We stayed at the melia,my wife stayed there over 20 years ago when it was alot less touristy and less expensive. Our journey from the airport was easy and we were treated very well on arrival. The room did smell musty on first opening the door but its 100% humidity what do people expect the de-humidifier soon got rid of it though. The food was expensive but as others have said in other reviews the collection down the road was alot cheaper.Pool was great and if the tide was right so was the sea although it was smell if the tide was out,the beach bar was good especially happy hour 4-6.
All the staff were very polite and helpful,we had a lovely time.

They don't build them like this anymore. The landscaping was impressive and the grounds meticulously maintained. A grand resort property from an era past, now perhaps struggling to rediscover itself with busloads of package tourists, the type who would think nothing of spending an evening in Bali sitting in the lobby bar singing golden oldies with the house band, but I digress.

Our room had a mouldy/damp smell that hung around the air the entire stay, probably due to bad air con maintenance and maybe too much old wood furnishings in really humid conditions. I had read about the smell on Tripadvisor but I guess I was too optimistic that they would have fixed the problem by now. We stayed in a delux room. The bathroom was a little old and the taps were loose.

I also found the pool a little too small for a hotel this size and it was too shallow for swimming.

Despite the negatives, I note the earnest attempt to upgrade and renovate parts of the hotel, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. Overall it is not a bad pick for its value especially for those wanting to spend most of their time in the resort, but probably less suitable for itinerant travellers looking for more discrete environs and a convenient location to explore local sights.

My first time to the Far East and it has left me with a great impression! Check in took quite a while but this was because we arrived early in the morning. We were givin cold towels and a drink while we waited! Our room was 3126- we had twin beds, bathroom and a lovely terrace overlooking gardens.
The staff at the hotel are amazing- they will do anything you ask! They remembered our names and everywhere you go they say Hello to you.
The food at the hotel was really nice- very good quality but was quite pricey compared to eating out. My favourite restaurant was Lotus Asian. The meat in there was so tender and the tables were surrounded by fountains and water features. A starter, main meal and cola each cost about £20 each. Other times we ate out at the Bali Collection which was alot cheaper and about 10mins walk down the road.
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful! Words and photos dont even do it justice. If you are visiting this hotel you will know what I mean when you arrive. Palm trees everywhere with water features. The grass was perfectly manicured as well!
Beach was very nice but the beach sellers were a bit annoying- just have to say No and they will leave you alone. There was sunbeds on the beach with cushions.
I would love to go back to the Melia Bali, its a shame its so far away!

Well, where to start.. Have been to the Melia Bali 11 times by now. Am stationed in Indonesia for work and have quite a few trips to Bali. The first time we ended being booked at Melia Bali, and there we have stayed.

The staff is always very forthcoming, helpful, and you can see they enjoy working for the hotel. The rooms, and we have seen five different types including the largest suites have always been to our satisfaction. Clean, neat, and everything working just fine. I have been to 62 countries all over the world and seen quite a few hotels, and must say this is one of the very few where i really would like to go back to for a vacation. I think that statement says a lot more than anything else. Price/quality ratio must be one of the best in the world.

Ok, you have to state the negatives as well. the food is a bit pricey, and hate when they fog for mosquitoes without telling you but as they know that by know, i am always informed beforehand. This is service at another level.

Will be back again for work in january and looking forward!
