“Genuine Bali Hospitality.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

We are currently staying at the regent, saner, and after only 24 hours in the care of the fantastic staff, i can already confidently add a glowing review ! I'm sure there will be tears when its time to leave! we checked in yesterday to a two bedroom pool villa with our three young children . we voiced a minor concern to our butler and straight away he spoke to his manager who very kindly offered to move us in the morning ( the kids were exhausted and our youngest was already asleep) i felt a little bad that the staff would have to clean a whole villa after a family of five had stayed in it only one night but we were reassured that this was absolutely no problem and the staff wished only for us to have the best experience possible. ( a breath of fresh air given some of the less than concerned responses we've had with problems in other hotels)
In the morning as promised a member of staff came after breakfast and escorted us to our new villa and we had really generously been upgraded to a stunning three bedroom villa ( seems quite quiet at the moment at the hotel hence this was possible) we were very touched by this gesture, especially given that the hotel staff had already gone out of their way to help and assist us in any way possible.
We have spent a beautiful day, swimming, enjoying freshly prepared food ( which all three children wolfed down , no mean feat! ) relaxing by our pool and just being generally pampered and waited on hand and foot!
This hotels website really does not do it justice as the lack of pictures may mean some people may be wary to book , but then again those that do are never going to be disappointed as everything so far has exceeded our expectations, from the size of the villa, to its tasteful and stylish decor, ample storage space , attention to every small detail from luxurious bath oils, an abundance of toiletries, wonderful and numerous spaces to chill out and relax and best of all a whole team of genuinely kind and friendly , helpful staff. Nothing, and i mean nothing you ask seems to be any trouble at all!
I have stayed in many " high end" hotels and am quite fussy when it comes to Five star accommodation which often fails to meet expectations so this review really is testament to the wonderful effort of the staff here.
I can't imagine it can get any better, though i have yet to try out the whole array of spa treatments which i suspect will leave me just about comatose as already i feel rested and relaxed after a day of lounging on the day bed reading , a rare treat indeed for a busy mum of three!
Even the kids club is beautifully decked out with cubby house, pirate ship, bridge and ample toys, games , play station, wii and so on, plenty to amuse bored kids while you enjoy a great coffee or cocktail looking out over the beach at the view!
One word "Idyllic" I would have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this as a holiday destination!
the only thing that could make this a better stay is if the kitchen had a toaster,( for when the kids want a late night toast snack & washer/dryer so i didn't have to trail piles of washing home at the end of this fabulous stay!

Room Tip: 3 bedroom pool villas are beautiful!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014 via mobile

We have been to 5 star hotels before in several countries, but this hotel was for us a 5 star plus! Everything was great, the pick up, the easy and relaxed check in, the three bedroom villa with pool was amazing and the butler service perfect. Often the pictures on the internet are better than real life, but at Regent Bali it is the otherway around! The villa as well as the pool is bigger than you would expect. The infinity pool is also a great place to hang out. The breakfast restaurant (also for dining) offers a breakfast European, Asian and Western style. The restaurant at the pool is great for a lunch, but also offers dinner. But what makes it all even better is the friendly and supportive staff of the hotel. All of them were very nice, helpfull and always in for a small talk or checking in if everything was OK. We want to thank them all. The location is alos fantastic. Next to the beach with restaurants, bars and shops all at walking distance. So is there really nothing to complain about?!? The only, only thing is the sea. It is not a great sea to take a swim. The beach looks good and it is great to lay on a sunbed at the beach, but for swimming the pool is way better. Will we come back? Ohhh YESSSS!!!! Already looking forward!

Stayed here 2 nights in the deluxe suite amazing! The space is brilliant and having you own living area separate to the sleeping area. Mini bar is included.

The grounds are amazing. From the infinity pool to the water fountains.

The staff are sooo friendly and can not do enough for you.

The hotel is 9 months old everything is stunning and it's paradise.

Recommend fore families couples and luxury people. Beach front property at it's best!!

I will be back!

DM & MM stayed from the 6/3/14 to 14/3/14

My partner and I had booked an eleven day stay in Sanur Bali. We booked the entire stay at the Puri Santrain Hotel which is apparently a four star hotel! While the hotel was nice they had the beds from hell and after the first night we had to be moved to what they considered a room with a softer bed. It wasn’t! We bared this for another two nights but on the third morning I could hardly walk my back was so bad. (neither of us suffer with back problems normally) when we spoke to the staff about this we were meet with a very blunt and negative response so we informed them that if they could not find us a more conducive bed we would find alternative accommodation. They were not bothered so that’s exactly what did and even though we spoke to them around 11.00 am, they still wanted to try and charge us for an extra day as it has just gone mid day before we checked out.

A piece of heaven found.

