“The best chosen hotel to spend our honeymoon.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2011

We decided for this hotel knowing that Sol Melia chain has a very good world wide reputacion and we wanted to have a perfect and assure quality as it was our honeymoon.
Actually we have received much more than we expected.
The hotel service was excelent, all the workers there attended us always with kindness and full patience. We never had to wait long to get any kind of service at the reception desk, which is usually not so at other hotels that we've been to. The food was great, as we mostly eat international meals, we were quite greatful for having there this option as well. Apart from getting know the island, we have spend few days at the hotel pool area, too and were very excited about the animation programm. We liked a lot the pool sports and honestly other clients did, too, as we always found the pool full of people doing several kinds of exercises. We are really happy to have chosen hotel Melia Bali.
Even the resident manager, Alberto Lalinde, was one of the best we have ever met. He found his time to meet us and recommend us the best places on the island to see and when my husband got the belly sickness, Alberto cared for him giving him advices, seeing him and paid lots of attention to my husband.
If we can afford to come again, we definitely will. If I have an oportunity I sure will recommend this hotel to the rest of our family and friends. Even the location has no problem, it is situated few meters from the beach and not far from the main shopping center. We really had there a great time and this was exactly how we wanted to be treated on our honeymoon.

After spending a wonderful week at Legian we were a little apprehensive but also excited about moving to Nusa Dua for our last week in Bali.
We arrived at the Melia Bali at 1.30 which was too early for check in and were asked to return at 2.15, we returned at 3.15 after going to Bali Collection for lunch. We were advised that our room was still unavailable and asked to wait in the lobby, after a 15 minute wait we were escorted to our family room on the fourth floor, we were given no information as to where to go for breakfast etc. The front desk were extremely busy.
On opening the door to our room I was hit with the awful smell of mould and mildew which permeated the room we had been given, there was a humidifier in the corner, but it hadn't been turned on and there was dust on the glass table and bench tops and the fifth bed we required hadn't been put in the room. The smell in the room was unbearabe so we asked reception to move us. After a lengthy discussion with the one Manager who came up to the room and said he couldn't smell anything and then the maintenance manager who was very apologetic and admitted there is an issue with odours in some rooms we were advised after an hour of negotiations that we would be moved to another family room, it just needed to be made up. After waiting nearly two hours we were able to move into our new room, which had a slight odour but was bearable. So after settleing into our room at seven ( very long afternoon), we orderd three bowls of fries for our children who were very hungry that was AUD $17.
.We were disiilusioned about the 4 and half resort we had come to , the way we had been treated and the overall state of the resort, maitneance of the building, furniture and rooms is minimal, the gardens are beautiful and beach maintenace unreal, but Melia Bali needs a huge overhaul in general.
Melia Bali resort is without doubt in a beautiful location,.Nusa Dua is a gated area and feels eerily quiet when you are walking the streets, good quality, great priced food is located outside of the gates of Nusa Dua and most of these places offer free transport to get people out of the resorts.
The breakfast was large and had many choices to please the many nationalities that stay at the resort, but is like a mosh pit at times.
Transport offered by the resort is double what you will pay in a Bluebird taxi.
To me Nusa Dua is like the stepford Bali, very surreal,

Dear bella 11636
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us on tripadvisor.com

Your feedback is very much appreciated in order for us to review our service and facilities. You have allowed us the opportunity to look into the areas where we have not delivered the standards we try so hard to maintain. In this case we need to overlook at our rooms division department (front desk and housekeeping) during their busy and peak period.

We look forward for welcoming you back to our warmth and indigenous hospitality in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact us again directly if we can be at further assistance, by sending us an e-mail to executive.office@meliabali.com

Kind regards,

Myself and 3 other 26 year old babes visited Melia bali as our first stop of our trip for 3 nights. We had to adjacent superior rooms and definitely did not feel the needt to upgrade to a higher standard of room.

We were picked up at the airport by the transfer driver who was very friendly (although a taxi would have been much cheaper and just as easy). We arrived after midnight and were still greated by very friendly and helpful staff. We were overcome by how fancy it was walking into the lobby. There was a little bit of a party vibe going on in the Lobby Bar with some live music which made it feel welcoming.

The breakfast buffet was by far the best on our trip with all of the expected options plus several local dishes. We also ate there on the saturday night which was a grilled seafood buffet. Although this was our most expensive meal of the trip (at ~$25 each) it was amazing and the seafood range was incredibly fresh and yummy. On other nights we took advantage of the 2 for 1 cocktails at the beach bar (delicious and made from quality alcohol not like many others in Bali) and tasted a selection of tappas.

Upon inspecting many of the other resorts during the days and nights we concluded that ours was by far the best and most happening. It was family friendly and not too many smoochy couples.

