Owner description: The Sanur Beach Promenade is lined with brightly painted outrigger boats along the water's edge, and good restaurants and cafes opposite. Treat yourself to a massage offered by one of the many masseuses with divans on the sand. If you're there in July, catch the Bali Kite Festival, a colorful international competition.

“Sanur beach is still a hidden gem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

Sanur beach is very good for families with young children as no wild surf. However if you do want to surf you can outside the Reef by the Hyatt, boats will take you out at any time. It is also a great place to just totally relax or take a boat trip, snorkel or jet ski. It has a gorgeous paved beach walk from one end of the town to the other. There are lots of great restaurants along the beach and bars. Really enjoyable early morning or late afternoon. Sundays there is a market at the Sands which sells really nice locally made items.
One of my favourite places is Casablanca, Dine, Drink and Dance along the main street of Danau Tamblingan. They have live music every night and a nice crowd. Friday nights is fun there with free flow beer from 6-7pm. Monday nights Bamboo restaurant has a fantastic band and good food and is also one of my favourites.
You can access the beach from a few points or cut through one of the hotels. Sun beds can be rented for the day for 25,000Rp which makes it cheap and enjoyable.
The shopping is quite good with lots of stalls but also reasonably priced shops as well.
All in all it is a very relaxed atmosphere, you don't get hassled like you do in Kuta and it still retains a bit of a village life. Ceremonies can be experienced regularly and Sundays when all the locals come to the beach it is lovely to see.

“Peaceful”

Escape the madness of Kuta. Wonderful beachfront with a seaside walk that goes on forever. Lots of great spots for a meal or drink.

“Good beach but no waves”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Good beach for doing nothing. No waves as there is a reef which we knew. Lots of chairs for rent on the beach. If you like to sunbathe, read, and relax this is great. If you want to be a bit more active you may prefer beaches around Kuta.

“Calm but some trash at surf line”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Family and swimmer friendly with calm water and clean sand. Not crowded the week before the Fall Festival in China. Shady paved path follows the beach into town. Vendors on the path can be very pesky but will back off with enough polite rejections. A few plastic bottles, bags, and pieces of foam rubber mix into the interesting seaweeds and broken shells at the surf line. Not as clean a beach as Phuket and sea is very far from the clarity of Guam or Caribbean islands. MUCH cleaner than Nusa Dua beach which had a string of trash at the surf line.

“Beach with an Indonesian touch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We liked this beach, as it also shows part of the indonsian life, like ceremonies and local families go swimming here too.
