“Luxury ay affordable prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

This was my 3rd stay at Poppies, and I'm sure I will be back again. The sense of peace is amazing considering the general noise of Kuta and the restaurant fully deserves the accolade of being one of the best places to eat in Bali. And all of this at affordable prices including free WiFi and the Setanta Sports channel for 24 hour rugby :-)

We stayed at Poppies without hesitation on our return trip to Bali in December 2013. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids 14 and 10) and this place is so perfect we didn't even look at anywhere else to compare. Located in the hustle and bustle of Kuta, for all you know once you walk through the entry to the complex, you could be in the middle of Celuk or Ubud it is so quiet and peaceful. Hats off to the staff who as always, were superb.

Room Tip: Take your pick, they are all superb.

I had just a 1 night stay at poppies at the end of my trip and I wish it could have been longer. Getting there from Seminyak wasn't great, as the taxi driver dropped us at the Legian road entrance of poppies lane and we had to wheel our luggage down to the hotel, dodging scooters and other tourists along the way. This was not the fault of the hotel of course.
Upon arriving, the noise of busy Kuta falls away behind you. Although we were early, we were able to check into our room right away. Cottage 21 is located towards the back of the property (which seems to go on and on) and was lovely and quiet. Very comfortable rooms, yes a bit dark, great bathroom and lovely verandah. Our aircon was leaking, which was known by the staff member that brought our luggage to the room. I expected her to send someone to fix it but she didn't. No problem, it didn't bother us too much.
The grounds and pool are lovely, as are the staff. I would definitely stay again.

We stayed at Poppies Cottage for 2 nights, very comfortable rooms, nice pool and very good service.
All was good but our camera was stoled at the room, we lost not only the camera but also we lost all the photos about the trip by Asia. The room was properly closed. The response of manager was that they cannot do anything for us :/
Our mistake was not ensuring the camera at the safety box but of course we consider that is very important to let tourists know about this situation.
The hotel is very nice, also Bali is very nice but be careful with your belongings.

Thank you for being generous with the stars despite your loss. That is sincerely appreciated.

This particular review is very important to us, and we would like to shed a little background light on the matter for future readers.

As we have a very comprehensive security set-up at Poppies, we have been able to look into this matter in considerable detail, and have determined the following:
between the time you were in the pool area taking pictures during the afternoon, and the time you left the hotel later in the evening, no one could have entered your room. This is proven by our security records which state that the sole existing key to your room - other than your own guest key - was signed out (together with other room keys) from 17.00 hrs until 17.57 hrs by our deputy reception manager (17 years of service) to our senior housekeeping staff (30 years of service), who was on duty that night with a female colleague (17 years of service), in order to carry out evening turn-down service in each room. When he and his colleague knocked on the door of your room, you were inside, and they were not permitted to enter to do the turn-down. By your own account you left the room later on in the evening, but the one-and-only key to your room had by then already been signed back into Reception at 17.57 hrs, where it is itself kept under lock and key. You reported your loss around 23.30 hrs when you returned, but the housekeeper's room key was not signed out again until the following day.

There are no other keys in circulation (they are not copyable in Bali, and spares are kept in a safe by the owners), and there are no other ways to enter a cottage, as we have security bars on all windows and security staff on all gates, and an electrical warning system around our walls.

Of course we do not in any way doubt that you suffered an unfortunate loss, for which you have our fullest sympathy, but in this particular case we are able to be absolutely certain that your loss must have occurred outside the room - perhaps at the pool area or elsewhere.

Our high ranking on Trip Advisor is not achieved without continuous work over many years to build a solid reputation, and that includes the absolute honesty and integrity of our staff, both at our restaurant and our hotel, who are retrieving guests' misplaced belongings almost on a daily basis, and returning them to their grateful owners whenever possible.

We beg to suggest that in this case, there must be some alternative explanation.

Beautiful food, good service, low prices. What more do you want?:-) Very highly recommended. Try the pasta, I think it's home made, also make sure you try the cocktail served in a pineapple. Don't miss this restaurant when in Kuta.

Walking down the little lane way we thought we had made a wrong decision to come to poppies. How wrong could we be. After numerous visits to Bali we don't know how we missed this restaurant. The service was great and the menu options endless. We ordered 3 mains between 2 and every single one was amazing and I couldn't fault any. We have now gone back many times on our trip. You just can't pass up great service and amazing food at that price. Go! You will not be disappointed

My wife and I have been to bali numerous times. Each time we have stayed at various 4 & 5 star accomodation but this time we decided to try Poppies Cottages.

If your looking for the quiet spot, only a few steps from the hussel and bussel, this is the place to stay. The intimate cottages with their thatched ceilings makes for a truely wonderful stay.

The staff are very quiet and will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.

Go shopping, relax by the pool, enjoy a fabulous meal at Poppies resturant opposite the cottages, you are only moments from whatever activity you want.

Treat yourself and make a booking
