“Very nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014 via mobile

We booked with Pondok Ayu for 2 nights in June and also arranged with them to pick us up at the airport (which is free). We were welcomed by a very friendly Gede (manager of Pondok Ayu) at the airport. On our arrival at Pondok we were welcomed by the other staff and given some orange juice. Rooms are very spacious, nicely decorated, big bathroom and lovely aircon which helps for the Bali heat. Pondok Ayu has lovely facilities, nice swimming pool, can arrange for massages next to the pool etc, they provide free transport up until 10pm to any place in Sanur which was nice cause there's a very busy bypass which we had to cross to get to all the shops or restaurants.

In short, the rooms are lovely, free transport to any place in Sanur and they offered a decent breakfast. Pondok Ayu is a lovely place to stay but is probably a little on the expensive side as there are other B&B and hotels in the area which gives same facilities, if not more for a cheaper price.

This is our third stay at the Pondok Ayu and as always was a highlight of our trip. Gede and all his staff go above and beyond to make your stay as relaxing and trouble free as it possibly can be. From getting some dirty washing sorted to cooking the kids a quick meal after a long day out and about.
The free wifi is greatly appreciated to touch base with family and friends and to maintain contact with the out side world ( or not!! ).
The communal breakfast is a great way to meet fellow travelers and the friendly faces of Made, Putu, Kadek and Wayan to greet you in the morning make you feel part of the family, very relaxed and safe. No problems letting the kids out for an early breakfast while mum and dad have a sleep in. The breakfast is fairly basic but is more than enough noting the Pondok only has 5 rooms a not the resources of a large resort to put on a massive buffet spread as some resorts do. The pancakes are always a hit with the kids! I usually prefer a mixed omelette. Other choices are eggs any way, bacon, juice, toast, spreads (inc veggie mite) and fruit.
The rooms are generous, very clean and the large bath in the on suite is not something you do not get in a lot if hotels.
And to have the beds turned down with a gift on the pillow every night just makes it even more special.
Having a driver to drop you off in Sanur for dinner and pick up after just enhances the trouble free experience of the Pondok.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Pondok Ayu to fellow travelers and hopefully we will be back again very soon.

Friends highly recommended the Pondok Ayu and we joined them on their most recent stay. We were three families in all and there was plenty of areas to either gather for made to order brekky in the morning or retreat to have quiet time in your own space. Peaceful, pretty and family friendly, it has it all. The staff are delightful and welcoming. Transport provided, massages, meals on request and serenity to boot. Do yourself a favour and book

This was our 2nd stay at Pondok Ayu (14th-21st June).

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children (8yo & 11yo). We booked the suite which was very roomy and beds very comfortable.

The staff are lovely and very accommodating. They kept our room very clean and took away our laundry daily. Gede, Made and company made us feel at home and always had a lovely smile.

The pool is nice and is right in the middle of the complex. So you can't avoid a communal atmosphere.

The breakfast was quite limited, though our boys were happy to have banana pancakes every morning (which they found delicious). I would have liked maybe yogurt to be added to the breakfast menu. Also it's good to know that if you want rice or noodles for breakfast, you have to tell staff the day before.

The location may put people off as you have to cross a very busy road to get the beach. Not ideal if you have small children but it's only a cheap taxi ride.

We'd stay here again.

We stayed in the suite with our 3 young children for a week and it was perfect. Very spacious rooms and excellent air conditioning. We spent many days lounging by the pool and it was great to chat to the other guests, many of whom are regular visitors to this superb hotel. The walk to Sanur beach was delightful, but if it was too hot to walk the staff were happy to drop us there at any time. The breakfast pancakes were a highlight for our little people!

Recently had 3 nights at this gorgeous hotel. Late night pickup at airport by Gede, our allocated room had broken aircon so first night got put in the suite, this is awesome, living room, massive bedroom, bathroom, dressing room, bath. Sadly we had to move next day but no biggie, staff helped move us to ground floor deluxe room, which there is nothing wrong with either. The pool is perfect, clean and not too chilly. Met lots of diff couples at breakie (all Aussies) and all had previously stayed at pondok. Driver on hand to do restaurant run at night, we just caught a $2 taxi back but had we had.a phone could have rang for pickup too. Gede very obliging to drop you anywhere in sanur during the day, we only walked into town once, yes bit of negotiation across busy traffic. Very quiet and peaceful location, great price too. Only negative breakie was average but it filled the spot and the girls are lovely. We will return, hopefully to book the whole place out with all our friends!

Room Tip: Suite great, deluxe ground floor would be my next tip but only cos we hate stairs!
