“Pretty good hotel but for one shortcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Pro's:

- Good location and affordable price - can take cheap taxi to the beach
- Good service - they gave us an extra bed at no cost
- The sole staff was quite accommodating to our requests

Con's:

- Avoid room 105. Although the bathroom is very clean, there were bad smells emanating from the water drainer in the bathroom. It seems there's some blockage in the plumbing that led to this. They let us shower in a different room which did not suffer from this problem, so 105 might be the only room with this problem.

Room Tip: Avoid room 105 - bad smells emanating from bathroom drain.

Ellies Hotel in Nusa Dua This was a very nice little hotel at a reasonable price very well managed. The small pool is a welcome relief from the heat. Generally guests pool side are quite in the late evening so partying wasn’t a problem, at least when we were there and I don’t think the management would tolerate rowdiness. The one minor complaint is that it is not in walking distance to places of interest other than some sketchy eating places. The good news is that taxis are cheap, costing just a couple of dollars to get to the beach area. To see the Uluwatu Temple at the very southern tip of Bali, don’t make our mistake of hiring a half day guide as we were done in a few hours even after he talked us into visiting Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), which is a waste of time other than getting to see a prime example of planning gone terribly wrong. GWK is an attempt to create a tourist attraction from the ground up by making monumental statues dedicated to Vishnu, large concert venues, surrounded by tourist shops. It just doesn’t work. Skip it.

We stayed in March 2013 for 7 days and from start to end we were thoroughly looked after. The room was spacious, simple but good air-con with balcony and fridge and tv. David the owner was friendly and always available at front desk to help with trips and money exchange. In the afternoons his side-kick April took over and she was equally helpful and smiley.
The bathroom did have a leak but this was fixed within 12 hours of reporting it to David which was good service. The option of getting take-away to the hotel was great. David offers paragliding. In total, very very good.

Reading nice reviews about this hotel from tripadvisor so I booked through booking.com.
After I experience myself staying at this hotel, surely I feel the same way with people who ever stay at this hotel.

Once you arrive at this hotel, they will give you a folder with information in it, give time to read it because its give you a lot of information about things you have to try out while you were in Bali.

The room is really clean, neat and spacious. It has 2 beds in 1 room without asking for an extra bed. It has no telephone and clock which is good so that we can stay here without worrying about time that we have spent. It's view also nice and really a tranquil place! Finally I have my good night sleep at Ellie's.

The bathroom also spacious and clean. What I don't like about the bathroom that it's lighting is too dim and the smell from sewer-pipe in the bathroom, but when you open the bathroom door, the smell all gone.

The pool area also nice it has many trees.

Staffs really helpful and friendly, they treat us really nice.

Surely will come back here! We haven't try the paragliding with David because of bad weather during our stay in Bali.

Just 10 rooms at three different levels with attached baths, very clean, breakfast thrown in. Pocket hankerchief sized swimming pool and loungers around. Inside a narrow winding lane. No lift. No intercom, no room service. Skeleton staff. Meals can be ordered in. They are best eaten at the dining area or else the soiled dishes lie around in the corridors and balconies till the next shift of cleaning.

Was in Bali few weeks ago and ended my trip with a short stay at Ellies. It is always nice to come here and just chill out by the pool. The rooms are big sized and stay very cool with good air on. Most good local restaurants will deliver here in the evening, and breakfast is fantastic, I really love the banana crepes and butcher muesli they make up here. Wonderful!
Try a nice avocado or papaya juice for a mid morning treat!

Very close to the airport about 7.00 AUD in bluebird taxi. David and Caroline, Made, April all go out of the way to make it nice for you here. Don't miss the in-house masseuse! Very nice one hour massage about $15.00 AUD with good quality massage oil, upstairs on the roof garden or in the comfort of your room. Just the thing to relax after a great dayout!

Ellies is small, cozy and easy. Enjoy some time here.
