“Excellent Hotel Suites for individual and families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2012

Actually our stay is yet to end, its the 3rd day in the hotel and I'm already planning my next trip here. My family has booked this hotel for 5 nights, I wasn't expecting much, as had read mixed reactions posted on website (tripadvisor) however we were pleasantly surprised after checking in, everything looked nice, spacious rooms with a balcony and very neat toilets. Though the very first night the AC of our master bedroom didnt work thus we couldn't sleep properly. The staff offered us a different room but it was quite late, we had already unpacked and kids were asleep so we decided to stay put but it was repaired the next day. When asked for compensation they immediately offered facilities in lieu which was acceptable to us. I'm going to recommend this hotel to all my friends and family members. The entire hotel is so service oriented and friendly that make us feel like a celebrity. Our kids are very happy that they do not want to venture out to see places either they want to stay in the room or go to the pool. The hotel is spacious and it feels secured better than home as people are always around to pamper you. They even extended our check out once I'd told them that my flight departs at 10pm. The good thing is the kitchen is quite handy equipped with oven, toaster, stove, fridge, crockery, cutlery even there is a water boiler to boil water for tea and coffer provided free in the room along with mineral water a 10 ltr tank with dispenser. We couldn't ask for more. Many thanks Sanur Paradise Plaza Suites for making our stay very comfortable and memorable.

My husband and I had stayed at Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel last year, so this year when going back to Bali with our 2 1/2 year old son and parents we decided to stay at the suites.
We stayed in a 3 bedroom 2 storey loft suite.
The Suite is amazing! So large, each room with its own bathroom. Fully self contained.
The resort itself is lovely! The staff (from housekeeping, to wait staff to drivers) were all so helpful.
I recommend the self cook BBQ night - the restaurant arranges your meat and salads and the BBQ is wheeled to the pool area and you cook yourself. The spead of meat and salads was AMAZING!
Also the Dim Sum at the hotel - all you can eat, is never a disappointment!
Our son (and the nannas!) enjoyed the water slide (camp splash), was great to have that there, not having to leave the resort for extra entertainment!

We will definitely stay here again on our family holiday next year!
Can't wait to see it when the renevations to the lobby are complete!

My family stayed here for 5 nights, 2 adults 3 children. We all loved it! We stayed in a 3 bedroom suite on the 4th floor, balcony over looking the pool, huge bedrooms, huge living area 2 bathrooms, aircon in all bedrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen.
The kids club is fantastic (camp splash) we were a bit nervous about it at first as our 4 year old cant swim without her floaties! But the staff there were brilliant! After the first time we were more than confident leaving the kids there, they had a great time! So much for them to do, the kids didn't want to leave!
The gardens and pool area are beautiful, we spent a lot of time lazing by the pool, there was always someone to take orders for drinks or food ( don't miss happy hour!)
We ate at the restaurant most days, free breakfast was the best! So much food to choose from, the menu for lunch/ dinner has a lot of choice so always something for everyone.
The free shuttle bus we used a lot! They come around ever hour, if you miss it there is always a driver waiting to take you wherever you need to go, which is useful for trips out of sanur.
We got back home on Monday and can't wait to go back, will defiantly stay here again.
.

Room Tip: Go for the 4th floor!

When we arrived we were initially disappointed that the place was under renovation. The welcome at the lobby was lovely with accommodating staff. The walk to the room from the lobby gave me second thoughts about whether we would actually enjoy this stay on our second week in Bali.

Once in the room, we were more than pleased! It is spacious with desks in the lounge and both bedrooms so our 'mess' could be contained there instead of on the dining which what usually happens. The dining is separate to the kitchen and lounge and has a gallon of water (hot and cold) supplied for the week. Kitchen is adequately equipped so if you run late for the restaurants in town, you can make a quick meal (e.g. tonight we had cous cous and some instant stuff I had brought but if I had needed to cook, the kitchen would have been equipped for that). Fridge is large enough to cater for the needs of a family (2 As and 2 Ks). Only thing is the hand towel is rather grotty but our other hotel didn't provide that or any utensils in their amply provided kitchen cupboards. There is also a toaster and microwave oven. Only fuss is the tiny ants so don't leave food out.

We ditched the ride into town for the pool and slide as the boys needed that, and happy hour cocktails. We are about to embark on their family activities and if we are not careful, may not have time to tour around Bali!! The activities include a trip to the rice padi, markets (morning and night), language classes, snorkelling lesson, etc etc. We are a bit blown away and are worried that they may disappoint but will write once we've been through the stay! Anyway, to clarify, there are activities for the kids and also activities that the whole family can participate in, all free!!!! And, it even included a photo session (you provide your own camera and they provide the costumes - novel!).

The plug in our bathroom was broken but they came within 5 minutes to fix it!!! It was service with a smile though it was 9 pm.

I shall review again once we are back home! So far our first impressions are 'Wish we had stayed here last week too!'

Room Tip: Ours is near the main road but can't hear a thing inside. You may want to choose one closer to t...

Note that there are two Sanur Paradise Plazas, the Hotel in north and the Suites 3 km south from the hotel. The family rooms are in the Suites site, where we stayed in February 2012 with two adults and 3 children.