We had seen the Regent previously while walking around the area so decided to take a look, as we entered the reception we were meet by a couple of the hotel reception staff and right away the whole attitude was completely different. We explained to them that we were staying at another hotel and the problems we encountered, and they could not understand why the previous hotel had not tried to find a solution to the problem? We asked would it be possible to see the room and they were delighted to do so. The regent is less than a year old and we were there in Bali’s low season (very quiet) we were taken to a room on the second floor, and I think the best word to describe it would be beautiful. Each room has a very large excellently appointed bathroom with top end toiletry products, and large bath, rain shower and separate toilet with built in beady. The bedroom was very large with a king size bed pillows of different firmness, desk with built in plugs that took every type of plug imaginable a very handy array of stationary. An Ipod docking station that was linked to a Bose speaker system. There is also a large flat screen TV in this area. In Addition there is what they call the outside area. This has another large flat screen TV mini bar (all soft drinks are free) draws under the mini bar which have an array of wine glasses and tumblers, filter coffees and teas, kettle, tea pot and cafeteria for the coffee, and other useful items. There is a very long comfortable settee which runs the whole length of the window, which also has an electric screen for the evenings, they also supply mosquito burners which is another nice touch.

Although this hotel was more expensive that the previous you get what you pay for, we would find it hard to find a single fault with the hotel and staff. There is a butler available 24 hours a day anything you need he will sort it for you. The bedding is changed daily as are the towels and they turned down the beds and left small packets of homemade cookies each evening and again checked the towels. We were given a room on the third floor which had beautiful views over the garden area and a lovely see view too. The pool area is magnificent with views that looked out on to the sea and nearby islands. The Pool area was kept spotless and when you arrived in the area they would come up and put the towels on the bed for you, then bring you a glass of cold iced water and a cold towel to wipe your face. The sun beds were excellent very comfortable and more than enough not to have to worry about getting down early to reserve one.

The Food at the hotel was excellent too, breakfast was something to look forward to with more than enough choice for even the most discerning pallet. Coffee and tea was made fresh to order and brought to the table for you, as were any of the items on the breakfast menu.

If we had to give any negative feedback about the hotel it would only be the lack of draw space in the rooms. There is more than enough hanging space but only four small draws which if you are staying for a couple of weeks could leave your clothes getting a bit messy

As an overall rating for this hotel we would give it a 9.9

Room Tip: The Free bikes provided are a great way to explore the entire length of the cycle trail.

I was travelling with husband and 2 kids, aged 8 & 10. We were staying in deluxe ocean suite. Will list down the pros and cons

Pros
The resort is quite well designed in terms of lush landscaping and understated interiors. Very compact layout, so no long walking.
Room layout is good, very spacious, maximise views out, can catch sunrise every morning from your bed. Room consist of a air on and a generous non aircon terrace.
Nice infinity pool with a good length for laps.
Very attentive and friendly staffs
Nicely designed kids club
Spa treatment is one of a kind, very good technique and therapists and reasonably priced compared to many other international chained hotels.
Plenty of deck chairs at the beach front and staffs serve ice water there too.

Cons
The pool and do better by installing some water jets or jacuzzi at its shaded areas at the ends of the lap. Otherwise the areas under the pergolas are fantastic for resting and soaking in the pool.
The kids club is very well equipped with games and toys but most of the discs for the electronic games were not working on the first day we arrived. That made the kids very disappointed. The resort however tried to replace the discs immediately after my feedback, which makes up for it.
The resort is not large, thus they kind of serve a semi buffet breakfast. That kind of makes the variety of food quite limited especially like us who are staying for 5 days 4 nights... The kids find the food choices limited.

Other than the few shortcomings mentioned, the Regent is generally a very pleasant, well run resort suitable for couples here for quiet time together and families too!

Room Tip: Choose the ocean deluxe rooms located on 4th floor, middle block so get frontal view of the sunrise.

The Regent is a beautiful and very tranquil resort. We booked a garden view suite for a short Honeymoon break for 8 nights for our first trip to Bali. Our suite was massive and very clean. We were thrilled with the surprises waiting for us in our room on arrival. All staff were very friendly , remembered us by name and nothing was too much trouble. The pool and gardens are magnificent , and the rooms very clean and spacious.Breakfast was included and very nice. The resort seemed mostly empty of guests.
We used the hotel airport transfer service and were quite annoyed to find we were expected to tip a man that had grabbed one piece of our luggage and did not actually work for the Regent. Even though two hotel staff had greeted us and traveled in the car with us, some random carried the bag while we were escorted off to the car. This random man then insisted on being tipped before he would let my husband shut the car door.

Having stayed in many five star resorts throughout Asia, we were both totally shocked at the prices being charged for meals and drinks throughout the bars and restaurants. Dinner on the first night at the pool bar and grill was over priced and very over rated. Charging 2-3 times more than other fine dining restaurants within walking distance is ridiculous when guests are already paying a premium for accommodation. We would have liked to have spent the majority of our time in the resort but unfortunately even drinking by the pool very expensive.

I loved every minute I was at the Regent. Not only were the rooms, grounds, pool, restaurants lovely down to the last detail, but the service was prompt and thorough. I loved little touches - like the sliding glass doors in my suite controlled the ac - so incredibly convenient. Even when face down getting my amazing 75 minute massage, instead of staring at the floor, I looked at a lovely little zen sand garden. They had thought of everything. I would go back in a heartbeat.
