“Comfortable but in much need of maintenance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Having stayed at the Besakih for a number of years it is time to move on for better value for money. We found that although the rooms are clean, location and pool great with the staff very friendly the maintenance has been lacking and whilst there we viewed other places to see what is on offer and was quiet surprised, hence the writing of this review. we decided that the Tamukami Hotel was cheaper and the bungalow suite absolutely beautiful you still had easy access to the beach via the sands if that is where you wish to be. The Sindhu beach markets are even closer and don't forget to visit Jeny (shop 29) for your fixed price no hassle shopping. Besakih restaurnt food was much to be desired but there are so many great eats out there like Ribs, Mona Lisa, Alise's for superb food at great prices.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the front as the laser bar music is very loud

We stayed here during Nyepi, mid March. This hotel is really beautiful, with lovely tropical gardens, and in the right location. It's right on the beach and very close to restaurants, Hardy's Shopping Centre, laundries, Mini Marts etc. The Besakih gardens kept my young toddler and preschooler amused with their scattered fish ponds, turtles, lizards, statues and the resident cat and dog. The pool is great, very clean, and has a separate area for the young kids. Plenty of sunbeds, whether it be poolside or on the beach. Also the pool is in a sunny location, as the sun swings round there are nice shaded areas too, so it's great for anyone. We stayed in a superior stand alone bungalow, which was spacious and very clean. Even though we were right next to the reception and driveway, it was very quiet inside the room. The friendly cleaning staff did a great job, our rooms cleaned everyday, and tea/coffee replenished. Pool towels were supplied, and if we needed them swapped over for clean ones, all we needed to do was ask. Only negative was the restaurant staff, who were snobby and their table service was zero. We found this very strange as all the other staff were very nice and welcoming. The breakfast was great, fresh and hot. They had nasi goreng, mie goreng, toast, pancakes, fruit, juice, and cakes. No water is supplied, but shops are close by.

Room Tip: Superior Stand Alone Bungalows or Standard Upstairs Rooms towards the back of the hotel. All rooms...

We were nervous after negative earlier reviews, but have come home full of praise for this beautiful old lady. The gardens are lush and tropical and the rooms clean and fully serviced every day.
The staff are very sweet and friendly and offer five star service.
The pools are awesome and we spent a lot of time lazing and indulging in ice cold Bintangs. We met lots of awesome people around the pool, of all different nationalities.
Lots of shopping and restaurants close by, and the massage/nail ladies on the beach were lovely.
We're going back later this year and Besakih is our destination.

Room Tip: We stayed in stand alone bungalow, which was quieter and a bit more private.

Stayed the best part of two weeks in January. Not the flashiest hotel but clean. Good size rooms and very friendly and accommodating staff. Ideally located on the beach front, just laze in the pool and watch the world go buy. Restaurants galore in easy walking distance.

Stay at this property often. Yes it's a bit old but clean staff can't do enough for you. Breakfast is adequate and the pool on the beach is just awesome. Location
Location, location, location for ease of resturant access right in the middle. Air con nice and cool if there's a problem. Matinence will fix it. ASAP. If your looking for relaxation. Stay here no. Pretentiousness at this place and its family friendly

.

Room Tip: Try for room 272 or 273. Both upstairs. In the standard room but has a balcony

The Besakih may not be a 5 star hotel but there's something about it that is very welcoming and makes you feel right at home. This was our third stay and we have already booked our next visit. Lots of people return to The Besakih every year because they enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and I can understand why. It's not luxurious but the bungalows are very comfortable, the gardens are lovely and the position is excellent. There are lots of shopping and food options on the beach path for during the day and very good restaurants and more shopping on the main street at night. Hardy's supermarket is not far away and there are plenty of places to have a massage too. If you don't want to spend a fortune but want to have a nice relaxing holiday, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: The bungalows are much nicer than the standard rooms and very good value.

Stayed in a deluxe room and was impressed with the size and cleanliness of the rooms. The position on the beach with the infinity pool is superb and well laid out. No safes in standard rooms so you have to use the front desk.
Very close to a number of quality restaurants on the beach and on the main road for variety.
Breakfasts are very basic with not a great deal of variety on offer. You order eggs from the staff who will bring them to your table.
The Besakih Beach Resort is great value for money considering the position and pool surrounds.
Would stay again.