Sanur Paradise Plaza Suites is absolutely in the midle of nowhere. Or actually you can see the main restaurant- & shopping street from the hallway balcony couple of hundred meters away in east, but the hotel has a 3m tall wall on that side with no entrance. So the only entrance is to the busy highway on the west side, where there are only empty plots, some construction sites and shops selling cars. The walking distance to the shopping- & restaurant area is about 2 km and to the hotel beach about 3 km. By car it's even longer since you can't turn right on the highway.

Well, the hotel has the so-called shuttle bus. The "bus" is a very old, small pick-up truck with wooden benches on the back. No walls, no proper seats, no seatbelts, not anything. It's a killer! In that busy trafic with big cars driving crazily you are mad if you even think about going to that vehicle! Even in a small crash you will be thrown out of the car and be killed or badly injured. And even if you don't mind about the safety, the timetables for the shuttle are impossible. It run's three times between 10am to 12 am and then again 5 times between 2 pm and 6 pm. So no shuttle at lunch- or dinner time.

The staff - OMG! Never seen hotel staff so rude and careless! We wanted to change hotel after the first night there. Their only respose was to tell us that they will charge us one extra night if we leave earlier than our reservation ends, no matter what the reason or when we inform them about leaving. They never asked what was wrong and why we weren't satisfied. They even managed to look spiteful telling us that we can't leave without them charging our credit card extra!

And what was wrong besides the location? The room was worn out and aged. The sink in the other bathroom was plugged, the toilet paper holder was broken and the toilet seat lid was loose. There were only a few dishes in the kitchen. No microwave or dishwasher. Only one out of 4 cooking plates in the gas stove was working. The room was full of small ants mosquitos, children were badly beaten from the first night and all the food we had that was placed outside refrigerator was covered by ants. The air conditioner in the master bedroom turned the cooling down by itself every single night we stayed there and we woke up every night sweating and needed to restart the machine before it started to cool again. The air conditioner in the living room was not able to cool the living room, it was working only occasionally and was also very dirty.

One morning the front desk woke us up calling 8:40 am and asked if the housekeeping could clean up the room right away. We were very mad and told them that we were still sleaping. Despite that the housekeeping came behind our door and stayed there chatting very loudly for half an hour. We felt like they were teasing us intentionally.

The pool area is supposed to be open until 9 p.m., but they start to collect the matrasses already after 6 p.m., even when we asked them to leave us some since we were still going to go swimming. Whenever you go to the pool area, you first have to look for the staff to give you the chair matress and towel - they are never there, but sitting and chatting somewhere. There are no umbrellas for the beach chairs. The pool area is very poorly lighted after it becomes dark so it's very difficult to watch the kids. They also turned off even the last lights at 8:45 p.m. so it was totally dark and impossible to swim. The water slide pool on the other side of the hotel building is open until 6 p.m. There are no beach chairs on that side, only some tables and regular chairs, the internet connection doesn't reach that side either. Kids liked the slide, but the chances in the slide are not properly built. Our son hurted his toe nail badly in the slide and was not able to swim for the rest of our vacation which ruined his holiday.

We didn't eat in the hotel since the prices are about triple compared to other places in Sanur. Same thing with the massage prices. If you decide to choose this hotel anyway it's propably worth to know that there are a lot of restaurants in Sanur with delivery service. Fortune Cookie, Warung Blanjong and Art Cafe Warung have a free delivery. Massimo's Italian restaurant and KFC have also their own delivery service. And then there is Hallo restaurant delivery service which delivers from multiple restaurants with a price of 12 000 rupiah (12t rp) per delivery. The hotel charged the local calls 500 rp per minute. If you need a taxi, take the official taxi and insist them to use the meter - it's always cheaper than the "cheap fixed prices" they try to offer you. The taxi drivers try to cheat you anyway - don't believe their stories about minimum prices of 15t or 25t, but pay only the amount in the meter (5000 rp minimum). Try also to have enough small notes for exact change because the drivers never seem to have change for your bigger note...

The hotel was almost empty in the end of February which propably also tells about it's quality. The Mercure resort was fylly booked at the same time and also many other hotels seemed to have much more clients. We saw about 5 other parties staying in the hotel at the time of our visit and the pool area was almost always empty.

We came here in 2004 with our two kids and had a lovely time, so decided to stay here again in 2012 in a 2 br apartment. The price is good and the apartment as we remembered it - spacious, good air con, kitchen if you needed it and well appointed.

We could see that it was now a bit frayed around the edges and needed renovation, but that was occuring in much of the suites including the lobby. For younger kids this is a great place with lots of activities. If you want to be close to the beach or the action, this is not the place for you but it is only a Rp 25,000 cab ride ($2.50AUD) with that being the minimum price of the cabs. We found that with its shuttle bus and cheap cabs this was a great alternative, as we found it hard to find a place that has apartments and not just rooms for us and nearly adult children for a reasonable price.

The suites overcharge for food and beverages but this is our expectation with any resort type hotel. A trip to the restaurant strip in Sanur or Hardy's for supplies easily overcomes this.

Attentive staff (mostly) and a great pool and beautiful surrounds makes this a great place to stay. When at the pool away from the hussle and bussle you feel like you could be anywhere. When this place is fully renovated, it will be back to its best, but is still good now for the price.
