“What a lovely place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

After staying at the Padma for years we decided their room rates now days were ridiculous so decided to look elsewhere.

We liked the idea of being on the beach so looked at Sanur.

We found the Puri Santrian and what a great find!! This hotel is well established with the most amazing gardens full of huge and wonderful trees. The beach is private and what a treat! So clean and so close to bars, restaurants, pools.

One of the things we utterly loved about this hotel is they have SO many sun lounges and spots to curl up, you don't need to do the 4am leap out of bed to reserve a bed near the pool or the beach - there are hundreds of options! There were odd occasions when beds weren't available, but extremely rare.

Room was lovely with only one tiny exception, they have the worst shower heads in the world! You have to run around in the shower to get wet. Small tip Puri Santrian, shower heads aren't expensive.

Rooms were cleaned beautifully every day as is the rest of the hotel.

Food in the restaurant was fabulous too, we didn't have one dud meal. The Mezzanine out the front is a must visit!

We had a 12 year old with us who came down extremely unwell with a viral infection. We can't thank the hotel enough for their care. They went out of their way to accommodate us while we were "stuck" at our room. Nothing was too much trouble.

Super friendly staff, I am more than happy to recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing and lovely holiday. Also very kid friendly.

Room Tip: All the rooms are made more private by the very established gardens, so I don't think there is a...

Our 4th stay here. A 4 star resort, beautiful gardens, great Bali style architecture look and feel, very good pools, lovely staff, great buffet breakfast. No Aussie yob element here there are a lot of Europeans staying on this side of the island. Not a manicured or as 'sanitised' as Nusa Dua so has a real feel of Bali to it. The local village is easy to wander through (although very little footpath) and it is not as busy as Legian or Seminyak.
Definitely will return for another of those relaxing, lie by the pool type holidays.
Great value.

Room Tip: Beach wing is our pick.

4 nuits au Puri
Staff is great, nice (like any Balinese you will say) and attentive
Hotel amenities are very good pool is not too crowded, facing the beach, just not enough matress under the sun at times but just relax and someone will move :)
Rooms are cosy, spacious but bathroom is way too old (no pressure to wash sandy hair and little hot water in evening due to big hotel - 180 rooms) I had to call twice to change the shower head.
Restaurant is really good, didn't expect it since it does Thai Italian and Japanese but honestly very tasty and refined on all 3 kinds of foods!
As for Sanur location next to shopping road and restaurants so good spot.
Last, spa is luxurious (and price too) massage are very good (but not exceptional) pedicure and manicure are terrible but very gentle and nice staff just bad tools and really bad technic: using acetone, nail cutting before emoliation, metal sharpener and bad painting technique and brands with metals... Sorry stick to massage here

We stayed here for two nights, then went on a tour round the island then returned for 4 nights. The hotel is fantastic, at the far end of Sanur beach. If you want to be more in the action, pick a hotel further up the beach.
we were in the club section of the hotel, which places your room round a quiet pool which I'm told no children are allowed to use. the room was big and spacious with a nice sitting area out the front also.
The dining department were not very good. we wanted a romantic dinner on the beach but they couldn't work out when there was availability. they said yes, then turned round a day later and cancelled. this was very disappointing.
the hotel itself was very good and very relaxing, we just felt the staff were a little bit rude and with a can't be bothered attitude.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to post about your recent stay and I am glad to hear that your overall impression of the hotel was favourable. It is most unfortunate that you found our Food & Beverage department to be lacking and that you were unable to enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach. The issue that you raised regarding our level of hospitality that you experienced has been duly noted and will be taken into consideration when we review our service standards. I do hope that we have the opportunity of welcoming you again to Puri Santrian on future travels to the island of Bali.

Kind regards,
The Manager

We stayed at this hotel again in July 2013 and this was our third time staying here. We were once again upgraded to the "Club" and had a beautiful room on the ground floor opposite the pool which is surrounded by beautiful gardens. We cannot fault this hotel, location is great, service is absolutely fantastic with the staff always polite and helpful. Breakfast is always beautiful with a more than adequate choice. Try the dinner menu too, crispy Duck is amazing! We were fortunate this time to also listen to a great Jazz band at the front of the hotel one Tuesday afternoon, think this may be a weekly event and well worth going to for a listen. The only criticism I have is management need to purchase more bikes for hire as riding along the beachfront is a very popular pastime in Sanur. We will definitely return to this hotel.

Room Tip: We love the ground floor opposite the Club Pool area.

My boyfriend and I stayed here as part of a triple centre trip. the other two hotels we'd stayed in were great, this one was such a let down in comparison.

We'll start with the positives, whilst the area was much quieter than the likes of Kuta, if this is what you're looking for then there are lots of nice restaurants on the street. Don't expect anything to be open past 11pm though.

The room we stayed in was in the Deluxe Wing - it was large, had a great TV with selection of channels and a large bathroom. The air con worked well.

There were mosquitoes around due to all of the trees outside of the room but the staff delivered us a bottle of room spray and it seemed to cure the problem so no qualms there.

The spa is of a good standard and the treatments we received here were of a better standard than I have experienced elsewhere in the world. Albeit a bit pricier than neighbouring establishments, even on the 2 for 1 offer.

Now for the cons...
Breakfast was in the traditional Balinese style which means open and without air con. As a result, you can expect to have a nice selection of bugs to complement your croissants and wasps in your maple syrup and pancakes. The water was warm and was in such a small and foul smelling glass that I resorted to buying bottles of water instead. This was not a one off, it was daily. Staff never asked why I was buying water with my breakfast - they didn't seem to care about anything other than signing the bit of paper which meant you'd pay. The breakfast is not a cheap option here but in the end we ate elsewhere. Never have I stayed in a hotel and not eaten the breakfast served, and as my mum works in the travel industry, I have been fortunate enough to stay in a fair few hotels over the years!

On the whole, staff didn't seem attentive. There were a couple around reception and our cleaner who really made the effort though and that was appreciated. We both felt that most of the staff must have been trained to concentrate solely on bills and money as that's all they really seemed to ask you about. A big contrast to the Shangri La's we'd stayed in on the previous legs of our trip who couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome.

Finally, if you're looking for sun, you'll be hard pushed to find it unless you're up at 6am for the 5 loungers that are not in the shade. if you're unfortunate enough to pick on under the trees, take a hard hat - they have mini conker type nuts in them and they hurt when the birds continually drop them on your head... not very relaxing around the pool!

We visited other hotels for food and drink and all seemed lovely - we had just picked badly which was a shame given that it was expensive and more like a 2 or 3 star than a 4 star. I wish we'd read a review like this before coming, maybe we would've picked differently.

Room Tip: The deluxe wing was luxurious but don't expect a good night sleep on the bed!

We definitely think this part of Sanur is better than the other end. We stayed in the Sandrian Club area which was very nice. Positive aspects were that it was a traditional style hotel on a big area with lovely landscaping so you know you are definitely in Bali.Location excellent and the beach in front of the hotel is as good as you will get a Sanur. Easy to walk most places and the boardwalk along the beach makes it easy. Traffic in the Sanur area is nothing like Kuta/Legian so getting around not a problem at all. Our room was excellent, clean and comfortable.
On the negative side the hotel feels a bit disjointed, the pool area set aside for the Club area too small and you couldn't really get a pool bed unless you were quick then it was very crowded. The pools at the front are better.
The food was very ordinary and the service in the restaurant poor. Let the hotel down. Hotel was expensive and it would be worth looking at ones close by such as the Sanur Beach Hotel that we got good reports on whilst we were there.

Room Tip: Club rooms definitely the best but located at the back of the Hotel.
