“good if you're a party animal, not so if you're not.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

This hotel is located directly across the road from one of the busiest night clubs in bali, and a very short walking distance to other clubs, kuta beach, poppies lane 2 etc etc. directly in the middle of all the hussle and bussle
On first observation room was quiet spacious, however at night it was apparent how dark and oddly designed it was.
room was poorly cleaned and drapes for the bed were pretty suspicious. the taps and shower heads looked like they had never been cleaned and there was some serious build up of green muck (not all that pleasant).
I found it difficult to sit properly on the toilet as a step was placed almost directly in front of it. There were also virtually camouflaged 3 or 4cm steps in the bathroom which resulted in a few sore toes (one directly in the middle and one as you leave)
The location of our particular room in the hotel wasn't too great as we were next to the housekeeping closet (nice and close to the pool though) and were woken up by the housekeepers. Paper thin doors!

On a positive note the staff were very pleasant and the wifi connection was free, strong and minimal disconnections (unlike most Balinese wifi)

Perfect hotel for young travellers who want affordable accommodation in a central location in Kuta. Hotel is spotless and the staff are friendly. There is a pool and cable tv. The food isn't great but you cant' win everything

While travelling round Asia, i decided to book a place to stay in Bali for my girlfriends birthday so we booked here via booking.com.
First- What they put on booking.com is very very misleading, the cheaper rooms don't have half the things that are listed and also don't have windows.
Second- The staff are quite pleasant (apart from one of the guys on the front desk, who might be one of the most untrustworthy people i have ever met on my travels, he just straight up lied about the hotel being full when i asked to move rooms) but more than once i walked past rooms where they were lying on the bed watching tv and a couple of times i saw them smoking in the rooms they were meant to be cleaning.
Third- The location is really really awful. I have to take some of the blame for this as i just didnt check the area well enough but we were in a room at the back and still could feel the bass from the bars and clubs across the road.

Overall, Maxi Hotel is a little run down and looks like it has seen better days but more importantly it couldnt be in a worse place unless you want to get black out drunk every night. Dont stay here, you can find much nicer places for a similar price....which isnt that cheap!!

Room Tip: Dont book the cheaper rooms, unless you're allergic to sun light

Stayed there recently and really love location and food. It's just next to Bali bomb memorial, sky garden and other bars. They got their restaurant and I had breakfast there, which was OK. room was Duplex which is OK. Standard or classic rooms are rather small, especially for long stays. Overall not bad.

Room Tip: Duplex is ok but have to be careful not to hit the top, if you are tall.

Stayed one night in the 2-floor bedroom which is more like a cave. No windows, kinda claustrophobic. Cigarette burn marks several places. Room was quiet during the night, beds were comfortable. Breakfast buffet is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Impossible to find clean cutlery and coffee cups. When I asked for a cup, the staff took a dirty one and cleaned it with water, no soap, while I was watching. Horrendous. The butter was in a big bowl that everyone dipped they're knives into. Whole breakfast was Indonesian food, which is regarded dinner to a European. Staff in the reception was very friendly and helpful, but I still doubt I would stay there again. Location is perfect if you are sixteen, looking to get drunk and party all night in neon lights.