I didn't feel as though we missed out on anything by going for the lower cost room as the private lagoon pool just wasn't that good. We also decided to leave the resort for beach swimming as the lowtide/reef combo doesn't make for an ideal dip. Many nice beaches were close by and a cheap taxi ride.

We stayed at the Melia Bali Nusa Dua from 23rd June to 2nd July. Despite our reservations after reading some of the other recent reviews on trip advisor, we can honestly say that our concerns were unfounded. Forget about all the other hotels and resorts and stay at the Melia Bali We travelled with our two children aged 7 and 9 and had a brilliant family holiday. We booked a family suite which consisted of two bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a lounge area. This was located in Block 4, and whilst it was further from the lobby and restaurants, it was quite close to the pool and beach areas. Though the rooms lacked a lot of natural light and were slightly dated in furnishing, this was more than made up for by how immaculately clean they were. We asked to view the Lagoon Access Room, and although it is generally brighter and more modern, it wasn't any bigger than the other rooms and appeared to lack privacy. Due to its limited space I believe it is more suited for couples rather than families (if we booked this particular room type we would prefer to have 2 rooms) The staff were always friendly and couldn't do enough for the guests. When we needed assistance with our DVD player, the staff member arrived within 5-10 minutes and apologised for being late! The breakfast buffet was delicious, as was the beach bar dinner buffet and Teppanyaki restaurant. The gardens were impressive and there were always staff working in the gardens and cleaning the public areas of the hotel. It should also be noted that we had no problems getting a deck chair by the pool in a good location, as there was plenty of shade afforded by the vegetation, as well as other guests not getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve a spot. All in all we had a great holiday and will definitely be returning to the Melia Bali.

This was our third stay at the Melia and we loved it as much as our first if not more. The rooms were clean and modern and the bed was so comfortable and big I've never had such a good sleep. The service in the hotel was also great with the staff always greeting you and trying to accommodate your every need. Breakfasts were also delicious, however, a better and healthier cereal (e.g. muesli, bran...etc) and yoghurt selection would have been ideal. The hotels beautifully manicured gardens create an extremely relaxing atmosphere and I felt re-energised and relaxed by the end of my stay. This hotel is great value for money. Many thanks!

Room Tip: Stay in blocks 2 or 3

This was our second stay at Melia Bali Nusa Dua and yet again the Hotel lived up to our every expectation from the Hotel Entry and ever so friendly and attentive staff to our Lagoon Access Suite (1106) fantastic, waking up to the morning sun and stepping out onto your own sun deck and plunging into the pool it does not get better than that, Unless you want to stay snuggled up in the very comfortable bed one of the best we have slept on and the pillows "Wow". House keeping visits twice a day to tidy up and change your towels and ensures everything is in place. We had breakfast included and all we can say is wow what a selection of food to choose from. The manicured gardens are a credit to the gardeners. We had the privilege of a late check out but the hotel also has a great check out lounge where you can leave your luggage, site down and relax with free soft drinks, tea and coffee. To top it off we had the pleasure of meeting Carmen Hernandez "The Level Manager" what a delightful young lady and so willing to assist you in any way to ensure your stay is both pleasurable and memorable. We cannot wait to return to Melia Bali for a third time.

Room Tip: Lagoon Access Room in wing 2 is the way to go. Gr.

My husband and I had saved this hotel for our last 5 nights of romance on our wonderful tour of our Bali honeymoon. We had stayed in some lovely cheaper hotels and although the Melia looks impressive, it had no character and was not a true reflection of Bali. The food cost twice as much as everywhere else, the service was poor and the portions were tiny. They have a 15 minute customer service policy and this was never met. Because its so big it loses any kind of personal touch and breakfast was always a horrid free for all. Five minutes up the road was the Bali collection shopping centre, with much better food at better prices. We were never ever asked at any point if we were enjoying our stay! Tanjungbenoa is not far from Nusa Dua and is more like the real Bali. We had travelled for a while so we were lucky it didn't spoil our honeymoon.

Dear Vic0li,

Warmest greetings from the MELIA BALI Indonesia!

Thank you for your comments on our resort, regret to know that you were not happy to end your honeymoon with us. The hotel is really concern about the Balinese culture and architect, since we believe that this is one of the reasons that will make the different on their holiday.

For example, our villas, are really reflecting the local Balinese house using the local Balinese stones, thatch-roof, tropical garden, and of course with additional plunge pool and air conditioning system in each villa.

Our food and beverage prices, is not as much as many other people thought. We have prepared many different promotions, buffet theme dinners and entertainment in each outlets for the guests to enjoyed, from DAV to happy hours.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again directly if we can be of further assistance, by sending us an e-mail to executive.office@meliabali.com.

Sincerely,

Hotel Management
