incredible - one of the most glorious places I have ever stayed - and the staff was unbelievably helpful.

the food at damai was outstanding - easily the best i had in bali. the restaurant charges western prices, so if you are expectating a relative bargain (which you may based on their resonable room rates) you will be suprised.

wifi in the villas was a nice touch. the crackling fire outside the pool every night was delightfully romantic. the infinity pool is a too small for doing laps, but offers incredible vistas and is perfect if you are enjoying one of their incredible cocktails.

again, the best part was the service. one example: we told our butler that we wanted to bring some palm sugar home, and she had her husband buy a kilo from the market and gave it to us, gratis.

the only criticism i have - while they do an excellent job with pest control (which is really hard in the jungles of bali) the stuff they used at night aggravated my allergies. it didnt bother my wife.

This place is seriously good.

Feels more like an elite club (albeit a very friendly, welcoming one) than a hotel. The staff are exceptionally well trained and deliver excellent service, they are personal but unobtrusive and always so friendly.

The rooms are brilliant, we had a deluxe villa. On arrival it was quiet so we checked out the new pool villas in case we wanted to upgrade but actually preferred the one we'd been given. It was much lighter and a lot closer to the restaurant - the most important place at the hotel!!

The food isn't cheap, a 3 course balinese evening meal is 360k IR but it is well worth the cost. Lunch is cheaper. There is also an a la carte menu or you can have a 5 course gourmet meal. The drinks are also very expensive.

To be honest though, unless you're booked in for two weeks and have a strict budget you just don't care because it is some of the best food you will ever eat. Most fruit/veg/herbs look to be grown in the grounds by the ever busy gardeners. All the other ingredients used are top quality. If you are someone who enjoys fine dining this place is an essential stay!

The only downside for us was lovina itself. It is a bit boring - certainly it was in early september. Not that many choices for a good local meal either. Other places in bali (and lombok for that matter) are certainly more lively!

Definately if you are going to Lovina in Bali, stay at this hotel. It is the best in the area by far, and probably the best reason to visit the area.

Wonderful staff, delightful cottage with great outdoor bath and shower, pretty gardens. My only complaint is the price of dinner. While the food is very good, the price was significantly higher than at other good places in Bali or Java.

Just back from 5 days in heaven. Felt like the princess in me finally got the royal treatment she deserved. Stayed in Damai a few years back but only for one night and only tried their really nice old villas. This time we splashed - well, it wasnt that expensive really - on an über-luxurious pool villa: Huge bedroom, huge living room, the sexiest bathroom I have been in ever and a HUGE private pool with a huge pavillion right next by. Antiques everywhere and wonderful furniture and pillows. HEAVEN! I seriously only left the room around sunset to grab a few of the delicious by the main pool. Food was even better than last time, and you can get heavenly in room massages. Go, go, go.
