“New villas in the back streets of Sanur, good value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Situated 300m behind Hardies in the back streets of Sanur are the newly built Katala Villas. 6 in total. We found the location to be better than we anticipated as we enjoyed the small walk down the lane past all the locals down to the main drag for restuarants etc. Very dark at the bottom of the lane at night so you may want to take a touch or catch a taxi home. Katala owners have done a good job in designing the layout of the villas as we love the open kitchen and lounge area which front onto the pool and gazebo. There is no TV or Ipod dock. Bedroom was comfortable and the open bathroom was nicely done with a walk in wardrobe with safe in between bedroom and bathroom. I loved the bar set up in the open kitchen which over looked the pool, great for a drink or to have breaky on. The owners need to improve the booking system as deposits are going into a staffs bank account. I deposited $150US plus $25Au to transfer and Yuvi the manager only received $100US. So they have some work to do with there bank or booking system. Also there needs to be an information book in each room to inform guests about the villas and the surrounding attractions. Water was not replaced each morning and there is no mini bar service or extra meals. I was surprised how much the villas have aged or showing signs of poorly chosen materials to build the villas, as all the floors are cracked as well as some wood and parts of the walls. The free Wifi is ok when you are logged on but cuts out every time your phone or laptop shuts down or goes into energy saving mode, it is frustrating. They also need to put phones into each villa so you can communicate with the manager and book restuarants etc. The pool is kept well and is good to swim in, there is a fountain statue that you need to know how to shut off as it is really loud. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. We got to know Jerry and Ketut as they cooked a lovely breakfast in the villa each morning and were always keen to have a laugh. The villas are in a quiet area of Sanur and this makes for a lovely nights sleep. Overall compared to most villas in Sanur which are asking $200- $250 Katala is good value. Thanks for a great 5 nights in Sanur.

I just returned from Bali yesterday and I know immediately I need to pen down some reviews for this amazing villa.
My bf and i was staying in katala Villa for 3 nights. The moment we stepped into the villa, both of us are struck in awe by how beautiful the villa is. Spacious and incredibly well furnished. The big pool in the middle, with kitchen and sofa on the other side. Absolutely impeccable.
We got caught up by the terrible traffic on the way to the villa, so only manage to check in around 5.
The helpful staff assist us to order for room service and after lead us the way to the main street where u find the hardy supermarket and others pubs and restaurants all along the street. Is pretty easy to navigate Ur way back despite is kind of scary of the very dark alley that we have walked back. But is not an issue.
I suggest to rent the bike. Much easier to go around the town. Sanur is peaceful and less touristic compared to the others. Beach is less crowded also.

I will for sure recommend katala villa to anyone if they are looking for a quiet, lovely and chilled stay in sanur.

We were a family of four - 2 adults + 2 teenagers - and were completely happy with our experience at Katala Villas. The villas are the last word in contemporary luxury, each villa comes complete with its own pool, fully equipped kitchen and small courtyard. There are both one and two bedroom villas and Katala supply you with fresh bath & beach towels daily, hairdryer, plus toiletries, including shampoo, body wash etc. They are located a short walk from Hardy's Supermarket and situated in a very quiet laneway, which we actually found to be an advantage. A laundry was a couple of minutes walk up the laneway as was the best (genuine) Balinese massage parlour, OMG. And, OMG, what a massage! Make sure you visit them! But what made our experience at Katala were the staff - friendly, helpful & professional. Our thanks to Yuvi, Ketut, Fagir & Komang - you are the best! Ketut & Fagir made us a stunning breakfast each morning which included a plate of assorted fresh fruit, fruit juice, bottled water, tea or coffee and bacon and eggs (fried, scrambled or omelette) OR your choice of Indonesian breakfast, eg Nasi or Mie Goreng. We were so full each day from breakfast, we didn't need lunch. Daily room service is also provided. We can't recommend Katala highly enough!

Katala Villas are located a short walk from the beach, local resturants, shops and Hardys Supermarket (8-10 mins).

Our Katala experience exceeded my expectations. The villas were asthetically stunning and practical for the relaxation I was seeking. The staff were friendly and they felt like friends and family by the end of our stay and lastly the cost of renting the villa was very reasonable for a couple on a budget.

My husband and myself, just got back home today and we are already planning our next stay at Katala.

This is a very relaxing villa where it's located at a very good area in Sanur. Walking distance to the main streets is not far, but the be prepare that the small road guide to the main road is not well develop, and kind of dark in the night, but after a few trip we get used to it, and found that it's very convenient to have restaurants and a fully equipped Hardy's Mart so that we can have our own small cook in the villas.

The crew of the villas is amazing, where everyone of them is very helpful and friendly.
The villas is very new and with a good kitchen that you can almost cook what ever you want. Perfect for relaxing holiday.

Things to improve: Housekeeping team should try their best to check the villas free from spiders, insects, and Gecko, as most of there visitors are from urban area, and not used to the natural insects that might cause a surprise. : )
(But this is not a major issue, it will be great if this is taken care)

It's recommended for the price and stay, great place to be in Sanur.

Thank you for the team.

Room Tip: All the villas is in good condition as when we visit, it's brand new : )
