Alit is currently undergoing a huge transformation with the area known as Alit Village all new, modern, extremely clean and very comfortable. The large 22M x 11M pool is sparkling clean (one of 2 pools) and the lawns and gardens immaculate.
Alit is also currently dismantling all thatched buildings, the bungalows and maisonettes and things are a little messy due to the dismantling but noise is kept to a limit.
Once all this is complete, all buildings in the village will have ocean views as the bungalows are not being replaced.
We have been confident enough of Alit to take a 12 months lease on a 2 story, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house in the village and will be going back to spend at least 6 months there in April..

Room Tip: We viewed the one bedroom apartment and the two bedroom house which is stand alone which we preferre...

$50 isn't a huge amount to pay for a room but when you've paid half of that for far superior accommodation in Ubud and Tulamben the least one can expect is a clean room and a decent bed.

Room 44 was dirty and outdated. The room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned properly for years - stains on the annoying drapes over the bed and accumulated dust and grime on every surface. The bed was appalling, wherever you lie on it you end up rolling into the centre, I still have a pain in my back as I'm typing this. Oh, and half the lights didn't work.

Had planned to stay four nights but only stayed one as the response to our complaints were that we should pay another 100,000 rupiah to upgrade. Instead we paid an extra 50,000 and moved to the far superior Buma Villas.

My friend & I stayed here last August for a few nights. The first night I was put into one of the bungalows that hadnt been done up (Facing the big pool). They were a little sad. Next night I was moved over next to my friend & this bungalow was much nicer.(These were facing the beach but a few rows back) Breakfast overlooking the beach was lovely & the small pool next door was clean. This is good budget accommodation very close to beach & shopping. I think we paid about $30/bungalow & for this it is good value. Would I stay here again.?YES!

We will stay again and recommend to friends. it is an older place with lots of character. the new pool is lovely although swam in them all!!!! lovely ground and the proximity to everything is the best.
The staff are friendly and you feel like one of the family. take your own towel if you want them to cover your bum, i bought one at the shops, worth the $10!

We wanted to stay in a bungalow, so we chose a 2 story one with a kitchen. But unfortunately, the house was so old that the bathroom was cracked and the kitchen wasn't clean. Hair was on a bed cover, and AC didn't work well.
But property itself was nice and with a good location. The restaurant carries tons of menu, and the taste was pretty good and the servers were nice. We could see Sanur beach from our window and the restaurant. The pools were nice, too.
I'm sure things must have been much better if we stayed in another type of bungalow or their new hotel room...
