“Our Bumi Ayu Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

We would like to thank Bumi Ayu staff for a wonderful stay 10 night stay there, we most certainly will visit again, rooms were serviced daily and staff always polite and adhered to every need when asked... Loved the natural gardens...... people that have previously complained on here about gardens not been done have no respect for these natural beauties... we all were made to feel most welcome..
Thank you once again
Shirley & David Henderson

I only spent one night, because I had a plane to catch, and I got there after dark, but I had a couple of hours in the morning to enjoy the gardens and the pool. Nice bungalows with lots of nice greenery around, and a lovely pool. The room was large, clean and pleasant, and the bathroom was ridiculously large. What is anyone supposed to do with all that empty space in a bathroom? The shower wasn't great - hand held. The AC worked well, the fridge kept things cold. The main problem with the room was the motorcycle noise. This lovely, rather luxurious looking hotel has a noisy street running behind the back wall, and from about 5:30 or 6 in the morning, sleep was impossible. I suppose not everyone would notice it, but if you're sensitive to noise, be prepared for an early rising. Breakfast was disappointing - only the continental is free, and that's just fruit and croissant or what they call danish, but is really a somewhat sweet plain roll with no filling. I've had much nicer breakfasts at cheaper hotels.

Room Tip: Given a choice, take an interior bungalow, not one at the back, near the street.

Husband and I were at Bumi Ayu for 8 days ( 18th - 26th June ) in a superior room. The only problem we had was mosquitos , bitten alive. but that was probably from time spent outside rather than in. Room was adequate - had bit of trouble with the toilet , shower could be upgraded abit - sheets were changed every day by delightful staff and room cleaned too.. Pool was fantastic . Very handy to shops, restaurants. Onsite restaurant was ok, but you could get better quality 5 mins down the lane . Having said that we will be back next year to see more of the beautiful island

Thanks Shane and Collette Kerr

Room Tip: Choose the deluxe rooms , seem to be better quality

The place needs serious garden maintenance. I don't think it looks like the "professional pictures" at all. Gardens are very untidy/overgrown. The pool advertises no swimming from 10pm due to treatments, however we saw them treating the pool at 7pm... So you couldn't swim after coming back from town... its all you want to do from that heat. We had to call the staff each morning for coffee mugs as they never left any after servicing the room (each phone extension passes you back to the other so difficult to get service). The walls in our room were all bubbly and peeling. The paint was rotten between the bathroom and the wardrobe. They could run the water feature for a better effect and the poor fish tank in the pool bar area was green. Pity about all this as it could be a fantastic place, being in a convenient location.

Dear Our Respective Guest,

We would like to Thank You for choosing Bumi Ayu Hotel as Your accommodation choice during Your recent stay in Bali.

Further to the Hotel garden and room maintenance, we will act immediately to refresh all.
It is sad that we just lost our loved gardener who in charge of the garden for more than 15th years just a week upon your arrival due to accident. But now we already hired replacement which will make sure the garden will be back again as usual, to maintain it all green and clean.

Again Thank You very much for Your Constructive input and be rest assured we are committed on delivering the best both on service and the quality.

Regards,

Just got back today from a 7 day stay at this hotel. Had mates from SA join us there and stayed in room 38 and 39. The hotel is definitely dated and in major need of some TLC. Our bathroom door was rotted, shower curtain brown and stained and house keeping was basic. We had to call several times to have our cups replaced to make our morning cuppa. The restaurant also lacks character and after the first meal there we opted for the MANY restaurants offering better and more appealing environments and at cheaper prices. We also found the age group being 50-60 plus, so whilst we may not want rip roaring parties every night, we do enjoy something a bit more vibey and social (we are all in our mid 30's) Suppose the free tea and coffee served mid afternoon should have been a clear indication of this.
Staff were friendly, but a lot did not understand English or had very limited understanding.
We also had this woman staying next door to us complaining about our laughter and talking and this was at 2130 at night? (Ruined our experience really, considering we had not seen each other in a year)
Gardens need a bit of work too.
Sadly, won't be back!

Room Tip: we stayed in rooms 38 and 39, right near pool.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your comments on Trip Advisor after your recent visit to The Bumi Ayu Bungalows.

Yes we are located in the heart of Sanur and known for families and the elderly hotel, this is why we are doing our best to minimize the noise. We are restricted our guest swim above 10pm to avoid further complaint, due to the location of the pool where are located closed to the rooms.

I was sorry to read that your experience for the lack of English trainee, we will do our best to make sure that they will be always accompanied by the seniors. They are students who seek experience in our Hotel only for few months. We need to give them a chance to be in touch with real guests to make sure that they will be ready when they are in the work field.

There are lots of rooms for improvement, and your input is well appreciated.

Warm regards,

I think this was my 15th stay at Bumi. Large rooms, beautiful gardens and fabulous staff. Located down a residential gang, close to restaurants, Hardy's (supermarket) and the beach. I cannot recommend it highly enough. As soon as I leave I am planning the next trip. A great place to stay with lots of repeat guests. I love coming back to Bumi!
