“Fantastic value & location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

Arrived in the dark without accommodation booked in Sanur. Looked at 2 other nearby hotels that were double the price with rooms not as good as here. AC and hot water worked well; fluffy towels and clean room with private verandah.....the satellite TV reception wasn't so good but hey! We're not here to watch tv! Breakfast plentiful, staff friendly and helpful. Close to the action of main road yet only few mins walk to beach. Glad I have found my lil place to stay when I next need to be in Sanur.

We stayed here almost three weeks as our families came to visit us in Bali while we were on a long Southeast Asia trip. The hotel is a bit old and some of the rooms are a bit dated. But overall it was a great stay. We payed 300.000 IRP for a double room and the price included taxes and breakfast. You're also allowed to use the three pools in Swastika hotel which is adjacent to Ramayana. And the pools were great. Breakfast was buffet style and OK with choice of eggs, fresh fruits and toast.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Sanur as I find Sanur generally overpriced. Rooms 5 to 6 overlook a nice garden. Avoid rooms 11 and 12 are small and smell of mildew.

Staff was fantastic. Professional, super friendly and helpful.

Ramayana is the newer front part of the Swastika Guest House complex. We stayed in one of the bungalows with it's own front porch, overlooking a very nice tropical garden. The room was large for a budget hotel and was clean and well maintained. We found the staff very friendly and helpfull. Location is along the main street with restaurants and shops just steps away, with an easy walk to the beach.
A real plus to this stay was that the 3 (yes 3) swimming pools located in the rear are all in nice areas of the extensive garden. One pool is good for kids another for real swimming and one in a very private / intimate area.

Room Tip: There are a few bungalows just beyond the reception area that surround a nice garden.

We stayed at Ramayana in November 2012 and had a triple room for 400,00 rupiah. The room was clean and the shower and aircon were all fine. The bungalows are set in a nice garden area and free wifi is included which had a reasonable speed. The breakfast was in a nice place, just a small buffet breakfast but adequate.I am returning to Sanur and have struggled to find a place at this price which offers the same as Sanur tends to be a little more pricey especially a place that is located as good as this. Therefore I am more than happy to return to Ramayana and recommend it as a budget option in an expensive area!

An older hotel, off the main road,a 5 minute walk to beach.First night had to put up with mosquito spray that they had sprayed the room with before i got there.Told them next days not to spray, much better.Basic clean room with hot water/air con/tv and a great buffet breakfast, you also have the free use of 3 great swimming pools at Swastika Hotel. next door...well worth checking out.

This place was recommended by our dive guide for our one day dive trip to Nusa Penida. He booked the rooms for us for Rp300.000 per room per night. My friend said that this was used to be one of the swastika hotel but then changed to Ramayana Hotel. So they are old hotels but new management. At the day we arrived, the staff at the hotel reception was very unfriendly and was reluctant to serve us. We – mostly girls unloaded big dive gear bags and suitcases from our car, but not a single staff helped us out, although there were 5-6 staff sitting at the kitchen stairs 2 meters from the car, watching us. I asked to the staff at the reception but he did not respond. He was too busy asking my friend for the room payment. My friend said we will pay later when we checked out, and then he asked and kept our original ID cards as insurance. We feel it was a bit unnecessary for Bali standard, especially since he knows the local dive guide who made the bookings for us. After I insisted that he called for a staff to help with the bags he finally called for one, though all bags by then have been dragged by my friends and the car driver to the reception. When the staff took us to our rooms, we were shocked to see that he brought us to the back side of the hotel where there were two rooms side by side (no.15 and 16) inside of what look like a dark garage. The view in front of our rooms was a wall 4-5 meters with small ventilation and 2 bicycles parked. When the staff opened the rooms we could hardly breathe. The old mould odor inside the room was unbearable, seems the room has not been opened for months and being inside a “garage” with no air circulation makes it worse. After we put on the AC for 15 minutes either the smell subsided or we got used to it. We can't tell whether it's night or day when we were inside the room. The pillow case also smells really bad from a bad laundry, the bed sheet and towels were worn out. The bathroom was luckily clean, shower pressure was good and hot water ran well. We saw there were other rooms located at the front part of the hotel building facing a small garden. Hoping they maybe better than our rooms, we asked for a room switch but they said all rooms are full. We asked if we can get other rooms and willing to pay higher price at the next door’s swastika hotel since they are under the same family ownership but the staff said the swastika hotel is operated by different management, so we cannot switch. We thought about moving to another hotel, but with all the gear bags we had and the car rental had left, it was too troublesome to move. So we had to bear with it. Luckily we only stayed for 2 nights here. It’s not worth for anyone on a budget trip to choose this place to save money. Better pay a Rp100.000 more and get a more decent room than here. We have stayed in two other hotels in Sanur with rates of Rp.350.000 and 450.000, but with a much better standard.

Room Tip: If you must stay at this hotel, avoid rooms number 15 and 16. Choose for rooms facing the garden at...

Located in Sanur beach I can say that this hotel is in good price and good location. Normal and standard room, but beautiful swimming pool although it is small. It also located in strategic area, just some minutes walk to the beach and store.

Recommend this hotel for people who likes to travel in "less complaint mode" :)
