Yesterday Maria collected us and what a wonderful experience we had. A very educational visit to a local Market. Patiently she explained so many items available and showed how they are used. Many none of us were aware of and found the experience very interesting. Then off to her Compound which is very attractive. Maria had an assistant who was a great help in the entire process. We could have chosen from at least 40 dishes what we wished to make. We were exposed to a huge range of herbs and spices and as each was selected the reasons were clearly imparted to us. The collecting for basic pastes is one thing grinding them to a smooth level is quite another and we were grateful to have assistance as this is a time consuming process and tiring. The pungent aromas are exciting and exotic. Being made aware of the difference in the peanut sauces was amazing the one with the Chicken Sate was so different to the one served with Gado Gado. Both were so full of flavor it was impossible to decide which was best. The Beef Rendang takes time but the result is so rewarding. Mie Goreng I now have new respect for. When I order it to be aware of the effort required to put it on my plate. This is a very good hands on experience well worth the fees. You are given a pile of recipes and Maria offers to online sort out problems we may encounter down the track to help us achieve success. Can cheerfully recommend this experience. Know she is inviting you into her home to cook the way many locals do and the experience is very simple and enriching. Also all food when cooked is presented buffet style and you get to taste it all. Would suggest you email her on email@example.com and make a booking you will gain a very entertaining experience.
