I can not speak more highly of our experience here. This was our second visit to Bali in 18months AND our second stay at this resort - and quite frankly, plan to stay at the Melia Bali every visit from now on. Our usual holiday is 10days (we spend the first three of four nights in a villa in Seminyak to shop, sight-see, party) then (spend the remaining time in Nusa Dua to just relax and unwind) and the Melia Bali is the perfect place for that.
We choose both times to stay in a Level Lagoon Access Suite and could not fault the room nor the privileges that come with that type of room. I can't speak for the other room options the resort offers, but from speaking with other guests, heard that the rooms they occupied were lovely and well equipped. The Level Lagoon Access Suite gives you access to the club private pool (not to mention the lagoon access from your own deck), private beach access, breakfast every morning, free 1hour massage for two in the day spa, free laundry daily, afternoon tea by the private club pool and free cocktails in the Level Lounge from 5pm (I think from memory).
For both holidays, this was the perfect getaway. From the beach, you can walk up and down the paths and wander into other resorts in the area to take a look. I will admit, that some of the other resorts perhaps look more luxurious and modern, but really, they look like resorts you could find anywhere in the world - they have no character. The Melia, I believe is one of, if not the oldest resort in the area - but it has a Balinese flavour to it and I think far more character then any other resort there. The gardens and grounds are just stunning and I lost count of the photos we took - just of the grounds alone.
The staff were incredible and everyone of them went above and beyond to make sure we got the very best service. Within 24hours of arriving, staff remembered who we were and remembered the conversations we had with them the day before. It really became a home away from home. We also learned that many staff who work there have been with the resort since it's early days - great to see that a company places such value on their staff. Happy staff, happy guests I say!
We met several people during our last stay who also share our experience and return to Bali sometimes two of three times a year and always stay at the Melia - some for as long as six-weeks at a time.
Our next trip - about to book for March/April - thinking this time we'll upgrade to a private villa - which I'm told is an amazing experience! We were given the chance to take a peek at two of them and all I can say is - incredible!
If you choose to stay in a Level Lagoon Access Suite - my advice, request a room in building three or even two. Our first trip was in building three, and the most recent building one. The rooms are just the same, but building three is closest to the pool and the beach. Normally it wouldn't not have been an issue, but I broke two toes prior to arriving and found all the additional walking difficult. I'm sure had we asked we could have been moved closer - but didn't really think to at the time.
I will say, our first night during this stay, the air-conditioning wasn't working properly in our room, but one call the following morning had it quickly fixed - with no further issues for the rest of our stay.
All I have to say - counting down until our next holiday.
Thanks Melia for a great holiday!
