“Just "average" after a few problems fixed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2012

We had booked into Peneeda View but as that was a bit of a walk from the action we searched around. Got a reasonable deal at 550,000rph inc taxes against advertised 650,000rph + taxes. Room had had some work done but bathroom in desperate need of upgrade. First problems - no hot water and air con just worked but struggled. No fridge in room either. All credit to them they did fix the lot. Breakfast was just OK, never ate at restaurant as so many better looking, cheaper ones close by. Gardens and pool area very nice. Staff were really very helpful and friendly almost desperate to have us stay. Good location in Sanur. We did check the villas here but they are located away from main area in a section that seems neglected - I noted poor comments by another reviewer and totally agree.

Room Tip: We have room 130 - nice veranda looking out on to quiet garden area and close to pool.

We made the choice of booking at Laghawa after looking at their and their agents website, what a mistake. We booked a Villa as we were a family, well after the snake incidents and a few rats inside, my wife pulled the plug as the children were frightened and booked us in down the beach at a much better hotel for the same rate. All I can say is all the other reviews were entirely truthful, e.g. snakes, dirty rooms etc. etc and Reception forget it. However the only positives were the gardens, we also met that elderly Australian or New Zealander (not sure) who lives there and creates and upkeeps the gardens. the pool is also very nice too. Having said that so are other pools and gardens at hotels in Sanur. Unfortunately they are charging 5 star prices for a two star hotel. Wish we had gone to your website first. Another minus the cremation grounds are in front and depending on the wind phew..

Room Tip: Deluxe maybe away from Restaurant and band noise

After having been asked ridiculous prices per night at other Sanur hotels, we ended up at Laghawa. We had previously walked through the property and found it quite beautiful. This was before we saw the actual rooms.. At first sight everything was fine, but when we looked closer the family room that we were given was very worn down. Nothing wrong with this but the toilet kept running and running and after having had maintenance look at it twice we asked for another room. Since we were 3 persons, they had a bit of trouble placing us somewhere and ended up putting us in a Villa. Great, we thought, but what could have been a beautiful accomodation turned out to be very old and could have used a cleaning. There was lizard poop on our bedsheets and we had to ask housekeeping to change our sheets before we could finally get some sleep. The curtains also contained the same dirt, I will spare you the details on the kitchen..
With a bit of cleaning and new curtains/kitchen the villa could be awesome though! The pool area is quite lovely, breakfast isn't too bad either (although our favorite remained Retro Cafe across the street).

Only stayed one night. The auto fly sprayer on the wall made it unbearable. Like being camped in a chemical factory. Management were a bit unfriendly. The room was a "deluxe". Given the state of it I am glad we didn't go for the "standard " Maybe we were just unlucky with the room selection.
On the upside it's a good location and they do free Airport transfers.

We have just returned from Bali and Laghawa Beach Inn was our last stop. We booked on the internet for a family room and ended up with a 2 bedroom villa in its own walled garden. Each room had it's own ensuite. One room had a king size bed and the other a double bed.We had our own cooking facilities.
There is a beautiful park like garden which is very inviting and the project of a friendly Aussie who has in a private residence there for some years.
The swimming pool & beach are close by.
Some of the light bulbs had blown but a phone call to reception got a prompt response.
The room was a little musty and obviously not used for a while, however the room had been prepared and airconditioning switched on before we arrived.
The included breakfast was ok choice of American, Indonesian or Continental.
The garden bathrooms were clean and the hot water good. Someone has gone to the trouble of put up mosquito netting there but this has not been maintained.

Room Tip: Villa D was good.

This is my seventh visit to Laghawa
I was met at the airport as usual
There are more opulent places to stay but for value for money you can't beat it----rooms are spacious,& clean, secluded, direct access to the beach with a quaint beach bar & restaurant & is right in the middle of Sanur.
If you are intending to stay longer than a week bargain hard----go for 50% reduction on their original price----you may be pleasantly surprised at what they will agree to.
The grounds are typically Balinese---lush with ornate stone & wood carvings.
To me the quiet relaxation down by the beach with sunbeds & towels readily available is the highlight. The restaurant down by the beach is available for lunch only but is a MUST.
Make sure that Ketut is the chef. She is very good. The table & chairs underneath the expansive trees overlooking the lagoon provide serene surroundings

We moved here from the Swastika (see review Thanks but...) and it's like chalk and cheese.
Ronald (Ronalds InternetCafe) helped but I think that if you just have the bottle to barter you can get a good bargain anyway. Also if you can book on the intenet you'll get a better rate. We booked from Ronalds cafe 2 minutes before we presented ourselves at the hotel and saved a lot of money. We ended up paying £25 per night bb.
This hotel entrance is on the main Sanur street as is the restaurant but the rooms are all at the back so no street noise. The reception is small next to a large sitting area behind the restaurant with a 50's scooter and bicycle in it!
We were given a choice of rooms and picked no 108 as my partner liked the long walk down the corridor to the shower! Walk in with half partition. Good pressure, lots of hot but a smell of drains occasionally mostly when you use the hot. The garden layout is typical with paths winding about with shrubs etc. We asked for more coathangers( only 2 provided) and also extra pillows and a flask of hot water all of which were provided speedily with good grace.
The pool is fabulous and when we were there we had it to ourselves and you could walk on down through private gardens to the beach where there's a little beach cafe.. The garden is so wonderful, it's a haven after the busyness of the main street. I loved it, especially as the hotel was really quiet and it was like my own pool!
Meals were taken in the restaurant by the street with live music on some nights. Balinese groups rendering western songs, also by request. They're better than you might think!!
I really enjoyed my stay at the Laghawa, it wasn't the smartest or the cleanest or the best food but it had character and the staff were nice and the food was good and the pool was fabulous and you could walk your own private path down to the beach. If I win the lottery I would stay there in an instant!!
