Situated 300m behind Hardies in the back streets of Sanur are the newly built Katala Villas. 6 in total. We found the location to be better than we anticipated as we enjoyed the small walk down the lane past all the locals down to the main drag for restuarants etc. Very dark at the bottom of the lane at night so you may want to take a touch or catch a taxi home. Katala owners have done a good job in designing the layout of the villas as we love the open kitchen and lounge area which front onto the pool and gazebo. There is no TV or Ipod dock. Bedroom was comfortable and the open bathroom was nicely done with a walk in wardrobe with safe in between bedroom and bathroom. I loved the bar set up in the open kitchen which over looked the pool, great for a drink or to have breaky on. The owners need to improve the booking system as deposits are going into a staffs bank account. I deposited $150US plus $25Au to transfer and Yuvi the manager only received $100US. So they have some work to do with there bank or booking system. Also there needs to be an information book in each room to inform guests about the villas and the surrounding attractions. Water was not replaced each morning and there is no mini bar service or extra meals. I was surprised how much the villas have aged or showing signs of poorly chosen materials to build the villas, as all the floors are cracked as well as some wood and parts of the walls. The free Wifi is ok when you are logged on but cuts out every time your phone or laptop shuts down or goes into energy saving mode, it is frustrating. They also need to put phones into each villa so you can communicate with the manager and book restuarants etc. The pool is kept well and is good to swim in, there is a fountain statue that you need to know how to shut off as it is really loud. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. We got to know Jerry and Ketut as they cooked a lovely breakfast in the villa each morning and were always keen to have a laugh. The villas are in a quiet area of Sanur and this makes for a lovely nights sleep. Overall compared to most villas in Sanur which are asking $200- $250 Katala is good value. Thanks for a great 5 nights in Sanur.
