“50th birthday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

stayed at Santrian Griya for a short stay of only only 4 nights with friends,
the staff at the hotel are great and look after everything we needed
i would recommend this place highly, rooms spacious and well appointed
clean and tidy
they found out it was my wife's birthday and left a desert in our room as well as a fruit platter every day
We stayed in a suite at the last pool , furthest away from main pool bar , very peaceful
nearly like a private pool
will stay again

Stayed in a garden view room for a week in March 2012. The hotel was really well set out with three pools and the rooms set around the pool areas. The room was very clean, bathroom was adequate, a bit on the small side. The restaurants facing the ocean were just lovely. The buffet breakfast was good with a view out to the ocean.
The hotel was central to the shopping main street and was right on the beach.... perfect.
The only disapointment was the spa, it was just a pavillion with a curtain around it in the middle of the hotel grounds, not very private. The service was okay but i have had better massages on the beach, would not recommend.
I would stay at this hotel again, clean, friendly service, and great central location.

My partner and another couple enjoyed 3 nights at the Griya in April. Though a regular visitor to Bali this was my first stay in Sanur and the area has a lot going for it. It is a lot quieter and cleaner than Kuta and Seminyak but still has a good selection of restaurants, bars and shopping...without the hassle. The actual hotel is undergoing an upgrade including the lobby. We were in the unrenovated beach front rooms. The rooms are spacious and OK but the location was perfect with pool, beach, restaurant and day spa all within a 50m radius.....yet still peaceful. The sunrise was spectacular and the beach was crystal clear. The beach front path provided great access to cheap (Rup30,000) massages and the hotel exit accessed the main street cafes and restaurants. Criticisms are minor in the overall experience- the service was not the overly attentive kind, they started packing up the lounge cushions at 4pm and yes the beach front lounges were taken each morning. Breakfast had great croissants but the individual cooking of the eggs slowed thing up and the bacon was scarce. Our one hotel lunch was ok. If you are after relaxation with a bit of activity this is great and I look forward to going back.

Room Tip: Beach front suited me

I stayed with my young daughter for 5 nights in April. We stayed in a garden view room near the beach. It was on the first floor, which has a porch with comfortable seating. We travel a lot and this has been our favorite. When staying at the beach, I look for beach front, close to shopping and dining and easy transportation. This place had it all. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and the location perfect. The rooms were nice and big. The room was very clean and well maintained. My only problem with the room was the bathroom, the color scheme of black marble looks nice, but makes the bathroom dark. There were a couple of weddings while we were there, it was nice being able to see the wedding party. We enjoyed the beach and pool near the beach, which has a swim up bar.
I also hired a driver for the day from the hotel, while the price is higher than on the street, I liked knowing the driver is an employee from the hotel For 8 hours it was about 60USD. A
There is a walkway which will take you to a little market, where there are plenty of souvenirs and clothing. On the way is a Circle K, so you can pick up some snacks for your room.
We loved Griya Santrian, we will be going back, next time for a longer stay!

My Parner and I stayed at the Griya for 10 nights in March, we upgraded to a suite and was amazed by the room on arrival. The room was spacious, clean and had an huge four poster bed which was very comfortable indeed! The bathroom had a walk in shower and separate bath and was also very nice, as was the living area which had a settee and table and flatscreen TV.
The hotel grounds are beautiful with lots of well kept plants, trees and ponds and is a very tranquil and quiet place to relax.
Our room also had a large balcony and this was great to sit out and watch the birds and squirrels going about their business.
Our room was cleaned daily by a man named Ratu who was very friendly and did a great job of ensuring the room was cleaned and fresh towels and bottled water provided as well as tea and coffee.
We ate at the hotel a couple of times and the food was very good although you can go out into the main street and have some fantastic food for less money and we would recommend The Village (Italian Restaurant) Just outside the hotel and a great little Cafe/Restaurant just up the road called The Aladin Cafe which was cheap but with great food!
All in all we had a great holiday and would highly recommend the Griya Santrian Hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms are good but maybe if you want a little more peace and quiet I would suggest being away fr...

Upon arrival at the hotel we were immediately told that we had been 'upgraded' to a better room. Have to say from other reviews we must have had a refurb. The room was lovely and clean with a spacious feel. The hotel its self was not very busy when we visited. There was plenty of room around the pools and the staff were helpful without intruding. We had lunch a couple of times by the pool which was good. A tip for any first time visitor to Bali would be to use a local driver as they are much cheaper. We also used Jegeg bike tours who were excellent.

We have stayed at the Griya a few times but this time will be the last. First night we got rained on in our beds due to leaky roof so we had to pack up and move rooms in the middle of the night - not a good start. We booked an upstairs beachwing room and we got moved to a downstairs room (with a leaking toilet) following day we were moved to an upstairs room at our request. Rooms were averagely clean with stained bed linen. Several times our room was cleaned and no towels hand towels were left .....we were told they would be coming later...they arrived after 8pm after we had to call reception to get them...this happened several times. We went to go swimming and were told they only had one beach towel...at my insisting we were not sharing they gave me a used towel....not happy at all. The staff did not care we were not happy and made no attempt at even an apology for any of these things. Sometimes things go wrong - its what you do about it that counts.....they simply put out thier hand to be paid....nothing more.
