We stayed for 10 nights and enjoyed every minute. The hotel is located at the bottom end of the main street that runs for about 3 miles through Sanur. It is therefore very handily placed for the many restaurants and gift shops that line the street.
The hotel itself is stunning. Almost brand new, it has everything you could need for a relaxing stay. It's small (34 rooms), but that is good, as it means you really get to know the staff and they could not be more friendly or eager to please. In fact, returning to the hotel after a busy afternoon walking, cycling or sightseeing is like coming home. Once you enter the hotel the courtyard is a haven of peace and quiet and the staff seemed genuinely pleased to see you. Without exception they were all friendly, happy to chat and keen to ensure you had everything you needed. The staff were all great but I would like to mention Gusti and Anni from the restaurant, who both provided excellent service throughout our stay.
Our room was on the second floor, which is actually the top floor, looking out on the courtyard. It was large, comfortable and very peaceful. The bed was huge with sliding doors separating the bedroom from the shower room. We had breakfast every morning, which apart from the last day was served a la carte. We also ate in the Ares restaurant and the food was excellent. We booked a transfer to and from the airport, which is a must, as the airport is a bit chaotic and there is nothing better after a long journey than to see a smartly dressed man with a board with your name on it. To make the experience complete he also had water and a cold flannel to freshen up with. This attention to detail was to prove a common theme throughout our stay.
We also made use of the hotel's car and driver for two trips. They were both reasonably priced and the driver, Loca-Loca was his name, was great. He spoke really good English, was quite willing to be flexible to meet our needs and provided a good insight into all the places we visited. We made use of the free cycles, but avoid Sanur's rush hour if you want a relaxing ride.
The only negatives and I am really being a bit picky here, were the beach club, which is not great, more of a line of sunbeds set behind numerous fishing boats that are someway from the sea and a lack of draw space to unpack into. We kept most of our clothes in a our suitcases, which is not ideal if you are there for a long stay. That's it really, nothing much to criticise and we would definitely recommend the Sudamala Suites for anyone who is looking for great service, a relaxing environment and a good location from which to explore Sanur and the beautiful island of Bali.
