playlists, ice buckets for your drinks, his and hers bathroom vanities, luxurious cotton nightgowns, unlimited and delicious freshly baked cookies ... the list goes on. The most comfortable bed I have EVER slept in. Each morning our room was cleaned to the same state it was when we first arrived, and each evening there was a superb turn down service. The villa was huge and you don't need to leave the villa for anything. But if you want to, its only a short stroll (or use the free shuttle service) to shopping, restaurants and the monkey forest. On the first day, I told one of the staff memebers I was wheat intolerant and from then on in I was catered to brilliantly. The chef made me delicious gluten free black rice bread, and gluten free banana dumplings for breakfast every morning. They found out my husband loves coconut, and each morning they had one waiting for him with a straw to start his breakfast! Saving the best 'till last: It was the staff that truly made our stay unforgettable. They treat you like part of the family and really cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable, comfortable and completely luxurious. We are so thrilled with our decision to stay at the Komaneka, we can't wait to go back again!!

This place is a real gem - the vista is so so beautiful and to feel like you are in the jungle yet to be only 5 minutes from town, incredible.
The rooms are stunning…and huge! Every detail immaculate.
The staff are genuinely friendly, the food the best we had in Ubud and the pool blissful.
The spa is so beautiful with open air villas next to the river ….. What else can I say we really did have a truly wonderful honeymoon stay here!! we just wish it had been longer!

Traveller tips:

- Get a lift out to Gunung Kawi - its an 11th century temple cut into the rock face, a real experience…. be warned though its 300 steps down ( and then up)!
- See a dance performance in the Ubud Palace
- Visit the Water Palace for stunning photos
- when visiting the market the better deals can be found inside on the top floors..

Room Tip: ask for the top floors for a bigger view

I honestly can't remember how we found out about Komaneka at Bisma but wow, I'm so glad we did! We stayed here for a few brief days on a 3+ week vaca in Bali + Thailand and can say, hands down, this is the BEST hotel we have been to. You walk in and immediatly are relaxed. Check-in is in the open-air and the receptionist greets you with the most decious juice ever. Take a few steps and you have a breathtaking view of the forest and a rice terrace, right beside the pool you are looking over. Next, our room. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!! I could gladly live in this room as my residence and be super-happy and it was the cheapest room available. The living room is just enough and a curtain is there to separate the bedroom. The bathroom was built for a king with a huge glass shower and separate large soaking tub (relaxing!). The patio was outfitted with a table, 2 chairs and 2 lounge chairs. Most impressively, the rooms overlook the same gorgeous forest and rice terrace with a man-made fountain below to help increase the relaxing tone. So, accomodations were incredible to say the least. On to the pool: just as impressive and beautiful. We only spent a short 20 minutes there but did so just b/c we didn't want to miss out. Breakfast -- super-delicious with any choice of juice you would like and then a 3-course breakfast with menus to choose from including American, Balinese and Indoniesian. We LOVED everything we had, especially the juice and were stuffed with no need for lunch. Service at breakfast was the best we had anywhere. The hotel is a VERY SHORT walk to Monkey Forest if you take a little backroad (highly recommend) through some neighboring properties. It's about 10 minutes to Monkey Forest (also highly recommend). The hotel runs a shuttle into town on a schedule and the driver was always super-happy. Cabs back to the hotel are cheap: about $3USD.

I truly WISH we could have stayed LONGER! And Komaneka, if you're reading this, could I PLEASE know what was in the Welcome Drink? Carrot juice and what else? xoxoxoxo from Kansas City, USA.

We were upgraded from the komenaka monkey forest as it was our anniversary
From the moment we stepped foot into the hotel we were treated like royalty. Suites are spacious and have great movies to watch late at night. Beautiful pool, great food menus. Most importantly the staff were soooo lovely. If you walk to town it's about 15 mins.. Doable even in the heat. Shuttles available every hour of your lazy thou. For 5 star treatment and quality this is the place to stay

We were originally meant to be staying at the other Komaneka for our honeymoon, but because there was construction work next to our villa they upgraded us to Bisma.

It was absolutely perfect in every way, we had a villa with a pool which was absolutely beautiful. The food in the restaurant was delicious, we could order breakfast or dinner to our villa which was great, or eat at the restaurant. The cocktails were also fantatsic, I would recommend having them in the hotel lobby as they have a traditional band playing there in the evening. The view from the hotel lobby and the restaurant is gorgeous, overlooking the swimming pool and the forest.

The service and the staff are fantastic, there was a free shuttle bus into town. As part of our package we had a dinner cooked for us in our villa with a personal chef, the food was amazing and the evening was perfect. It was definitely a highlight of our trip. We also hada couples massage in the spa which was in a beautiful spot overlooking the river and was very good.

I really couldn't recommend this place more highly. If you are in Ubud, it is the place to go.

We were absolutely blown away by this hotel and were genuinely sad to leave. The location is just fantastic - only 5 minutes outside Ubud and yet you felt like you were immersed in the middle of the jungle, a million miles from the rest of the world. Absolute luxury and a couple looking for a romantic holiday couldn't ask for anything more. We had a private, two storey villa with infinity pool overlooking the jungle and it was without doubt the best place we have ever stayed.

Staff here are great and the drivers in particular were a real delight. So friendly and professional. We would recommend booking one of the hotel's private chauffeured cars for a day trip. It's more expensive than booking with an agent in town but the drivers are so knowledgeable and professional and the cars are really comfortable and well fitted out (this is an important factor to consider when you'll be spending the whole day on Balinese roads!). Edi was our driver/ guide and he was just fantastic.

If you stay here, make sure you take 30 minutes or so to walk round the path circling the hotel. There are some beautiful hidden corners on the grounds, particularly down by the river and the hotel's own mini rice paddy!

We hope to be back soon!
