“Great end to my trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

Stayed 4 nights here after 4 nights exploring other parts of Bali.

Pros
Front desk was great. Check in smooth and fast. Helped to sign me up for the chain of hotels loyalty card.
Hotel is beach facing. Deluxe rooms got a good view of Kuta beach. Nice sunset every evening.
The price we got were def cheaper than Hard rock hotel next door.
Rooms were spacious.
Housekeeping cleans your room everyday.
Had the "Do not disturb" sign hanging on our door and they called to check if we wanted the room cleaned. We asked for half an hour to get ready and head out for lunch and they nicely waited for us to leave.
Room service is very prompt when we called for extra sachets of sugar.
Loved the stone bath. Spacious and feels solid instead of those fibreglass material type.
Very near to Legian and Kuta Square. Lots of short cut lanes (Poppies Lane I and II).

Cons
No cons for me. Sixth trip to Bali and must say this was the best hotel so far.. Although I have yet to try those Luxury hotels in Uluwatu and Seminyak.

I just like the location. The centre of everything and you can practically walk everywhere.

Initially we were torn between Hard Rock Hotel Kuta or Mercure Kuta. In the end, we went with Mercure Kuta as it boasts of its infinity pool. The price of the rooms were on the higher end, and we took the Deluxe Oceanview Room.
Actually this is my 2nd trip to Bali, first we stayed at Legian, so I thought we should stay at the hub itself -Kuta this time. However, I must say that I am quite disappointed as Kuta is extremely dirty, and the beach is too crowded hence it felt a little too cramped up when we stayed there.
There is nothing to boast about this hotel and for those who are familiar with Mercure, it is overall the same layout just with a touch of Indonesian culture (Bali to it). Yes, the hotel is beautiful but the inifinity pool was disappointing as well. It was really tiny that hb+I end up not swimming in it. There is nothing to boast about the room as well. It was small and not worth the value we paid for. It has a normal design with nothing to shout about.
Food was so-so as well, however for those who like access to nightlife and easy transportation and beach activity (surfing), this is ideal location for you. As mentioned, since we were torn between Mercure and Hard Rock Hotel, in the end we felt that we should have stayed at Hard Rock as the pricing was rather similar plus there were more things to be done in that hotel (We could see the interior of the hotel from our level).
For our next trip to Bali, we will definitely opt to stay in other parts of Bali, perhaps the quieter and cleaner ones, where we can just enjoy the beautiful beach.
Kuta beach is polluted.
Overall, we had a good time but wished we stayed in a different location.

Room Tip: Unnecessary to book the Deluxe Seaview Room as the view was not fantastic since Kuta beach is pollut...

Or maybe it did leave an impression.

The room is small, not in the case of awfully small, but some may say, what is this mockery, especially when you get one of those weird rooms with steps in it (the bed is unleveled with the bathroom). It is unbearably hot and humid when the air condition is off, when it is on the noise annoys your ear, to top it off, you will bathe with dirty salty water. While the last part is actually understandable because it is literally located just 50m across the Kuta Beach, they could do more on servicing the air condition.

But it does offer all standard facilities. Free wifi will keep you updated. Pool and bar will keep you entertained. The design deserves a bit compliment when it manages to have koi pond, infinity pool, gazebo, etc. all in a small area of the hotel.

If you are a backpacker group of two or more, it might be a good deal over those cheap backpacker hostel in Kuta area.

But if you want a decent room and don't mind to spend a bit more, get the honeymoon room or other suite.

Room Tip: Depends on your preference, choose one facing the ocean but it will be noisy since the hotel and the...

Find it hard to believe that for $150 per night i was put in a room next door to where maintenance was being carried out. First day I put up with the noise as I was already awake and the drilling and grinding didnt start until about 10;30 am. Was just hard to hear the tv. Next day however noise started at 8am when I was sound asleep. Cannot recommend this hotel at the present time. Management showed no foresight and my request for a refund for at least the night when I was woken up has so far been denied. On the plus side 10 out of 10 for people in reception.

Pros :

Perfect lcoation overlooking Kuta beach near shops
Excellent roof top pool and viewing platform
comfortable rooms
Excellent lobby with lounges and free wifi

Cons :

Price gouging for stuff like Wifi which is included with other hotels
30k idr to play snooker in the lobby? really?
Average breakfast
Cleaning staff waking me up at like 8am to clean room

Conclusion :

Overall a good hotel but should have standard stuff like Wifi and breakfast included in basic room price
Location really is the selling point here though and is enough to recommend to stay here

Room Tip: stay close to the lobby to try to get within range of the free wifi in lobby :)

Just spending our last night of 4 at the Mercure Kuta Beach. Best location in Kuta with a view from the pool and deck area over the beach. Superior room on the 3rd floor is great, plenty big enough. I believe the standard rooms are a bit small. Restaurant and bars are overpriced compared to what you can get nearby. A little adjustment would ensure greater use by guests. Breakfast is good, not outstanding. Cater for both westren and Asian tastes. Would stay again because of the location. Close to beach, Poppies 1 and all the restaurants, bars etc.

Room Tip: Superior for sure.
