“Excellent for good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

This is a great little hotel for a good price, quite location, nice staff, and well worth the cost.
It is older so needs a bit of maintenance done and breakfast is very ordinary but there are great little cafes close by.
The beds are very comfortable and it was lovely and quiet at night.
The pool is well cared for and because it is a small hotel, not a lot of guests at the pool at any one time.
The street vendors are very close with good bargains to be had.
The grounds are well cared for and very nice at night to sit on your balcony and

This hotel is a quiet spot away from the noise of Sanur streets. We had a ground floor room with lovely terrace looking out to the pool. The room was very clean with nice bathroom although the towels were a bit thin and shampoo was not provided. The bed was very comfortable and we had a table and chairs inside as well as on the terrace. The pool is lovely, not cold, with plenty of sun lounges and shade. The included continental breakfast was not great but adequate and you can purchase extra for a cheap price. The staff were very friendly and helpful and met many lovely families and older couples. The meals in the restaurant were very good , hot and tasty. Great location halfway between the beach and the shops.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms facing the pool have a lovely view and upstairs rooms get the breeze.

The hotel looks nice when you enter, but the rooms are really rundown, smell damp and are not clean.
The staff is nice.
Breakfast is terrible. We only got 2 pieces of toast, a cup of coffee and an orange juice. Not even enough for the kids to survive on.
We were happy we only had to stay there 1 night.

Hotel Palm Garden isn't bad at all, not by any means. In fact it is a pleasant place to stay for a few days. However, for the hotel level price they are charging (especially in high season), they really need to up their game in terms of level of service and room quality. If they were charging a bit less, then it would be a great value midrange place, but at this price, there are better options. It certainly does not deserve its name or the review given in a famous guidebook.

The common garden area is very nice indeed. The pool is big enough for the amount of rooms they have, was never overcrowded, and has a nice lounge area and attached bar. The gardens are immaculate and pleasant to stroll through to get to the rooms/pool/bar. The restaurant too is very nice and serves up some nice food, although there are better places to eat for roughly the same price in the restaurants around the corner.

The rooms themselves are adequate. Nothing more, nothing less. They are big and clean enough, but they have certainly seen better days. They really need to keep up with small maintenance issues, the bathroom is only just serviceable, and they have an old fashioned and tiny TV without satellite (all of which are not a problem in a budget place, but become one when you are paying hotel prices).

The much touted 1 minute from the beach is pretty much correct, however the stretch of beach there is not very nice.

The staff are very nice, friendly, pleasant and unobtrusive. However, the advertised services are not always available. For example during my stay no wifi was available, and the computer was broken, which meant no access to the internet. I asked to get some laundry done and was told it would not be possible to get it done today but I could put it in tomorrow and get it back the day after that, hardly acceptable when they offer an 'express' service and charge accordingly (a laundry down the road was much cheaper and more efficient). There were a few other issues, but you get my point. They charge a rate for a level of room and service that simply is not available, and that is not acceptable.

Overall, this is basically a nice place that has fallen prey to the curse of a very famous guide book, once it gets its name in there, the price shoots up and the quality drops. It is such a shame. They need to drop their price or improve standards immediately, or they will be overtaken by the many other options in the area.

The hotel was very nice and quiet. The pool area is very nice and big and relaxing. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, they helped us arrange a day trip. The room was big, the bathroom had shower and tub, very clean. Nice breakfast. Shame the wifi is not unlimited though, thats a bit cheap...

found it to be a wonderful small resort close to beach and lovely restaurants. accommodation was fine, nice room, gardens and swimming pool. staff as usual in bali were beaming, with meals of a good standard. price was very reasonable for a quality little hotel. will be staying there on our next trip.

Small hotel with green and nice garden with pool. Rooms are big and fully equiped with large teracces.

It is just 5 minutes walk from Sanur beach and a restaurant street. The Sanur beach is very good for children since there are no waves.

Breakfast is very simple and may be not enough for men.

The food in the hotel restaurant is rather espensive, therefore, we ate at very cosy place Comilfo. The owners of Comilfo are Belgiums and are always glad to talk to visitors.

The staff was friendly however we felt some difference in attitude to us (Ukrainians) and Germans.
