“Dodgy and dirty party place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

On arrival were told that we couldn't leave our passports with the staff at reception in the safe because they don't do that any more but there is a safe in our room that we can use, looking around our room we couldn't find the safe so called reception, they said no worries we fix, this guy turns up at our door with a safe under 1 arm and a screwdriver in the other and went about installing it in the plywood wardrobe lol. Next problem, tiles in bathroom don't slope towards the drain so when you have a shower not only does the bathroom flood but it overflows into the bedroom , not a healthy thing when you need to blow dry your hair . Toilet overflowed while we were out and came home to toilet water through our room they cleaned it up with dirty pool towels yuck. Mould everywhere disgusting. Dodgy bar staff, after a few drinks they get you to sign a docket to charge your room your tab but they include an empty docket underneath the original and make the signature block a little lower so you are actually signing. Blank and then they can charge you $200 if they want and you have no come back because you have already signed. Food is crap too .would never recommend this place to any one it should be condemned . Drug dealers out the front of the hotel too Not happy jan

We stayed for 5 nights in the hotel. The pools are really good and I think this is why you pay so much ( in comparison to other hotels, the price is quite cheap anyway). The rooms are average, the safe in our room was not working and I felt like the room could be broken into very easily (especially when the security guy sleeps on the beach chairs at night). The restaurant staff was very nice and the food ok, but not delicious and there are not too many options for breakfast. Also, the wifi was very very bad, we were supposed to have wifi in the room but no chance. It was only working outside, by the pool, and not all the time.
In terms of location, I could say that Poppies 2 is quite central in Kuta but everybody is very rude and my friend got mugged so I would rather reccommend to stay on Legian Street.

I've stayed here a few times for boys trips... awesome location/pools/food/staff. all you need if its a party holiday you're on. Dirty dirty bathrooms, quite disgusting really. But just being in bali makes up for the negatives. also there was a monkey that lived there but not sure if its still there. don't believe there photos

Room Tip: don't stay here if you like a good shower.

I stayed at the Barong around leavers time unintentially and it was very hard to get a decent sleep at night because there were many young party goers getting drunk.
The rooms are big and fairly clean.
I didnt have any problems with anything when I stayed here, the pools are nice and the cocktails fairly priced at the swim up bar.
Ideal location, would be good for people not spending much room in the hotel room :)

This Hotel is in the perfect place. Close to the heart of the Kuta Night life it was great to stay there. Rooms are basic and perfect for sleeping ( who goes to Bali to stay in their room???).
Pool areas always clean and the service from the staff always friendly and happy to help.
Breakfast basic but sufficient to last till dinner if you need it to.
In need of some TLC in some places but not enough to make the stay unpleasant.
Already planning to return there in the future!!

Room Tip: Rooms by the back pool are quieter. Families getting two rooms, ask for ones which share a stair ca...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

This is the first time my partner and I stayed in this hotel. We stayed there for 2 weeks in March, 2013. The hotel was quiet, maybe because we went in off-peak season. However, it is mostly all young people that stayed there, and we made a lot of friends who we went out to dinner and clubbing with most nights. We went with just us two and ended up going on adventures around Bali with a group of friends we met at the hotel. The staff speak EXCELLENT ENGLISH and you can have a great conversation with them in the restaurant and pools. The restaurant food was nice and not too expensive. The staff are sooo friendly and give you a great service!! The rooms are not fancy at all, they are very old, but hey you get what you pay for! The bed is comfortable and the air-con in the room is good though. We hardly stayed in our room much anyway, as we were out and about during the day, so it did not bother us. It also only just 10 Mins walk to Kuta beach. We didn't not have to catch a taxi must whilst staying here, as everything is walking distance. The only time we did not walk but caught a taxi was to go to the 'Bali Marine and Safari Park' and to go White Water rafting. and It also has two cool pools, one is a 24 Hr swim up bar. I would not really recommend this for people with young children or really, really old couples though, as it's a youth hotel, but still quiet. They play young peoples music during the day in the swim up bar, and they even let you play your own CD's and music if you ask the staff. This is a cheaper hotel and in the best location. So, if you want a hotel that is cheaper but close to everything like shopping, clubs, restaurants and Kuta beach then this is your hotel, and it def outweighs the fact that the room is a bit old. It is also waking distance to Waterbom Park (15 Mins walk). It's only a few Mins walk from all the best night clubs/bars (they are on the next St) and awesome restaurants. We will def stay here again when we go to Bali next due to it's location and friendly well, English spoken staff. I would def recommend staying here if you want to be in a central location, are young or if you are traveling on your own and want to make some friends whilst there.

Room Tip: If you want a room that is more quiet, request a room away from the pool or up in the top level.

I stayed in this hotel over new years with my boyfriend and 15 others. I had read lots of reviews saying how terrible this hotel was so we prepared for the worst. I had heard there had been a change in management and this was what we were hoping for. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival. Staff all spoke good english and were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were basic, clean bedding, clean towels daily and room service with no extortionate price tag. The pools were good, the back pool was always quiet at night with the front pool being reserved for the more rowdy crowd. As for the hotel being loud at night? silent as a whisper most of the time. One night we were even kicked out the pool for being too loud- so this 24hr party hotel that people compain about is no longer an issue. Food at the restaurant was great-fresh and cheap. New years the hotel went to a great effort setting up the hotel and dinner-shame not many turned up. All in all, we had a good time, with no dramas. It's made for young people who want a good time, at the end of the day you get what you pay for, and that is what this budget hotel is all about.

Room Tip: Request a room with a safe and located at the back of the hotel.
