“Just a place to sleep.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

The rooms were okay. Big and room but not very well lit. The wifi is very spotty and is allowed only one device per room. The pool is nice and the pool bar has great happy hour specials. Though I have to say all of Kuta has great happy hour specials. Room service is decent. Stayed on the 3rd floor. There is no elevator so had to carry heavy luggage. Didn't get help checking out. Bell hop just walked by. Price is awesome, if you're just looking for a place to sleep.

Room Tip: One device is allowed to use WiFi per room.

A very nice hotel with a very good staff. I spent my first anniversary here and it was worth it.
The hotel has a Balinese ambiance. Rooms are well cleaned. Pool is bit small but deep enough.
Just outside the hotel you can find many shops and a 5 min walk to the Kuta beach.
Its at a central location of one of the most happening places in Bali.
They provide a welcome drink on arrival and you can book the room online through their site without any hassle.

Pros: The hotel is a lovely peaceful and relaxing place in a great location. Kuta is a very busy place so if you want somewhere quiet to come back to this is the place. The beach is very nearby but it's not the nicest beach, luckily the hotel pool is gorgeous with a nice bar and sun loungers. The restaurant is nice and can bring food to the room or pool. The breakfast was included and was also fine, nice bread, eggs to your choice and plenty of fruit etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a standard room and it was fine, very nice and clean, air con, TV, mini fridge. This place would be ideal for couples.

Cons: Unfortunately the wifi wasn't very good in the room and the hotel's prices for trips etc is a complete rip off, you are much better off to go to other travel agents and barter with them. Expect to pay about a 1/3 of the starting price. We paid 450,000 for a return fast boat to the Gili Islands but most places start the price at 1,000,000.

The pool is the best feature.

My wife and I stayed in a Deluxe room on the ground floor for 10 days early December 2012. As this was our first trip to Bali we chose this Hotel based on reading many reviews on Tripadvisor. In general I would say that most reviews as pretty accurate, in that the hotel is in a great spot close to the beach and the nightlife, but far enough away to be secluded from them when you choose. The gardens and pool area are perfect place to relax and unwind away from the hustle of the streets.

Staff were very attentive, polite and efficient which made it a very comfortable stay. The room was clean & modern, with comfortable bed for sleeping. Would suggest that adding another lounge chair to the room is required as it only has 1 chair – so if more than one person then the other is basically forced to sit on the bed – not ideal.

The only criticism I would have is the food was pretty ordinary. Breakfast was pretty bad …. Nothing to do with the staff .. but the choices on offer were limited, cereals were stale, milk was never cold and hot food looked awful (I didn’t try it so maybe it tasted good !!!). No bacon .. but you can have eggs made to order. Coffee was served in very small cups and was burnt. That said … it did the job .. but only just. We went out to the Havana Club one morning and had a fantastic breakfast …. Would prefer this “real” holiday breakfast to be served in the hotel . but alas this was not the case. From talking with some staff at other places it would seem that this is pretty normal fare for most hotels in the area. If you want to go out to a restaurant and buy breakfast you will get a very good feed .. otherwise the hotel offerings are set to a very low standard.

We also had a couple of meals in the restaurant and found them to be ordinary … I guess this is really hit and miss like most restaurants. In general we found the food in Kuta to be hit and miss but very cheap in most places. We did splash out on an expensive Japanese meal one night .. but this was very overpriced and very ordinary, however also splashed out at the Hard Rock … and while well over the odds for Bali the food was very good indeed.

Contrary to some comments here we did not get many drug pushes and we seen no ladies of the night selling wares on the street. Certainly plenty of pushy salesman but nothing a polite “No Thanks” doesn't stop. DVD’s, snake oil and little blue pills are pushed everywhere but not a real problem, just annoying at times.

I can certainly recommend the Satriya as a good place to stay in Kuta. While I doubt we will go back to Bali if we do then I would not have any problems staying here again. Having done many trips to various places in Thailand and other parts of SEA I think the value of Thailand, the food, the people etc is just far superior to anything we have found elsewhere (so far that is).

We have been to Bali several times and decided to move around a couple of hotels to explore different area's. Satriya on Poppies lane to has our favourite little corner bars where you can sit and watch the world go by. The hotel was a good budget room, simple but neat except for the bathroom where the tiles look like something out of the SAW series of movies. But hey it wasn't drama, the staff were friendly, the grounds and pool are nice and the prices at the poolbar for either drinks or food were the same as the 90 Degree bar and resturant rather than being inflated like most places. Upstairs at the bar/restuant is where you have your buffet breakfast which was quite standard fare and sufficient. 90 Degree bar has a great live band a couple nights a week and after a nice cheap ,tasty dinner you can sit around on couches and listen to some cool live music by "Fortune."A very warm and homely feel without to many under 30's except a few families with their kids. Overall very happy and will stay again...

Room Tip: Front detached bungalows close to reception, pool and bar / resturant. Rooms 203, 204 etc.

Been to Kuta plenty of times and this is one of the best spots I’ve stayed. We had a budget room but it was big and clean, plenty of room for lots of surf gear. Not too rowdy, close to everything, nice and quiet at night even tho it’s close to the action. Nice pool and bar, no yobs. Their food is fine, just don’t try and book a car at reception – they thought they could take me for ride! Plenty of cheaper options out on the street if you do your homework.

I booked Satriya Cottages in advance to get 15% off. When I got there the room that they put me in had no working aircon, which they knew about. So they down graded my room and said they would reimburse me. When I checked out they over charged me at full rate. I tried to explain to them but they would not listen and I had to catch a flight. I emailed them when I got to bangkok a few days after and they never replied.
