“Convenient and quiet introduction to Bali”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2010

We stayed in two interconnecting Ocean View rooms, overlooking the golf course and ocean. The complex is very large and it felt quite empty (in June). There was no problem getting a lounge by the pool or beach. The food at the various restaurants was ok but pricey- however the buffet breakfast was great with slighty different offerings each morning. Room service was luke warm and not very nice. There is also a wayan next door on the beach that was cheap enough and good value. There are plenty of nearby restaurants at Bali Collection and there is a shuttle bus that runs between the shops and Ayodya. There is also a nearby village Buala (about 5 minute walk) that also has cheap shops and plenty of restaurants - some will pick-up and drop off to your hotel for free. The staff were ALL lovely and very helpful and chatty. There is an award/bonus system for staff who you can nominate in your check-out survey - so we recommend you get the name of those staff you found most helpful. Agree with negative comments on beach- although the sand is swept clean the water was pretty dirty with lots of rubbish floating by. Fantastic gardens and lots of birds. The staff do a great job keeping the place looking great.
We found this a great place to start our Bali vacation, especially with a 9 year old who was at first very overwhelmed by the change in climate, culture, smells.

The hotel is large and traditional. The facility is fine with good pool, badminton court, gym, tennis court...etc. You wont feel bored staying in the hotel... but everything just so-so. The room is traditional style, good in size, but nothing special. Air-con not working sometimes. Spa perfect. Service is so-so. Staff not smiling. breakfast poor and food is poor. 10 minutes walk to some shopping area and so location is okay, but need to take taxi to Kuta area. Overall, the hotel is so-so.

We booked 2 rooms for 4 people for 5 nights. The water in the shower/bathtub would not drain even after maintenance looked at it. The twin bed in the bedroom was damp and we discovered water leaking from the wall behind the nightstand. Hotel said they will wipe it up but we insisted on changing rooms and we did change rooms. The room we were moved to had the same problem as the water would not drain in the shower/bathtub. The aircon was leaking and maintenance had to come 'three' times to fix the problem. Luckily we were checking out. No iron in the room. The spa at the hotel charges for using the steam/jacuzzi its approx $20-30USD for half an hour. Spa services eg massages and facials charge over USD100 per treatment. The tennis courts also charge USD$8 for booking court + $3USD per racket hire and $3 for tennis ball - total approx 17USD for one hour court hire what a joke. No free Wi-fi. The breakfast was the same for the 5 days we stayed. Fruits were watermelon, rockmelon and dehydrated pineapple. The outside of the hotel was nice, lobby and restaurants. Deluxe rooms need renovating and bathrooms are too dated. This is not up to 5 star standard. Will definitely not stay here again. Staff also not equipped with local knowledge to help you. Sorry I stayed here.

We've spent one part (5 nights) of our honeymoon in Ayodya resort. We booked here because the beaches in Nusa Dua are supposed to be the best ones on Bali. We arrived at the hotel in the evening and got a really nice room. We went out to check the surroundings and had a shock as we saw the beach. It was full with all kinds of trash & algae. This kind of ruined our dream of blue water and fine sand. The 2nd day we had a great breakfast, but it was really a hard job to find a table on the terrace. There are not enough tables for such a huge resort, and nobody wanted to sit inside where the air-conditioning runs on maximum. The situation was the same in both restaurants :( The nice surprise was, that one morning, when we were late for breakfast and asked them to give us some fruit and a coffee, they offered us a really nice and rich french breakfast. In other words, the stuff is compensating the weaknesses of the hotel. The hotel bar was too expensive four our taste, 8 Euro for a small bear is a bit too much, especially if you have to drink a few, as there is the only TV where one can watch the world cup :). If you don't mind 5-10 min walk, you can go to the next village, where you will find at least 5 good restaurants (we tested them all).
Don't want to offend, but for me Ayodya doesn’t got what it takes for a romantic honeymoon. It is really big and there are people everywhere, also lots of children and that means noise. Might be also an important information, that the beach does not belong to the hotel, the state is not selling the beaches, so you are on hotel property as long as you are on the grass. This does not mean, they don't try to clean the dirt coming from the see each day, but they can't keep the locals from stressing you with their offers (massage, sarong, shells etc.). Though we noticed this is the same everywhere in Indonesia :(
The style and design of the hotel is really nice, but we just couldn't relax there, couldn't swim (for us a pool with warm water in not enough). We used the time to visit Bali, and moved to Lombok Island after 5 nights

We had done some research before zeroing on Ayodya as honeymoon destination. The entrance to resort is spectacular and the huge reception compliments it. Ayodya is easily one of the best resorts not just in Nusa Dua but also in whole of Bali, major highlight of the resort is the pond at center of resort which has various birds and animals in it. We had a wonderful time watching the birds and 'water monitor' a reptile resembling the crocodile from our balcony and the Waterfall restaurant.

