Myself and girlfriend stayed here in Aug 09 for a week. We stayed in a superior room around the lotus pond just off reception, which was basic yet fine, clean. Room was a little small and bathroom could do with being refurbished but otherwise fine. Pool area was quite small and not many lounges which tended to get booked up pretty quick, had a poolside bar (not swim up). The staff here were fantastic, very welcoming, polite and friendly. Always knew my name and would stop to talk to me ask how the holiday was going and recomend places to go and see. Breakfast had a good selection of fresh fruit, asian dishes and bacon eggs ect. Hotel is in a great location discovery shopping mall is directly opposite and waterbomb park is 500m down the road. About a 10 - 15 min walk into the centre of Kuta to poppies lane. I really liked the location because of the fact that u were away from the congested central kuta area but still close by. The beach is 2 min away. Would recomend staying here tho keep in mind it is only a 3 star so u get what u pay for but what u do get is fine.

The Bali Rani is in a great location for access to the Kuta area, just across the road from the Discovery centre and a short walk to Waterbom Park. Crossing the main road is a bit of a trial, but you get used to it - wait for taxis to stop up the road somewhere and bring everything to a standstill. We had asked for two adjacent rooms, but we ended up on different floors and different wings. The rooms we had were facing the pool area, which is relatively small but fine unless you want to swim laps. There are not very many lounges around the pool, and they tend to get "booked up" by patrons placing belongings on them, even before going to breakfast. The rooms are quite large, and for the most part OK. Our only gripe was that the beds, while large, were very firm, and the pillows were too fat and firm for comfortable sleeping. The staff were very polite and friendly. The breakfast/meals area was OK, but if it was overcast it could be quite gloomy. The breakfast was interesting for a few days, but after a week was lacking much appeal. I would recommend the cultural dancing/music and meal night at the hotel. I would like to be able to recommend this hotel, but with so much choice in the area, I would try somewhere else next time, for a comfortable sleep!

I went to this hotel for a holiday with friends and family. Kuta is a busy area with dense traffic and tourism. It had a great location making it helpful to get around. The rooms were quite small not as big as I hoped for.

Room service always came early at around 7am which was annoying, next time put the do not disturb sign.

It was comfy to sleep in, and no noise at all. The pool was average and big. It is near the water theme park, which is a popular attraction and the commercialised shopping mall as well.

It was definitely a great place to stay. But I recommend to stay in Ubud, lot quieter and relaxing and less commercialised than kuta. Kuta is more for the mainstream partygoers.

We just returned from 3 weeks at Bali Rani and loved it!!! We only decided to stay there as most hotels would not let us book a room to suit two young kids (age 4 & 2) without booking two interconnecting rooms (didnt want kids in seperate room as they were too young and would open their door and wonder off). The rooms were able to accommodate 4 single (2 king singles together and 2 standard singles together), a little bit confined with 4 beds in one room but we only were in the room to sleep anyway.

Rooms are basic, but we have stayed in a few different places and most Bali rooms are pretty standard unless you are willing to pay about 3 times more for it. Housekeeping was great, rooms were kept clean daily and were more than willing to clean rooms several times a day for a number of the guests who got 'Bali Belly'. Laundry service was fast and very reasonably priced.

Facilities: Pool was kept very clean each day and treated every night. Kids pool was fantastic. Only downside is that there is no swim up bar and the pool closes from 7.30pm to 7.30am. Reception was very helpful at all times, safety deposit boxes at reception not rooms safes. Would recommend upgrading to the superior rooms as there are all around the pool and the deluxe are around the Lotus pond. For families with very young kids would recommend requesting downstairs room around the pool as there is no lift and the stairs get a bit full on for tired kids plus easier to get them in for day sleeps/rest if needed while you can still sit outside and see your room. Spa/Massage: Only used it once, would say it was an average massage, better off trying Febris or Julies Spa (best hot stone massage ever!) both close nearby.

Staff: First week would have said staff was 'average' but we stayed weeks so after the first week they go to know us and they would great. Very friendly and loved the kids, only one or two of them are a bit rude but most of them are lovely.

Location: Close to Centro/Discovery Plaza, easy walk into Kuta (although we always taxi's with the kids as only 5000 rup from Bali Rani to Kuta) saved the whinging. Only downside was not on the beach but only across the road.

Overall we loved staying at Bali Rani and would definately go back there. Would recommend for familes and older people as the hotel was in a great location walk to everything but probably a bit quite for the younger singles wanting to party.

My son & I stayed at the Bali Rani Hotel in March-April 2009 after having the Hotel recommeneded to us by a friend who has stayed at the Hotel numerous times. I booked & paid for a deluxe ground floor pool view room which I was advised on arrival was not available - hotel staff checked my documents and during further discussion I was provided with the room I booked. At all times the staff were courteous & helpful. After checking into the room I returned to Front Office to check that we had in fact been given the room we booked - When I enquired about the deluxe room I was informed what makes the room deluxe is that the bathroom has a hairdryer on the wall! There you go! The Hotel rooms are in need of re-furbishment, especially the mouldy bathrooms. The pool was welcoming at the end of a day and there is happy hour at the poolside bar. The current trend of guests who reserve poolside chairs by placing towels on them but, are no-where to be seen all day is nothing short of selfish. Be warned, if I see this I will return your towel to the Pool attendant! Breakfast was fine and the Bali Brassiere meals were quite nice. You're handy to most attractions in south Kuta and within walking distance of the Kuta Art Market. The place had a nice feel about it with guests who return yearly.
