Owner description: The Sanur Beach Promenade is lined with brightly painted outrigger boats along the water's edge, and good restaurants and cafes opposite. Treat yourself to a massage offered by one of the many masseuses with divans on the sand. If you're there in July, catch the Bali Kite Festival, a colorful international competition.

“Laid back Sanur but not the best beach in bali”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Sanur beach is a vibrant but laid back area with lots of reasonably priced, small cafes lining the path along the beach, which is approximately 5 klms long. The path is quite narrow and even in low season it is used by tourists and locals on scooters & bikes which isn't ideal if you want a leisurely stroll. Low season the beach is quite different than in high season as the beach can be quite littered due to the heavy rains washing rubbish from the streets into the ocean. I have been paddle boarding on a few occasions in January and its obvious how much litter is in the sea.
We return here every year however, as it is a much slower pace than other parts of Bali and the local people are lovely.

“Cruisey Sanur Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

I really enjoyed my time in Sanur. The walking track along the beach is fantastic.....you can go for miles enjoying all the sights along the way stopping at any of the multitude of cafes along the way that are scattered right along the beach. There are shops and market stalls, you can have a massage or just rent a beach lounger and relax.
There are lots of fun water sports to choose from as well .
The beach down there is great for younger children or those who don't like the surf, but is is much cleaner up the southern end with nice white sand and mostly very clean.
The other end is the spot for fast boat pick up for Lombok so not as clean but still nice .
Sanur is a nice change from the busy, noisy beaches at Kuta, Legian and parts of Seminyak......which I still enjoy going to as well !
I just hope that Sanur doesn't change into Kuta and keeps cruisey !

Sanur beach is beautiful .. the water is clear and not to cold and you dont get harrassed so can literally soak up the sun and enjoy reaing your book or lazing or getting some shut eye with minimal distractions .... i love it and would highly recommend it .. also great for kids as not big waves .. but yes not so good for the surfers ...

“Good and not so good stretches”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

There is a 6 km long walkway along this beach. Most beachside resorts have made sure that their stretch of beach is clean and nice, but it is more difficult to find nice stretches where there are no resorts but still can rent your chairs and umbrellas and get your drinks and food. So my advice is to walk along the beach first to pick your spot, unless you are already in a beachside resort

Since their is a reef about 500m in front of the beach there are no waves at all. Combined with almost no inclination makes this beach ideal for safe swimming and kite surfing. The downside is that at low tide the sea withdraws for hundreds of meters leaving almost no water with lots of seaweed and sandbanks. However, this makes it a great exploration with kids taking sticks as to discover crab, starfish, sea worm, etc.

If you had your fair share of tropical beaches, then this beach does not make the cut of 10 best beaches, but it still does nicely for a beach holiday.