Ayodya has its private beach which is nice but could be better if not for the weeds, but the soothing swimming pool makes it up for the beach. Ayodya has many restaurants, we tried four of them including an evening dinner at Baliense theater and were bowled over by the food and service. The food was not as expensive as few people had mentioned on Trip Advisor, was affordable for a 5 star resort. Only catch was that except for Waterfall all of them closed by well before midnight. The hotel staff are the best have ever come across, always smiling and helpful.

Overall would recommend Ayodya for people who want to cutoff from the noisy city life and relax in heavenly place.

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted with a welcome drink and cold towel, much appreciated, and were quickly and efficiently checked in. As you walk down to your room your eyes are drawn in all directions taking in the beautiful gardens and lakes. (you've already been gobsmacked by the entrance to the hotel!) Much care and attention is obviously lavished on the place as evidenced by gardeners, lakesmen and cleaners at work all the time, (but not so they are in the way, just quietly in the background.) The gardens and lakes are a haven of wildlife, well wildish, as they are well used to people.( Watch out for the little waterfowl crossing the pool bridge several times a day.) The giant lizards are the stars though. I got mildly reprimanded for hand feeding one at breakfast,as he came out of the lake and onto the restaurant wall. "No no Meester, they bite!" All six foot of him!
The Room. The rooms appear to have only one socket, with a multi adaptor fitted already, so charging portable devices, phones, cameras etc is not a problem. Everything else is hard wired. Safes in the room are the standard type, just put in your own code, easy intructions. Beds are huge and comfortable. Many channels on Tv if you want it. As usual avoid the room Mini-bar unless you have a bulging wallet. The air con was fine and worked well. The bathroom loo etc are good and the shower worked well. They fumigate around the room terraces for bugs weekly and we only had one or two small millipedes through the stay. No Roaches!
The restaurants. Breakfast is excellent, you name it, its there (including bacon!) and a choice of two locations, beach end or lakeside. I cant really comment on the others as we would walk down to the Bali collective each evening where there is a multitude of good places to eat and drink (Banyan Corner well reccomended), and considerably cheaper than the hotel. We did have pizza in the sport bar at night which was superb, (though the England results didnt help!) A small beer is about 50,000.I.R. roughly £4, soft drinks similar price. Again, the local bars and eateries are much better priced, (buy cans from the supermarket and bring them back, 16000.I.R.a can)
The Beach. This was the only and biggest letdown! Although large and sandy it was filthy. Around the low to high water marks was strewn with detritus of crisp packets, fastfood containers, plastic coffee cups, old flip flops, to name but a few items! This was all bobbing around in the surf which did not make it at all enticing. They did make some efforts to clean the beach area, but once seen in the surf, we just didnt want to go in. And its not just a local thing. We went to Lembong Island and while it was great to see a wild Dolphin by the boat, he would have bumped into similar rubbish several miles out. Speaking to other people its the same all over so....
The Pool. This was excellent. Its large and though its a big complex it was never too busy or crowded. Its effectively divided into two by a narrowing neck by the bridge. The few children we saw tended to be the other end where there were netball nets and a shallow area. The depth over most of it I think was about1.5 metres which is just right . 9 o'clock was plenty early enough to get a good lounger. The sun is hot from 7.30a.m. and loses its heat about 4.00p.m. and the towels are big and soft!
Generally the hotel is superb and the staff are excellent. Local wages are low so even a small tip is well recieved. Perhaps £100 a month so you see what I mean. Housekeeping was excellent though could be early so put out the Do not Disturb if you want to lay in.
Trips. We did the day safari (many rice fields!) Lembong Island trip (superb) and an Elephant park (brilliant, best one). Seeing Kuta at rush hour to go on the trips is an experience in itself, imagine the london marathon but everyone is on a moped or 125cc bike!
A bit long winded but in conclusion it is a superb Hotel and an excellent holiday except for the beach! I dont think I would like to take young children there as you could soon run up a big bill with soft drinks, ice creams etc.

Just returned from a 10 day stay at this truly amazing hotel. The building and the grounds surrounding it are absolutely beautiful and well worthy of the 5 stars. Bedrooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, as is the whole of the hotel. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and served in either the Waterfall restaurant or the Lagoona restaurant. We had breakfast in both and they were equally good. There are several restaurants in the hotel. We ate at the Lagoona and also the japanese and the quality of the food was excellent. The entire staff have got to be the friendliest people we have ever come across on our travels. They are very gracious and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. They really put a smile on our face every day. Very large pools although we spent our days on the hotel sunbeds which are directly on the beach. Plenty of sunbeds for everyone and beach towels are supplied. We had an amazing holiday and we really do hope we will return some day.
