“Great value for Money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

We (my son and I) have just spent 6 days at Melasti Bungalows in Kuta. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

The Bungalows are in a great location, close to great shopping, the art market, waterbom, restaurants, Kuta square - all a short stroll away.

The room was clean, sheets and towels were clean, although they didn't look shiny white any more. The rooms are very quiet, so although there was a lot of noise in the corridores, traffic, music, talking etc. when you closed the door, all was silent. The staff were very obliging and helpful. One phone call to reception always sorted out any issues. The pool and surrounding area was clean.

The spa at the front of the Bungalows is well worth a visit.

There is construction work happening, but it looks like there always will be.... Knocking down bits to build new rooms. The restaurant at Melasti provides great food. I would be happy to stay there again.

The location of this hotel is superb!!!! Great!!!! Right in the middle of everything in Kartika Street Kuta. Waterbom, which is my all time favorit spot, is just few minutes walk. And so many other restos, spas, etc. The hotel is renovating its lobby. The room I stayed in, to my surprise, was pretty big for a superior room. It has pool view. The bathroom was new I think but the furniture in the room was a bit old.

The aircon position which was above the entrance door made the room not that cold. The tv is a bit old and need replacement. There were 2 pools in the hotel. The pools were nice, though I didn't have time to use them. The breakfast was very standart. Well, what do you expect. You get what you paid. The staffs were friendly. There is a mini market right in front of the main gate.

Overall, if what you're looking for from a hotel is the superb location and the price is moderate, this is the place to choose.

Stayed here for 1 night in May, we thought that because we were paying a bit more it would be a bit nicer. Big mistake! The first room was noisy and right next to the main road, when we asked to move we ended up in a room that was damp, all the furniture and fittings were old/broken the sheets had stains on them and the room was right next to an air conditioning unit for the flats above that buzzed all night. The hotel requires payment up front (probably because of the condition of the rooms) and for an unknown reason staff at the reception had an issue with some of the dollar notes we wanted to use as payment and wouldn't accept them (they came from the UK Post Office). Easily on of my worst hotel experiences. Do yourself a favour and stay away!

I stayed 7 days in this run down hotel, during renovations. We had to dodge electricity cables on the ground every day to get out of the hotel. They were welding and we had to avoid sparks. One day they were washing out ready for the concrete for an upper floor - yes, we had to avoid getting soaked. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Rooms very old, not so clean. Our toilet lid was stained and seat was torn and chipped. Room smelt old and musty - sheets on the bed smelled mouldy - I bought some essential oil with me and sprinkled the pillows and sheets each night.
we got ripped off by Bali Getaway holidays, after taking a 4 hour (not two as promised) tour of ROYAL KARMA resorts, who basically rip you off - DONT GO THERE!! For a small amount of money though, subject to viewing the Royal Karma packages for purchasing holiday club membership, we couldn't really complain.
The Bed was comfortable and that's about it. No room to move in the bathroom, nowhere to put any cosmetic bags or anything. Dried up thin old towels.
There are a lot better hotels around....... my daughter stayed at the Adhi Jaya Hotel just up the road, and it was a LOT NICER.

i was there at melasti last (8-11may 2012) , the room was ok to be compared with the prices, i think it just ok .. secured and the staffs and the security officers who works during our visit and aware and alert of our needs ( friendly ), as i notice there is a major renovations / adding new block of building is on progress , ( new lobby ) for safety reason , well i think that is the things we cant avoided .. i am not really particular on this. it was scheduled during my stays ..

just i would recommend melasti managements to set up for a scheduled maintaining air condition servicing, the temp is warm, and making a little noisy, it would probably ruin the guest night especially if they really need a deep sleep after had packed tiring tours ..

We was here sometime in Jun 2011. Good location and nearby (walking distance) to tourist spot. We will be back here if we plan to go to Bali.

Room Tip: Room facing the pool

We checked out early from the bounty because we where just not happy at the bounty as it wasnt out place of stay.
We where walking along finding a new hotel and we came across this hotel! We asked to have a look at the room before we paid for two nights due to the bounty rooms where yuck!!
These room had a fish pond out the front m(the fish where huge and great to sit next to in the morning), two chairs and a table.
Inside was a massive bed and everything was Balinese style what we where pleased about :)
The bed, floors, bathroom (toliet, shower, sink) where all clean!!!
The staff where great as well, way better then the bounty front desk staff who where rude and didnt care but the stasff at Melasti did which made our day :)

The pool was great to just laz around in and the day spa was perfect!!
Day Spa is cheap compared to some of the other spa's in Kuta and great staff!!
The in room food service was great and cheap as well!!

In your room you cannot here anything at all!!

Keep up the good work Melasti, we will probabaly be back this week coming!!

100% great in all areas!!
