The Bale is an absolute gem. We stayed for eight nights in mid-October and loved the outstanding service, tranquility and luxury offered by this small boutique hotel. The hospitality began with the complimentary airport pick up, complete with fruit, cool towels and water. It continued throughout our stay. A combination of high quality service and genuine warmth was demonstrated by every member of staff with whom we had contact. It flowed from manager Michele, chef Hamish, and the wonderful people on the front desk through to every level of the hotel. We were particularly appreciative of the drivers who ferried us around Nusa Dua, and were always there to pick us up, on time, and often with cool bottles of water. In my opinion, the outstanding feature of this hotel is the service and friendliness offered by the entire staff.
When you enter the Bale you step from a typically busy Balinese road into a calm and tranquil haven. It is as though you enter another world with minimalist and refined architecture which is unified and consistent both inside and out. Our villa was spacious and luxurious, and the large outdoor area with pool, garden and day lounge provided a wonderful, private retreat. Yes, there is a slight issue with mosquitoes, but the staff are ready to help. Also, ask for a mosquito net for your bed.
Although the Bale does not have direct beach frontage, this presents few difficulties for guests. Everything is easily accessible, thanks to the complimentary car and driver service within the Nusa Dua area, which is provided by the hotel. Thus, the Bale Beach Club is only a minute away by car, and the Nusa Dua shopping centre, theatre, art gallery and beach front walking and jogging track is only a further five minutes away by car.
Unlike larger Balinese hotels, the Bale has only one restaurant, but the food at "Faces" is of such high quality that nothing else is needed. We particularly enjoyed our breakfasts, with many delicious options to choose from. We ate in the hotel frequently, and in most instances were a little disappointed when we tried restaurants elsewhere. The one exception was when Hamish organised a special meal for us at a nearby hotel. Thanks again Hamish.
We visited the spa several times. it was wonderful and added a little more luxury to our already luxurious holiday. Thanks to all of the staff at the Bale for making our holiday so special, also thanks again for the birthday cake which magically appeared on my birthday! We shall be back.
