“Dream Holiday/Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

We looked at many hotels in Bali before settling on the Puri Santrian - after reading so many good things about it. The hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of sanur with bustling market street to the front and beautiful beach to the rear whilst the Santrian Club area of the resort was so quiet and peaceful you could have been miles away from either! We would definitely recommend staying in the Club part of the hotel if you like peace and quiet (no children allowed!). We never had a problem getting a sunbed in the whole 2 weeks around the club pool. We stayed here in March so it was the end of the rainy season. we had the occasional shower which lasted for approx 30 mins and a full day of storms but all the while its still 90% humidity so its not like british rain - Thank god!
The grounds of the resort are kept immaculate - with a team of gardeners working everyday. All the staff were extremely courteous always smiling and greeting us.
We got married during our stay at the resort and all of the preparations were quick and staightforward - no stress to ruin our holiday, 90% was sorted before we arrived via emails between us and the wedding coordinator at the Puri.
If you want to travel around Bali its very easy - we hired a guide who took us around many hotspots on the island for very reasonable prices and we also ate out in different areas of Bali, Jimbaran Bay etc and taxis are very cheap.
Room service was great and lots of wonderful restaurants on the doorstep of the hotel is a bonus!
If you stay here you must also try the Spa - many great deals especially for couples - buy one get one free etc...
All in all a fabulous hotel - we cant wait to return!

We have just returned from a 12 nights stay at the Puri Santrian. We had a wonderful stay here - the hotel is very centrally located in Sanur which, in my opinion, is perfectly placed to access other destinations in Bali (we frequently travelled to Nusa Dua for a wedding and did easy day trips to Kuta, Ubud and Jimbarin) and there is a long strip of lovely restaurants and shops outside the hotel. The hotel itself is immaculate, the grounds are constantly being mantained and they are lush with plants and flowers. The pool areas are lovely - there are two large pools with plenty of beds and shade. Along the beach there is a mixture of sunbeds and cabana style beds which are perfect for lazing on in the evening. The beach itself can be quite narrow at times and the tide does go out very far but I loved that the locals came fishing everynight and you could see all the traditional balinese fishing boats - it gave you a glimpse of the real Bali! There are two floating pavillions which are quite a novelty and make for interesting sunbathing!

We ate a few times at the hotel. We didn't have breakfast included and found paying for the buffet each day to be very expensive (over £20 for two people) so I would recommend getting breakfast included when you book or going outside or along the beach where food is generally much cheaper. There was a good selection of Balinese and Western food for lunch and dinner and the hotel puts on a special Balinese night which included a buffet and Balinese dances which I would recommend as the setting is lovely. Outside the hotel there really are some wonderful places to eat - I would recommend Donalds, Massimo and CharMing.

We stayed in The Beach Wing and whilst the room itself was basic it was absolutely fine and comfortable and we had a massive balcony with views of the pool and beach. The room was cleaned everyday and we were also given free bottled water everyday which was a nice touch.

We took advantage of the happy hour at the Spa and used the 2 for 1 deal. This meant we got a facial and a massage (1 hour each) for £30 which although may be a slightly more expensive than outside, was well worth it for the beautiful location and service. There are also massages available by the pool although we also used the salons outside for bargain treatments!

What absolutely made our stay, not just at the hotel but in Bali generally, was the people. They are always friendly, happy to help and eager to talk.

Outside of Sanur and the hotel, I would recommend a visit to Jimabarin Bay for a seafood dinner and sunset - ask the hotel to ring ahead as most restaurants do free transport. We also went for drinks at Rock Bar which was amazing. For our day trips we used Sila Tours and was very impressed. For around £30 we had a driver all day who took us all over Bali and was full of useful information and provided free bottled water all day.

Bali is a beautiful place with gorgeous sights and people. Ignore the negatives reviews and stay at the Puri Santrian!

We stayed for 3 nights in the Santrian Club rooms. The Hotel has 2 big pools plus the Santrian Club pool for club members which is private and fantastic if you want to be away from the crowd. The Santrian Club pool was just outside our room which is ideal. The room was good and spacious with adequate facilities, and a mosquito net on the 4-poster bed. The grounds are lovely to walk around. But the best part of the Hotel is the lovely setting on beach front. Dinning or having your lunch at the open restaurant by the beach with the wonderful sea breeze was just heavenly, the food was good at the restaurant . The lounge chairs on the beach and at shady areas was ideally placed so you can enjoy the sea breeze while reading, it was so calming and relaxing. The staff was well trained and friendly from reception to F & B staff and the welcome cocktail was so refreshing after a day's travel. Breakfast was good but after 3 mornings , a little variety would be welcomed. You can walk out of the hotel as there are a great no of restaurants and spa places to choose from which is great . One thing though that I found disppointing was that the Hotel did not have fitness center however it offered free morning and evening yoga workout which was extremely good. I certainly willl not hestitate to come back again and stay at the Santrian Club rooms.

Room Tip: The Santrian Club Rooms are fantastic with their own pools and library and terrace .

This is my second stay here, but for a full week this time after a few nights back in January. Room by the Club pool, with very pleasant views, and overall the grounds are spectacular, and the facilities up there with the best. What really surprises me is how much resort you get for such a low price. The value is remarkable! Walk out the front for loads of great eateries (I have reviewed Massimo and Jegeg already), and heaps of little shops and markets willing to offer a bargain. The hotel restaurant out the front (Mezzanine) offers a nice dining option as well with room charge back offered. 3 great pools (one with pool bar!), and a terrific bar overlooking the beach. Staff very friendly and Sanur is perfect for those trying to avoid the bogans of Kuta :)

Room Tip: Club rooms are fantastic for the dedicated pool, but any room provides a great location

Booked the Santrian Club room and was not disappointed. Comfortable, clean, quiet with a kid free pool at the front door. From the moment you enter reception and greeted by the gorgeous staff to sitting having sunset cocktails ....... glorious. My room included the buffet breakfast which was of standard of Bali terms. Great location. There are not as many "Aussie" tourists (mainly German on this side of the island). Would return here in a heartbeat!!!! The only complaint would be the Spa facilities. Not good! Go outside for cheaper and more relaxing massages/etc. I did leave feedback so hopefully improvements have been made. Staff there rude and not a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: For kid free - Worth booking Santrium Club!
